  1. All About Nokia 6265

Can any one provide me the procedure to use a NCP miniSD card on this 6265 phone. It shows unformatted every time, although it worked fine on my earlier LG6230 phone. I tried with Nokia SC, but they threw up their hands saying this make is incompatible with Nokia 6265. Finally, will a 2GB miniSD work properly on this phone? Someone had used it but will anyone provide a more clear picture on this 2 gb card? And yes, what would be the price of a 2 GB card. Thanks in advance..........
  2. My Take On 6265

what the last line means? modding phorums? And yes you can use the scheduler to set multiple alarms - as many as you like, AFAIK. Enjoooooooooooooooyyyyyyyyyy.
  3. Should We Dump our TV Tuner Cards

@amtraq, You are absolutely right. STB is not required for viewing F2A channels. You can connect right to the computer just like you would connect to a TV. @imranais, You do not require a STB for viewing F2A channels. But yes you are right that for viewing F2A, we have to pay Rs 80 per month. One has to understand that a lot of cabling and equipment is required for transmission of all channels and hence this cost is charged. And yes most of the Chennaites are very content paying just Rs 80 pm instead of Rs 250 to Rs 300 pm for viewing only Tamil Channels, which are now free under CAS. Only the likes of Star, Zee and Sony are pay channels apart from sports channels. So Chennaites do not miss the pay channels at all as it is very cheap for them to view the F2A channels only as compared to their counterparts in the rest of the country.
  4. Yippie ! I got Microsoft MVP 2007 Award

  5. Usb Pen Drive

any one has any idea about the 1GB or 2GB miniSD card for 6265? will 2Gb work on 6265? and the prices also. Thanks
  6. Free New Reliance Number!

And what will you get by blanking the handsets???
  7. Should We Dump our TV Tuner Cards

The above is true, We in Chennai are having STBs since July 2003 and if you use multiple TVs for one STB, all TVs will have to see the same channel only. As for the TV tuner cards, I dont foresee any problem in connecting the STB to it. It should work and as Puneet already said, we would have had to change all our TVs also if it were true. So, do not as yet dump your TV Tuner cards for now. Maybe you can seel it to places other than the metros for a song. Thanks
  8. @ Arun, The excel file needs to be updated now with newer network info. It is almost five months old now and a number of new area codes have been introduced by all operators now. Thanks
  9. I Want To Write A Hateful Complaint Mail

HA HA HA HEE HEE HEE I almost fell off my chair reading this hilarious post. Atleast we RIMWEBians have a good sense of humour, which the entire RCL people lack. Great Fun reading this post. Keep it up. Atleast the monotony of reading complaints galore against Reliance is killed by such hilarious posts. @tanveer, No amount of Gandhigiri or Goondagiri will work against our beloved ADA and his cronies. Maybe you can give it a try. For your info and for others on this post, I refer to my rather pleasant experience at getting Unbilled Info from the CC yesterday. I had called up *333 yesterday morning and asked for the UB info on my corporate FWPs. I got the polite response that the computers were updation and then the CCE asked for my contact number. I asked him why he wanted my contact number. He again very politely told me that since the computers were under updation, he has been advised toget the customers numbers and that they will call me back as soon as the required info is available with them. Anyway I gave them my number rather sceptical that there will be no call and that this would be another gimmick. But to my pleasant surprise, there was a call in the evening, on the contact number given by me, advising me the UB info. So it seems that some RCL bloke is reading our posts and taking serious note of our comments. I remember that we had commented rather sarcastically on this endless computer updation feature on this forum about a month back. And yes, today i got a call from the local town office asking me about the WAP problem like what exactly was the problem and did I go to the service center for rectifying this problem. I very politely told her that this was a network problem and not a handset problem and hence this does not warrant a visit to the SC. Look at the ignorance of the town office people also. I also told her that TATA although a smaller company offers WAP access whereas Reliance being India's largest CDMA company does not offer this service. The largest communications company was unable to sort out the issue and is still dilly dallying on the issue for one and a half month now. Shame on Reliance. She told me that she will carry forward the complaint to the HO and that this problem will be rectified soon. After this I ended the call. Anyway, it apears that they are now waking up after a good sleep. So lets take advantage now that they seem to have got up. Let us not be sarcastic or vengeful in our dealings with CC or any other place. Maybe some good will come up now, I hope. Thanks.
  10. It is available in Chennai already for the last three to four days, however it as an only Tamil FM channel much like the other existing FM channels.
  11. Get 2 Numbers On Your Mobile Soon !

