How To Use Low-priced Classic Handsets For Old Nummbers?
KumaarShah replied to Puneet's topic in Other handsets
When I had enquired about a month back, I was told I can use my existing number on the Classic phone. However when I wne t and saw the Classic phones, I was dejected by its sheer lack of quality. I would suggest you to go in for a LG either new or old - they are far better than Classic. Another route is that you go to the RCL outlet and ask them for LG phones, if they deny it you, call up *333 right from there and complain. They (*333) will ensure that the store supplies you, your required LG phone. This is as was promised to me by *33 when I complained that I am not interested in Classic phones and that I would like to terminate my account with RCL, then they gave this info. RCL has asked all outlets to stop displaying and selling LG phones so that their stock of the lousy Classic is fully sold out. You can do as you desire. Hope the above info is useful to you. Thanks -

@amtrag and ani_meher, thanks for your solutions. I am using FF Ver 2.0.0.4. earlier I used to be able to d/l without any problems. Since last 10 days or so, this problem has been occuring. @Ani, On right-click, the option save as target is not available. Only open link in new tab, open link in new window, save link, bookmark link, copy link, send link and properties are available. Should i uninstall QT? I loaded this about a month and a half back. Is this an issue with RW or something else? I will try uninstalling QT and then post here. Lets see. Thanks once again friends. -

Link: http://www.sda-india.com/sda_india/psecom,...,18387,p,0.html Tuesday, 12. June 2007 Nokia Now Sues Qualcomm Finland based Nokia Oyj, the world's top mobile phone maker has filed a patent counter-suit against American company Qualcomm Inc in a Texas court seeking damages and an injunction against the company that invented the CDMA technology. Nokia has accused Qualcomm of infringing six implementation patents in its MediaFLO mobile TV technology and its Brew mobile data technology. Nokia makes more than one in every three mobile phones made in the world. Hit by Qualcomm’s arrogance, Nokia and its partner Sanyo decided to stop making CDMA handsets. Qualcomm has filed 11 patent suits against Nokia in less than two years, seeking damages and injunctions, so far without success. Last month Nokia filed its first counter-suit against Qualcomm, in Wisconsin, and related to chipset technologies. Both the companies have been suing and counter suing each other since part of a cross-licensing deal over technology patents expired on April 9. Their rivalry has worried analysts and investors on both sides of the Atlantic. Nokia’s chief technology officer Tero Ojanpera said, "We see Qualcomm has copied our technology without compensating us, so we need to enforce our technologies and patents we have." He also said Nokia had a long history of innovation in the fields of IP broadcast television and mobile downloads and the US firm needs its patents for the broadcast quality of MediaFLO or to download programmes in Brew. Last week, Qualcomm was hit by an US International Trade Commission ruling that banned imports of new advanced phones using chips the ITC said infringed on Broadcom patents. Broadcom and Qualcomm are fighting eachother over patent cases.

Try in Nokia outlets or in other cell selling shops. You may get there some models. Or go to any Rel Outlet and ask for a particular model. If the store does not have it, call up *333 from there and complain that you are not getting the handset of your choice and that you may quit RCL services. They will speak to the store manager who will arrange for you the model of your 1st choice or 2nd choice or 3rd choice atleast. All RCL outlets have been instructed to stop selling and displaying all other brands except Classic as they have to sell off these stocks within this month. So you will not see any other brand save Classic.

Soon, gadgets could be recharged wirelessly [ SATURDAY, JUNE 09, 2007 01:23:13 AM] BOSTON: Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers made a 60-watt light bulb glow by sending it energy wirelessly — from a device 7 feet (2 meters) away — potentially heralding a future in which cell phones and other gadgets get juice without having to be plugged in. The breakthrough, disclosed Thursday in Science Express, the online publication of the journal Science, is being called “WiTricity” by the scientists. The concept of sending power wirelessly isn’t new, but its wide-scale use has been dismissed as inefficient because electromagnetic energy generated by the charging device would radiate in all directions. One advance was announced last fall, when MIT physics professor Marin Soljacic said he had figured out how to use specially tuned waves. The key is to get the recharging device and the gadget that needs power to resonate at the same frequency — allowing them to more efficiently exchange power. It is similar to how an opera star can break a wine glass that happens to resonate at the same frequency as her voice. The next step was to demonstrate the principle in experiments, which is what was described in the new paper in Science. The MIT team was able to light up a 60-watt bulb that had “no physical connection” with the power-generating appliance. “It was quite exciting,” Soljacic said. The process is “very reproducible,” he added. “We can just go to the lab and do it whenever we want.” The development raises the prospect that we might eliminate some of the clutter of cables in our ever-more electronic world. And if devices can get their power through the air, they might not need batteries and their attendant toxic chemicals. However, the technology has a ways to go before it becomes practical. The MIT system is about 40 to 45% efficient — meaning that most of the energy from the charging device doesn’t make it to the light bulb. Soljacic believes his system needs to get twice as efficient to be on par with charging the chemical batteries in portable gadgets. Also, the copper coils that transmit the power are about 2 feet (0.61 meter) wide for now — too big to be feasible for, say, laptops. And the 7-foot (2-meter) range of this wireless handoff could be increased — presumably so that one charging device could automatically power all the gadgets in a room. Soljacic believes all those improvements are within reach. The next step is to fire up more than just light bulbs, perhaps a Roomba robotic vacuum or a laptop. Soljacic’s team stresses that the “magnetic coupling” process involved in WiTricity is safe on humans and other living things. And in the initial experiments on the light bulb, no harm came to the cell phones, electronic equipment and credit cards in the room — though more research on that is needed. So, that means if you were to resonate with the charging device, you could get a contact-less shock??? just joking, ha ha

