Earlier when browsing RIMweb, we were getting all the posts one under one, but now after installing the RIMweb toolbar, we are getting only the 1st post and the other posts are shown as a tree. When we want to read a post, we have click on that particular post, and it opens only that post. This is not good as we lose the continuity. I searched all possible ways to bring the view back to normal view. But I am unable to get it back. Any one knows about this and how to re-enable the normal view? A screenshot of the new view is attached herewith. Thanks

Video Ringtones For Nokia 6275
KumaarShah replied to kk999's topic in Ringtones / Wallpapers / Themes / Applications / Games
yes somebody please post some video ringtones. -
^^^ It appears that you have bought a grey market handset and if so, there is no warranty. If no, go over to the Nokia ASC and create a ruckus there. Only then you will get things done. If you do not create a scene there, you will be made to come and go several times before you get a replacement.

DoT imposes penalty for licence norms violation Thomas K. Thomas Mobile operators may end up paying Rs 700 cr as fine New Delhi May 4 Rejecting requests from telecom operators for a relaxation, the Department of Telecom has decided to go ahead and impose penalties on various operators for three different instances of violation of licence norms. In a meeting of the Telecom Commission, held last week, it has been decided to impose penalty on mobile operators who had not fulfilled the roll out obligations and those who had offered services like `Talk On' that are not permitted under the licence conditions. Mobile operators who were caught offering cellular services near the international border areas despite the Government's directive that a buffer zone should be left, are also under the DoT scanner. The operators together could end up paying nearly Rs 700 crore in penalty as a result of this decision. Of this, seven operators, including Reliance Infocomm, Tata Teleservices, Bharti Cellular and Essar Hutchison, who had not fulfilled their roll out obligations within the stipulated time frame, will have to pay the highest penalty amount of Rs 406 crore. Delay in clearance Earlier, the Cellular Operators Association of India and the Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India had asked the Government to rethink on the penalty on the grounds that the delay in roll out was caused due to lack of timely clearances from various Government agencies. "Mobile industry is the most competitive segment within telecom and has in fact the least requirement of a mandatory roll out obligation. It is therefore surprising that while rollout obligations have been removed as a requirements for other segments like national and international long distance, these continue to be prescribed for access service providers, who in fact are the only service providers who are contributing to the growth of tele-density in India," said a letter written by COAI and AUSPI to DoT on April 3. However, DoT is going ahead with its decision to slap the fine on seven telecom operators for failing to roll out telecom services in 10 per cent of each district headquarters within the first year of operations. Numbering plan In another case of violation, Hutchison Essar and Bharti Airtel will have to pay penalty for not adhering to the national numbering plan by offering `Talk On' services and the `2-in-1' plan respectively. Both the services required subscribers to dial # (hash) for availing themselves of the service, which was against the numbering plan at the time the service was launched. As per the licence norms the two companies face a penalty of Rs 50 crore each. Courtesy: http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2007/0...50504520400.htm

Dot Imposes Penalty For Licence Norms Violation
KumaarShah replied to KumaarShah's topic in The Lounge
By dialling # before the number, STD/ roaming charges are not applicable when someone from other circle visits your circle and you call him. This was introduced almost four years back, just when RCL had started. Anyway more light on this may be thrown by geeks here. -