Hope for the best, it may be possible some day. But not on Reliance. anyway keep hoping for the best.
  12. R-world On Tataindicom

how, when wap has been disabled by reliance and how from BREW enabled handsets?
  13. All About Nokia 6265

WAP Both Nokia and Reliance CC do not want to help out on the technicalities of the 6265 and surprisingly, nokia.co.in does not supprt 6265 at all and when I wrote to them, they expressed their regrets and told me to visit their asia pacific site for any assistance on 6265. Both Nokia and Reliance and also TATA have taken us to be fools and sold the handsets at exorbitant prices as compared to the features it now supports. The WAP feature will not be activated for a very long time as Reliance does not know how to keep Rworld access free and yet charge for other WAP sites. Rworld is a WAP site as you all already know by now. Hence the delay is technical and there is no way out as of now. If WAP is made chargeable, then the very first screen of Rworld (the menu) also will be chargeable - which will not be liked by anyone. This is my understanding after prolonged discussions with CC, I may be wrong in my assessment on WAP. I think we RIMWEBians will have to offer some model for charging of WAP services to Reliance. Any one has any ideas? The above post has been posted also in "Worried users of Nokia 6265" This has again been posted for the benefit of members of this post. Hope the mods do not find this objectionable. Thanks

maybe your problem was at a time when the CMO used to work, not now. I used to employ the same method - addressing the email to various email IDs openly (cc) and not by bcc. It used to work even two months back, but nowadays it does not work at all and the CMO is closed down and replaced by cronies who do not have any knowledge at all.
  15. what about the cost to and fro pda? are both free?
  16. Worried Users Of Nokia 6265

Hi, If I have understood your issue accurately then, there is a solution. Example you have 2 numbers under the same name, Maybe one Mobile which is Default and another is Landline. While Dialling the 1st Number if its switched off and now you want to dial the other number without going into contacts and selecting the number as per the long procedure you described, Just go to your Dialled numbers, by pressing call key, If any contact has more then 1 number then on the center of the screen it will show as Details, Click on Details and will show all numbers saved for that contact select the one you want and dial. But the only glitch is you will atleast once have to dial the other number and only then in the dialled numbers the option of Details will be available. and The same details will stay uptill that number is in the history of Dialled numbers. If you have only 1 number for the contact then it will show as View in the center of the screen. I hope this solves your problem. Hi Chirag, The above is possible only when you have dialled out all the numbers against a contacts name. If you have dialled out only one number, the details will not appear and only view will appear. In this case, LG 5130 and all the latest LG models are far superior. In the dialled calls or recent calls list, you just have to press the right or left key and you get different numbers of a contact and you can diall out any number against the contact. To take this particular issue further, there is one very crude work-around. This is similar to the 99 speed-dials in a LG handset. In Nokia, if you enter contacts on the RUIM (against each contact - only one number is possible), you can recall these by pressing 1#, 2#, 3# and so on. You will have to remember the stored location number, but again, you can afford to forget as the number will be displayed and on pressing the green call key only, the number will be dialled out. So effectively, you have more than 99 speed-dials on your phone. You have more than 100 or 150 or 250 speed-dials as per your RUIM card size. So enjoy this feature, although its a bit crude. You cannot however set the location, it is by default only. The first number you enter on the RUIM is automatically set to number 1# and so on. If there is any way out, please let me know also. IN EFFECT, your RUIM card becomes a SPEED-DIAL LIST. Hope the above crude way helps out Nokia 6265 users who are desperately missing LG's Speed Dial feature.
  17. Worried Users Of Nokia 6265