As much as Airtel and others, i suppose. RCL will not provide it for anything less, i am sure. Lets wait and watch.

Bsnl Offers Unlimited Internet On Cdma 2000 1x In Urban Areas Also.
KumaarShah replied to Dr.Gagan's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
This offer seems to be available since quite some time now. It is not new. So RCL and Tata will not respond to it at all. As far as speeds are concerned, BSNL's BB is good enough currently although in a month 3 days you do not get service at all. But that apart, the speed surely rox. I do not know about RCL or TATA or Airtel - all in 2mbps and above. The lesser said about others, the better. So BSNL CDMA should be able to provide decent service and speeds AFAIK. -
WOW!!!!
-
Thanks, Arun.

^^^ You have not seen the special plans page under FWP, I suppose on RCL's website. You have only seen the Standard Plans page. RCL is offering some very good offers on FWPs. You can also check out the Prepaid FWPs. You have got mighty disillusioned with RCL now and hence I would strongly suggest you to go ahead with Tata and enjoy...... In any case, RCL cannot beat TATA on tariffs on FWPs at all. So go ahead, find out how TATA's network is in your circle and enjoy.......
-
You get the same tariffs even on RCL, raccoon. See the FW299Mobile plan, Plan 299OI, Hello 125 plan etc. But I will agree with anuragz, that TATA Walky has got exceptional plans and offers also. Their Cordless Colour Walky has got even better offers though the upfront cost is a bit high at around 4k.

^^^ sheer bad luck, mate. As reg. utopian fantasy, you are absolutely right. But that is the reality in today's scenario, where LG/Nokia/RCL does not trust the customer and then the customer in turn does not trust them. All the sales outlets should necessarily have a live model instead of a dummy model. Then no one with a sane mind would ask for a week long free trial. These days the brochures are very colourful in describing the features but in reality only when you buy the product, you get to know how colourful the features are really. Anyway, the refund is what I have got of the full amount plus Rs 500 extra towards some offer for DAPO customers at that time. So after using the handset for almost 6 months, and after a couple of replacements of the same model, finally they agreed to take it back and repay me in full. RCL and LG / Nokia are not un-responsive like the others. You will agree with me on that. Only you need to have the most time, patience and energy to follow up with them. RD 6230 had a bad voice clarity, for your info. More on that can be read from my posts in the topic RD 6230. Thanks.

Can I have my username changed to KumaarShah? Thanks in advance.

^^^ R U Post or prepaid customer? If Post paid, then go across to any RCL utlet and ask for any LG handset you want, if they say they dont have stocks, ring up *333 from there on your old handset and complain to them about the RCL Outlet. They will talk to the manager and see that you get your choice of handset. Currently all RCL Outlets have been instructed not to display any LG handsets and instead clear all stocks of the lousy Classic handsets. After the Classic stocks are sold out, LG and others will once again come back. But if you are in a hurry currently to change your handsets, do complain to *333. They will help you out. CC / HL is now far better than earlier. All the above info was given to me by CC only.
-
^^^ All of you who have serious problems with any mobile handsets that you have bought from RCL can try sending strong emails to RCL alongwith a CC or BCC to LG. Most probably if you are a good customer of RCL, they may oblige you by taking back the handset and refunding your full money, no further questions asked. I returned my RD6230 to LG under instructions from RCL and got back the entire money refunded by LG after using the handset for about 5 to 6 months. After that I went in for Nokia 6265. Even with this 6265, I had the battery changed once and also had my miniSD card problem sorted out amicably. Try it, it may work. And yes, I fully agree with jmthakur on LGs new models. They should be bought only after a one week free trial. Why only KG, even Nokia or for that matter anything that RCL sells should have a one week satisfaction guarantee or full money refunded clause. Thanks