Nokia Launches Seven Low-Cost Mobile Phones At a press conference in India, Nokia has launched seven new mobile phones, that provide functions and features specifically designed for consumers in emerging markets. "India is very important to Nokia and to the global mobile communications industry as a whole," says Soren Petersen, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia. "One of the fastest growing markets in the world, India is also home to several Nokia facilities, including R&D and manufacturing. We're very proud to be part of their growth." Nokia 2630 The thinnest handset in Nokia's portfolio at 9.9 mm, the Nokia 2630 balances a modern design with a full range of features to meet the needs of emerging market consumers. A camera combined with Bluetooth technology. Convenient productivity tools such as email, MMS, calendar and a calculator satisfy the work side of life, while features such as an FM radio, with direct access shortcut key and MP3 ringtones satisfy the entertainment side Nokia 2760 The Nokia 2760 features a digital camera, giving many consumers their first experience with digital photography, and Bluetooth technology to make it easy to share the photos that they capture. The Nokia 2760 also features video recording, video playback, and FM radio. The combination of Bluetooth and GPRS creates a convenient way to access data on the go for email and Internet. It also features extra large storage to save up to 1000 contacts in the phonebook. Nokia 2505 One of Nokia's sleekest fold-style phones for the CDMA market, the Nokia 2505 offers a unique smooth-back design. The Nokia 2505 is expected to be available in selected markets in Asia/Pacific, Middle East, Africa, China and Latin America during the 2nd quarter of 2007. The phone meets practical needs as well with easy-to-use functions including text messaging, speaker phone, calendar, a personalized voice reminder and an alarm clock. Other features included with the Nokia 2505 include pre-loaded games, a 300-contact phonebook, up to 3 hours of talk time and 156 hours of stand-by time. Nokia 1200 & 1208 Both of these phones introduce the industry's first call-time tracking application and multi-phonebooks to make phone sharing simpler and more efficient. In order to help manage airtime costs, the call-time tracking feature allows consumers and village phone entrepreneurs to pre-set a time or cost limit on individual calls, automatically ending the call after the limit has been reached. The easy-to-use multi-phonebook lets customers set up personal phonebooks unique to that user and save specific contacts to that user's phonebook. The Nokia 1200 and Nokia 1208 each come with 5 available phonebooks, so it is possible for an entire family to share a phone, and for each of the family members to manage their own phonebook. The Nokia 1200 and Nokia 1208 also come equipped with additional features tailored to entry markets such as one-touch flashlights and localized languages, while a seamless keypad also protects the phone from dust, another reality of rural mobile phone use. The Nokia 1200 phone is offered with a monochrome screen, while the Nokia 1208 features a colour VGA screen. "Innovative phone-sharing technology, contemporary design and easy-to-use features combine in these new products to empower consumers in entry markets," said Petersen. "As the clear market leader, with more than one-third of global market share, Nokia works to understand the needs and aspirations of consumers. We put this understanding into practice by developing products and applications that are relevant, easy-to-use and simple to understand, which is especially important for first-time users in emerging markets around the world." The new products will be available in the second and third quarter of 2007 in select markets. Estimated retail prices, before applicable taxes and subsidies range from 35 to 90 EUR. Reliance To Offer Handsets At Rs 777
KumaarShah replied to coolrajiv's topic in Reliance Communications
Maybe the Classic handsets are prone to faults every now and then and thats why they are selling at such low prices. The RCL logic is very simple - cheap quality - cheaper prices. Any Classic user here can share his/her experience with us on the quality etc? Thanks -
Speed Comparison : Hutch / Airtel Edge Data Card Vs Reliance Netconnect
KumaarShah replied to shuva_nandi's topic in Data services
AFAIK, GSM data speeds are slower than CDMA data speeds. Maybe the geeks can throw more light on this. But tariff wise, I think as Arun - Hutch is far better priced. If speed is not your criteria, go in for Hutch. -
Rcom First Listed Indian Telecom Company To Reward Shareholders
KumaarShah replied to @ksh@T's topic in Reliance Communications
^^^ The dividend is declared only on the face value and not on the market value. All companies can declare only on FV and not MV. Only the %age varies. You are right that RCOM has declared only 10% dividend when it could have definitely declared more. Perhaps RCOM needs money very badly to finance their GSM foray and cannot afford to declare more dividends. Atleast it is the 1st Indian Telecom company to declare dividends. Even Airtel which has even better performance did not declare dividends so far. -
Our own RCL has already started offering SUN TV and all its channels here in Chennai/TN. I dont know if this similar to the one offered above by MTNL. RCL charges Rs 15 for every 5 minutes for this facility and on my 6265, the video and the audio were almost flawless. Sometimes, there was a time gap but overall it is very good. The only thing is the high charges. If you mis out on a serial and want to watch it on your mobile, you would end up paying Rs 90 for the half hour serial. This is exorbitant. I haven't seen any other channel, so I cannot comment on how visible/readable the ticker screens on the news channels are. Thanks
-
^^^ Maybe by 2010 or 2011, we will get to feel the Reliance handsets, seeing can be done anytime. There is usually a very very longish time gap between seeing and feeling with RCL, as you all know already.
-
^^^ Eh!!!! all old news of last year. What relevance is it of now??

