One more option is the Motorola W205 at Rs 2500. It has a color screen, 500 contacts and 750 SMS store. Check out at the nearest retailer about this model. I am not sure about the SMS user interface and how easy or difficult it is to send SMSs to groups. I would rather you go in for some S60 phone maybe 2nd hand. Nothing to beat that for SMS. Thanks

Tarzan, King of the Elephant Trunk Tarzan gets into a huge fight with a lion in the jungles of Africa. The lion is defeated, but not before it rips off Tarzan's arm, eye, and ****. Of course, Tarzan's jungle friends help him out by giving him the parts he needs -- the eye of an eagle, the arm of a gorilla, and an elephant trunk for a ****. A while later, Cheeta the Chimp asks Tarzan how his new parts are working out for him. "Tarzan like. With new eye, can see far. With new arm, Tarzan strong. But no like new wee-wee." "Why's that?" "It keep taking weeds and shoving in Tarzan's ***."

@copperco2, CD facility is available for all postpaids under the following conditions:- 1. Unconditional Divert - By *301 followed by the local number only 2. Divert on Not reachable/no reply/off - by *303 ---ditto---- 3. Divert on Busy - *305 ---ditto---- All CD can be cancelled by dialling the next number i.e *302 or *304 or *306 or better still by *308 for all cancellations if you are unsure. Further when you activate CD on no reply by *303xx, your phone will get the rings for about six to eight rings if it is on and if it is not reachable/off, then the call will divert to the preset number automatically. However the calling person will hear some beeps which only means that the network is searching for the phone and in case it is unavailable due to not reachable/off status, it will then divert. If you reject the call on your original phone on which you have set up the CD *303, that call will get diverted to the preset number. In Unconditional CD by *301xx, the calling person will straightway connect to the diverted number and you will not hear any rings at all. If you have diverted to any GSM number, "Diverted Call" will flash on the GSM handset when it receives a diverted call. If you divert it to another RCL number, no such message will flash on the diverted number and that person will not know whether he is receiving a diverted call. Further the number to which you have diverted your calls cannot call you at all (this is one problem with RCL, which they have not been able to solve till now) Yes, in Airtel, this feature is available. i.e the divertee (the number to which you have diverted calls) number can call the diverter (your phone) number under all circumstances. I hope you and your friend can take advantage of the above. In case you need further help, do post here. Thanks P.S.: CD facility is available for all postpaid phones on RCL network, this facility does not vary from model to model. it is same across all phones on RCL network. So this is not unique for 6265.

Wild Irish Ho's An Irish daughter had not been home for over five years. Upon her return, her father cursed her. Where have ye been all this time? Why did ye not write to us, not even a line? Why didn't ye call? Can ye not understand what ye put yer old mum thru? The girl, crying, replied, "Sniff, sniff... Dad... I became a prostitute..." "Ye what!!? Out of here, ye shameless harlot! Sinner! You're a disgrace to this family." "OK, Dad -- as ye wish. I just came back to give mum this luxurious fur coat, title deed to a ten bedroom mansion plus a savings certificate for $5 million." "For me little brother, this gold Rolex and for ye daddy, the sparkling new Mercedes limited edition convertible that's parked outside plus a membership to the country club... (takes a breath)... and an invitation for ye all to spend New Years' Eve on board my new yacht in the Riviera, and..." "Now what was it ye said ye had become?" says dad. Girl, crying again, "Sniff, sniff....a prostitute dad! Sniff, sniff. "Oh! Be Jesus! Ye scared me half to death, girl! I thought ye said a Protestant. Come here and give yer old man a hug."

An elderly lady phoned her telephone company An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile elderly lady. He climbed a nearby telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the telephone began to ring. Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found: 1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel chain and collar. 2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose. 3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone number was called. 4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate on himself and the ground. 5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring. Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning. Sounds similar to our great RCL, na!!!! ha ha ha

Reliance Communications ties up with BSNL for Toll-Free Services
KumaarShah replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
^^^ AFAIK, if you prefix the STD codes to the tollfree number, it no longer remains toll free. In any case, everything about this topic (tying up with BSNL for allowing access to toll free numbers) is a huge eye-wash from RCL. They have been hardly able to give access to even 10 (or maybe only 5) toll free numbers. There are almost 600+ toll free numbers across India. Thanks -
^^^ I agree with petar on this issue. raccoon, you are slightly wrong about your views on RW, but 100% right about RCL. RW is not only for complaints about RCL, but also for people to get and share more info on various topics under the sun related to RCL, which would have been impossible to get from even RCL or their ubiquitous CC/HL. Thanks.
-
^^^ yes, i agree 100% with pankaj on this.