@ puneet, value Roaming has come back in the guise of Home Roam packs without any rentals for NJ 399/499, RIO 299/399, Delight 399/499 and DAPO plans only. All other plans do not require Home Roam pack at all because the STDR2r rates are already higher than the new roaming charges of Rs 1.40/2.40/1.75. So there is no sense in offering HOME ROAM PACK for the remaining plans. Home Roam pack activation is not automatic and has to be requested with *333. If you do not activate it, you will pay 1.40/2.40 and 1.75 as roaming call charges. RCL should have automatically moved all subscribers in these seven plans to the Home roam pack and gained some brownie points after a long long time. But alas they do not want any goodwill at all and still beleive in troubling the subscribers no end. More than half the subscribers of tehse seven plans are aware of this rule of requesting for activation. There is no publicity at all nor the website has any info. Only if you dig deeper and ask the CC, you will find gold. This is plain ridiculous on RCLs part. @mobilefan, I had told you in your topic earlier that Zero Roaming Charges will never see the light of the day. The new minister does not recollect that there was any such concept (Z R C) in the pipeline at all. He has coolly forgotten the news headlines which screamed that Maran wanted to introduce this ZRC as a birthday gift for MK on 3.6.7. This is what the newspapers here say today and are not my comments. Whatever BSNL/MTNL/RCL has introduced as new free roaming charges plans have higher rentals to offset partly or completely the loss on the free i/c plans. And also notice that the local call rates are higher at Re 1 pm for all plans. Anyway this is how all telcos fool people. Thanks
-
^^^ Thanks buddy. And before I forget it, all SE phones have this facility, from the basic to the ultra high end.
-
AFAIK, the call blocking feature is available only on Sony Ericsson GSM handsets. The feature works this way - you block some numbers in a list maybe (you can select from yr phone book or from a group list) and set the block to on. Now when someone calls your number, they will get only an engaged blip. Your phone will however record it in the missed calls or received calls list depending on whether you rejected the call or not. Maybe other brands also have this feature, but I am aware only about SE. This feature will not be given by RCL at any cost as they may lose i/c revenue from the calling network. If any handset mfr offers this feature, RCL will definitely block this feature. So do not hope for this on RCL, instead go GSM and opt for SE.

^^^ & @milind, I have always emailed them only and never filled out any forms on their website. The email ID is support.services@nokia.com. And it never bounced. And wonder of all wonders - I got the replies mostly the same day. Anyway give it a try and see for yourself. Thanks

Times News Network - Tuesday, May 29, 2007 02:09:56 AM NEW DELHI: Local and intra-circle calls from a private operator's network to a BSNL landline or mobile will be cheaper by up to 20%, if the Department of Telecom (DoT) approves a demand raised by private operators. Private operators have approached the DoT stating that it is their legitimate right for carriage and termination of local calls and intra-circle call (within a circle or a state) on BSNL numbers, and this would result in the reduction of Rs 0.20 which the PSU charges. They have also demanded that the DoT ensures that licence conditions are implemented which permit them to carry local and intra-circular traffic if they have a mutual agreement with the operator from whom the call originates. At present, BSNL does not allow private players to carry local calls to the PSU's network as it maintains that an agreement with the terminating operator is required to carry intra circle calls. Private operators allege that since the licence agreements does mention an agreement with the terminating operator BSNL has always interpreted this clause to its advantage. For instance if an Hutch subscriber based in Amritsar makes a call to a BSNL landline of mobile within the same city or in Ludhiana, Hutch cannot carry this call. Instead, Hutch pays Rs 0.20 per minute to BSNL and hands over this call to the PSU at its point of origin. “Considering that we have national long distance (NLD) license, we must be allowed to carry and terminate intra-circle traffic on BSNL's network, and this will result in the reduction of Rs 0.20 per minute charge, which BSNL currently imposes. This will lead to a reduction in the cost of telecom services for the end customer. While there is no doubt that competition will hit the revenue of the incumbent operator, however, the same should not be the reason for protecting one particular segment of the telecom service artificially,” said a leading private operator. “When all areas in telecom are being opened for competition, this is being artificially protected by BSNL despite the license clearly specifying it. Even if private operators were to offer only a Rs 0.10 reduction, subscribers can still get a 10% reduction on intra-circle calls,” said a source from a telecom industry association. Bharti Airtel has even pointed out that private NLD players had already established points of interconnect along the BSNL network for terminating STD calls and the same could be used for local calls also. Bharti has also told the DoT that routing of intra circle calls by NLD players will result in better call completion and reduced cost of carriage for access providers and increased competition among NLDOs including BSNL. Will RCL also pass on the benefit or will they increase the call charges, like they did with the roaming charges?

^^^ now its ok. Thanks. -
I agree fully with you on the above, raccoon. RIM gives measly offers on their recharges and their STVs have a million conditions attached. All in all RIM prepaid is costly to use unless you are a nerd or techie (sorry, no offence meant to these class of guys) and able to comprehend what the jokers at RCL want to actually give you. And for all you know, by the time you decide on something in RIM, it is gone and you are back to square one. The poor CC also cannot be blamed for what RCL does. They are after all humans only. RIM needs to seriously employ robots in their CC to dole out correct and upto date info to their customers.