If they charge will they be able to answer calls immediately or will they put us on unlimited hold music and go on charging us for hearing their stupid hold music. Hope RCL wakes up soon and starts charging Re 2.65 per minute for customers calling customer care. As it is, theirs must be the only one among a few cell operators with the highest number of calls to customer care because of myriad customer problems with the service provider. This way their ARPU will become the highest in the world and ADA will beat even Bill Gates and become the world's richest man beating MDA also. Thanks
-
In fact, it is the same across all service operators. Even RCL on its onnet packs, actually adds up the call charges aa and when you make them at Re 0.15 pm and then at the end of the month gives you a credit for the amount you are entitled. So, keanu, if you can try emailing to some senior in TATA, you will be able to get your problems sorted out. But this is very difficult with TATA. Thanks

In RCL, you have many schemes. For STD Usage, you can rely on STD Calling Cards which will give you rates of Rs 1.50, Rs 1.25 and Re 1 for the Calling cards of Rs 115/225/675 & 875. For more details on these, you may visit RCL's website. You can take the lowest plan available in your area and add the above calling card to your account. This card works even while roaming - this is the beauty of this card. No one else offers such a facility. As for your SMS usage, unfortunately in RCL, no option is available to you. Your best bet would be to go in for a 2nd hand DAPO connection (avl at a premium) and add the STD card on it to use. Apart from this, there are no other options available with RCL. DAPO is the only plan in India which offers unlimited SMS nationally and locally at Rs 400 pm rental. More details on this can be searched from this forum. Hope the above info is useful to you. Thanks

Frankly speaking, I don't think paying a security deposit of Rs 1500 against your bill of Rs 800 would be any problem. You can atleast avoid the "running to pay thrice a month" syndrome. As for your complaints against continuous billing problems, this is far too serious and if it happens on a monthly basis, it is just terrible. Our RCL is at least better in this respect. Is there no redressal system in TATA for continuous billing problems? Something like our RCL's corporate service assurance or the CMO or the nodal officers etc. Doing the same rigmarole on a monthly basis is not a good idea. Tehre has to be an end to this somehow or the other. AFAIK, The billing problems and paying up the security deposit cannot be inter-related, hence if you are satisfied with the services provided, you can pay up the deposit.
-
^^^ AFAIK, I guess you will have to sell off the 6265 as there is no CDMA service in Doha. Please check once again with the company to which you have been posted about the cellular services available in Doha - whether GSM or CDMA. If CDMA is available, then I think you can carry your 6265 with you. OW selling is the only option for you. Thanks
-
Just pay some deposit with TATA and continue enjoying services without the bother of rushing to pay twice or thrice a month and then get refunds in next bills.