^^^ nothing in India with our great RCL and TATA. All the above fundoo things will happen only in USA. To happen here it will be 2011, by which time some ultra fundoo things will happen in USA. So relax, RCL/TATA will never bring anything new here. They will only try to milk you off if at all they bring such things here earlier. They are waiting for this opportunity always. Anyway RCL wants to show highest ARPU in the country at any cost. And we are the ones who are going to be their bridesmaid. Thanks

Hi Petar, I was just joking, no offence meant. I had mentioned it in the post itself. Somehow it has slipped your attention. Anyway, cool it, man. Thanks

Hi, what is this about CDMA becoming a local phone? Are you not aware that RCL is charging 1.40/2.40 and 1.75 nowadays (from 15.2.7 to be more precise) The olden days are gone when what you have stated was prevalent. Now all are equal (GSM and CDMA) In fact some plans of GSM are still cheaper like the One India plans where you still get Re 1 pm on roaming i/c and o/g unlike our great (or is it Stupid or lecherous) RCL which wants to make the highest ARPUs by fleecing us left, right, front and center? However in case of TATA, i am not aware of their roaming rates on all plans. Do they give pre 15.2.7 rates still? Last week I remember seeing an ad by TATA in the local newspaper about their Business 349 plan which was touted as 'India's best roaming plan' with 500 minutes of free roaming i/c etc, etc. Frankly speaking I am still sceptical about TATA's policies - you never know when they will turn chameleon and leave us high and dry. No doubt, they want numbers now and thats why they are offering such goodies. But how long the honeymoon will last is the moot question. @petar, You seem to be in love with RCL. Sorry man, no hard feelings - just joking. Anyway, everyone has their own views and pluses and minuses about GSM or CDMA. It is upto the buyer to finally assess which technology is better and then jump in. Network coverage is not that good in CDMA whereas in GSM, since you have open roaming, you can select whichever provider has a network in that roaming location. In CDMA, this is not possible and you may end up losing what you have been saving for almost four years by a bad day in such location. Or there may be some life saving or life threatening situation and you are left holding an advanced CDMA toy which cannot communicate. In such times, you will definitely appreciate GSM. @raccoon, I posted somewhere about Daryl Green claiming that CDMA phones emit much lesser radiation than GSM phones (to be precise again, it was stated that CDMA phones emit only 1/8th radiation than GSM) and that this fact would be widely advertised in their future advt. campaigns. So if what you have stated as per your experience is true, then it appears that Mr Green is just fibbing us. or does it mean only on some basic models like 2030 or something similar. Maybe the newer models may not be that emission friendly or is it unfriendly? RCL has never claimed about this emission business and so I take it with a pinch of salt. Maybe they want to fool someone and add numbers like this. It would be wise if TATA gives some proof about this rather than just tom-tom. Thanks

You can search the forum for the answers to the above, as all the points enumerated by you have been discussed threadbare in this forum already. However, in a gist, it will be prudent to go GSM now rather than remaining with RCL because RCL will only increase all rates now onwards. And you are living in a dream-world if you believe that DAPO has attractive tariffs. Only thing there is free unltd SMS and yes free WAP if you go in for 6265/6275/2865 etc. Call charges are horribly high for both local as well as STD. and roaming rates have been hiked to all time high for all plans. It is definitely prudent to go GSM now. This is the right time. Maybe you can retain the DAPO for free SMS (if you are a heavy SMS er) or sell it and get some premium to bring down your cost of going GSM. GSM also has some better tariffs, which you will come to know if you browse the forum properly. Even otherwise, you can enquire with your GSM friends/relatives for attractive plans. And yes, do not wait for RCL to go GSM, they will fare even worse there. NOW IS THE RIGHT TIME TO KICK RCL's ***. You will never regret your decision. Thanks.

What about our great RCL, TATA and BSNL number lists on the CD? are they not available?