Reliance Communications Acquires 1.2 Million Subscribers In March 2007

@vmsanghrajka, Thanks for correcting me, I somehow goofed it up. -
LG phones have exceptional voice clarity, but this is offset by the lack of UI for SMSs. I have one LG C3400 which is absolutely great as far as voice clarity is concerned. The voice is almost the same as in a LG CDMA, but the SMS UI is horrible - you cannot send to groups, and you can send one SMS to only 6 recipients. This is an old model and maybe now their UI would have improved, just check thoroughly before you buy it. If you can up your ante, NGage QD is fabulous. You cannot get a better SMS friendly mobile. Here you can send SMSs to multiple groups (unlike in our CDMA - multiple recipients), and since it is a S60 phone, you can cut, copy, paste and edit SMSs also. You would already be knowing all this, just for info. Hows the specs for LG KG-110? Thanks

Ned: The Most Popular Man in the World Bill and Ned walk into a fast food joint one afternoon to get lunch. Bill orders and the cashier gives him his meal. Ned goes up to order and the cashier greets him with "Hello Ned! How are you? Hey everybody! Ned's here!" Everybody in the restaurant comes up and says hello to Ned. After everyone has greeted him, Bill and Ned sit down and begin to eat. "Ned, you're pretty popular!" says Bill. "I'm the most popular man in the world," says Ned. "Now Ned," says Bill, your pretty popular but you're not the most popular man in the world." "Oh yeah," Ned replies "I'll bet you a thousand dollars that I'm friends with anybody you can name!" "That so?" answers Bill, "How about the President of the United States?" "Let's go!" says Ned. The two fly to Washington and knock on the front door of the White House. The president answers, "Ned! How are you doing? I haven't seen you in ages!" The three go play a round of golf and then leave. "That was luck!" says Bill, "Two thousand says your not friends with the Queen of England!" "Let's go!" says Ned. The two fly to Buckingham Palace and, sure enough, are greeted by the Queen. ''Hello Ned my boy! What have you been up to these days?" They enter the palace and have some tea and leave. Frustrated, Bill says, "Double or nothing, you don't know the Pope!" "Benny!" says Ned, "Let's go!" When they get to the Vatican, Ned instructs Bill to wait outside and Ned will come out on the balcony with his arm around the Pope. After a while, a crowd gathers to hear the Pope speak. And as told by Ned, when the Pope came out, Ned's arm was wrapped around him. Ned looks down from the balcony and see's Bill passed out on the ground. He rushes down and wakes him up. "Bill! Bill! Wake up!" Bill opens his eyes and says, "Ned. You're the most popular man in the world." "I told you that, Bill," says Ned, "but you didn't faint when I knew the President! You didn't faint when I knew the Queen!" "Well I was shocked that you knew the Pope," says Bill. "But I just couldn't take it when the guy next to me tapped me on the shoulder and said "Who's that up there with Ned?"

I have similar problems with my LSP 350R since more than a year. It has not been rectified despite changing four boards etc, etc. There is nothing that RCL or LG can do about this at all except maybe replace the handset. Best thing you could do, is to return the handset to LG/RCL and ask for a total replacement. Since this is a RUIM based phone, you will not have any problems. Email to corp.center, service assurance etc and see the response. Thanks

Reliance Communications Acquires 1.2 Million Subscribers In March 2007
KumaarShah replied to Honest's topic in Reliance Communications
RCL has added only 1.2 mln customers whereas Airtel has added 6.1 mln customers in the same period. SO RCL is way, way behind. Obviously, customers do not want to be taken for a gala ride on board the now unreliable RCL. Hey raccoon, your's is one more Airtel in the 6.1 mln, Ha Ha Ha. All know about the new policies of the avaricious RCL and they will not touch RCL with a bargepole. The only people who add up in this 1.2 mln business are the poor auto, vegetable/fruit vendors, barbers, drainage cleaners etc who get carried away by the free 1500/2000 minute offer that RCL gives alongwith the 1399/1599 etc stupid handset schemes. After the free minutes are used up, they will just throw away RCL with their handsets. What exactly is brewing in ADA's mind and why does he not realise the harsh ground realities? Or is it a lull before the storm? I know there aren't going to be any severe storms from RCL though. Or is he just sleeping content with the 1 lakh crore capitalisation thing? Or is he very busy, scheming other businesses? The sooner he gets up or understands the realities, the better. Or else, next month onwards, ADA/RCL will see far, far lesser numbers. Thanks