In Chennai, most of the operators are offering on prepaid the following rates: - C2C Re 0.50 pm C2L Rs 1.20 pm C2STD Rs 2.00 pm (any network STD) Local SMS free upto 100 per day and then onwards Re 0.20 per local SMS, STD SMS Re 1.00 per SMS (any local SMS to any FWPs is considered as STD SMS and charged at Re 1.00) Roaming tariffs as per TRAI (1.75 for i/c, 1.40/2.40 for local/STD o/g) The best part is that you get full talktime with 6 months validity on a Rs 998 recharge. RCL on the other hand offers the above tariffs on using the STV of Rs 49 (earlier it was Rs 33) with only one month validity and no special rates for R2R. If you want both the worlds, then use STV 99 in which R2RIM only is at Re 0.15 pm and rest all as above. The national SMS is at Rs 2 with RCL, whereas RCL offers unlimited local SMS to any network/number for Rs 30 per month. However six months validity combined with full talktime is not available with RCL, hence it is not popular with college and student folks. Add to that the SMS limitations of 160 characters (I mean LMS sending and receiving), lousy handsets (even if one is willing to pay much more), marriage or is it bonded labour to RCL, and lack of basic call mgt features like CW, CC, VM etc renders RCL unattractive where it matters most. Anyway it is RCL's baby, let them make it run or falter every step. It will learn to run maybe after twenty or thirty years and not before that at any cost. I presume RCL is waiting for Vodafone to launch officially and then the fireworks will start, till then, RCL wants to sleep peacefully, and let whatever happen in the interim - let old customers ditch RCL, let existing rave and rant at RCL's policies, nothing will disturb their peaceful sleep. @ raccoon, anuragz et al, I suggest we allow RCL to sleep peacefully and let us leave RCL immediately, maybe after Voda wakes them and if RC has learnt to run properly, we may think of coming back, what say? Thanks.

Nothing can be done with the new RCL now. Pay up and enjoy their services.
-
Is the above service for the aam aadmi or for the corporate users?
-
@anuragz, Pretty comprehensive comparison between TATA and RCL. Any idea how is TATA's service in Chennai? I am fed up with RCL and want to shift to either Tata or GSM. And yes, I asked somebody who has a TATA connection in Chennai, he has told me that the service is good, though I am a bit sceptical of his opinion. But as already discussed on this forum in several posts, the quality of services will remain good as long as there are fewer customers, the moment the number of customers go up, the quality of services definitely drop very badly. We have been experiencing all this with almost all operators whether GSM or CDMA. Till TATA reaches this milestone of about 30 million customers, their services will remain good. Once they reach there, everything and anything is possible, either service problems or tariff problems etc. It is not that I am pro-RCL or anti-TATA, but what I have been experiencing over the last decade and more that I have been mobile, is what I have posted here. All are rogues, no one's a saint. We have to analyse all the pros and cons properly before jumping to another service provider's bandwagon. Before I sign off, please check on what raccoon has enquired about the LMS sending and receiving and post your results here for our benefit. I am also very keen to know this service parameter before making any decision. One more thing, can one take multiple packs of the 3000 SMS in one month or only one pack. What if I need 10,000 SMS per month? I agree with you that TATA has numerous add-on packs which can be added onto any plan on TATA. Thanks.

Hutch Helps Customers Select Tariff
KumaarShah replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
High hopes. Trai will not do that. All operators will cry foul and see to it that this stops. But maybe people can try a third party which offers something similar. Try yourbillbuddy.com. It maybe of use to all. Though not always. Enjoyyyyyy..... -
@hpnasik, any way out for this?

Hutch Helps Customers Select Tariff
KumaarShah replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
RCL will not do the same for obvious reasons - the customer will take the cheapest plan applicable for him after comparisons. This way RCL will lose ARPUs so they will not do the needful at all. They boast of the best technology available but it is used only for their benefit and not the customers' benefit. -
What "sankar is still on the coconut tree" means??? Is it some saying from Kerala? As for your query, try to use data cable and see if it works properly. Or uninstall PCSuite, restart your system, reinstall PCSuite and then try. It might work. If you have any earlier version of PCSuite, try installing that and see if it works properly. I had some other problem with PCSuite Ver 6.8.22 and it was not sorting out my problems. I tried many instals, uninstals, reinstals of the same versions, no luck. In between the uninstal and the reinstalls, I also tried out restarting my computer, but still no luck. Maybe the techies on our forum can tell us why this happens. So finally, I uninstalled it, restarted my computer (even though the OS is WinXP Prof) and then reinstalled the older version Rel 6.81.13 and bingo, my problem has got sorted out. You can try my method, Maybe it will work. Thanks

@kk999, thanks for your input. I also think that this pack is only an eyewash from RCL. And as abc2005 says, the sms will disturb you during the night. In case anyone is really interested, they can as well watch the match instead of these sms's. It may be useful for those who are unable to access the TV. anyway, I am not opting for this pack. Thanks.