When did reliance start MMS to other providers? Now dont tell me that you could do it with your 6230. And i can post the screenshot of my phone with the number of messages if that makes you believe. I too agree that we can store around 100 SMS in Nokia6265, but my point is "Do you really think this is sufficient for a high end phone like Nokia 6265" ?? Nokia should have provided a facility to store SMS in mini SD card. This feature is lacking and this is why I am telling Nokia 6265 comes with poor software. Somebody should comment on the support Nokia is providing for 6265 Thanks Anoop The RUIM cards issued by Reliance are of 3 types - the lowest has 100 contacts memory and 8 SMSs storage. the next has 150 contacts and 10 SMSs storage. the highest capacity RUIM has 250 contacts and 30 SMSs storage. If your RUIM is the smallest capacity, you can go to the WW and change it to the highest capacity RUIM by paying Rs. 200. You will have to check at the WW for availability of highest capacity RUIMs. @anoop_ds And yes, the Nokia 6265 does have very, very limited SMS storage capacity (as compared to the features and price paid by us), which has been done purposely by both CDMA operators in India. ADA alone knows the reason for this. There is no way in which we can increase the SMS storage capacity unless Rel and Tata agree to increase the storage capacity. In the same way, even the message length is restricted to 160 characters. In any case, if more length SMS is allowed, the CDMA operators only would rake in the moolah. Considering that the SMS rates are the highest for Reliance only in India. We must give credit to ADA for making this happen - he has thought highest and thought best for SMS charges for Reliance. hee hee hee. Both Nokia and Reliance CC do not want to help out on the technicalities of the 6265 and surprisingly, nokia.co.in does not supprt 6265 at all and when I wrote to them, they expressed their regrets and told me to visit their asia pacific site for any assistance on 6265. Jai ADAG Reliance. They have now perfected the art of looting and screwing up customers. They do not want the old customers now as they are a loss to them. They only want newer customers whom they can fleece royally. Enjooooooooooooooooooooy the new Reliance - think better, think bigger by looting and screwing customers royally. And yes, the Chairman's office is now redundant. The emails sent to this ID will bounce back with the cryptic response, "domain not found" and in any case, gone are the days when the CMO used to be working effectively and efficiently. It is now certain that ADA does not have any time at all for RCL and he has allowed all his cronies to f**k up the company and all their customers royally.
  19. Well, it is like this. The urban market has reached a plateau now. The market is there only in the hinterland or the rural areas. These rural areas do not need any fancy handsets at all. They only want something which will provide pan-India connectivity at affordable rates. So,why should Reliance/Nokia/LG/Samsung/etc introduce high-end handsets when there is no big market for these? It is plain business sense and nothing else. The volumes are there only in the low priced handsets and not in the high price handsets. Can Reliance and Nokia ink a deal for 2 million 6265 handsets?it willtake them ten years or more to sell that qty. I am not against introduction of highend handsets, it is only that business sense drives such low end handset introductions. Thats all.
  20. All About Nokia 6265

Well I emailed to Nokia Support and the reply I got to this unformatted issue was that I should go to the Nokia service center and sort out the issue. And mind you, they advised me to take the original bill also as proof of warranty validity. Now this is certainly funny. Did nokia release this handset more than a year back in India? Anyway, I did not go to NokiaSC. As advised on this forum,I will try to flash the miniSD card elsewhere and make it work on my 6265. Only after this fails, will I think of going to NokiaSC.
  21. Cheap phones hit Qualcomm royalties in India TIMES NEWS NETWORK [sATURDAY, JUNE 24, 2006 03:59:16 AM] MUMBAI: India contributes about 2.2% to the total revenues earned by Qualcomm from royalties globally. Of the total world-wide sale of handsets, about 8% in volume terms are sold in India, according to the company officials. However, they did not elaborate on comparable contributions by other countries like China and Korea. “About 2.2% of handset royalties came from India last year, even though the country accounted for approximately 8% of the royalty-bearing units reported to us by our licensees,” said Mike Hartogs, V-P and Division Counsel, Qualcomm Technology Licensing, answering an ET query. “Royalties out of India are lower than the Indian share of handset shipments which further indicate that the royalties on handsets in India are the lowest in the world.” Qualcomm officials refused to disclose exact royalty rates, citing confidentiality clauses, but said the lowest royalty can be attributed to the cheapest handset prices. “The royalty on handsets paid in India is 15% lower than the corresponding figure in China,” said Mr Hartogs. The Qualcomm officials were speaking at a Web cast organised in San Diego, USA, on Thursday. Qualcomm is the patent holder for the CDMA technology and has come under fire for charging higher royalties in India compared to other countries lately. Elaborating on the proposed reduction in royalties, Qualcomm officials said as it’s a low percentage in single digit, it works out to a negligible amount in absolute dollar terms on a $40 phone — about $2 if one considers royalty in the region of 4-5%. “It is hardly a significant driver of price reduction,” said Mr Hartogs. Besides, he said, two-thirds of the CDMA handsets sold in India were sub-$50 handsets and about 98% below $75. Kanwalinder Singh, president, Qualcomm India and Saarc, reiterated the company’s commitment to competition by working with their partners and the ecosystem continually to drive wholesale pricing down. Qualcomm officials maintained that the royalty rates had not changed over the past several years. “Qualcomm has not increased its standard royalty rate while its patent portfolio has grown substantially. The licensing model of Qualcomm reduces royalty stacking,” added Mr Hartogs. Citing a study by the Yankee group, a company official said there was a $4 difference between the GSM and CDMA handset prices for the low-end category, that is sub-$50 handsets. There is a $38 differential in the average selling price of a GSM phone compared to its CDMA counterpart. Qualcomm also raised the issue of royalties in the GSM space which they claimed was in the range of 3-29%. Link Courtesy: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1675249.cms

As to how to disable it, please note you can reject the call by pressing END key twice and can make the ringtone/vibrate silent, by pressing the END key once. There is no other way out. Just ignore the SMS reject button when you do want to send SMS on call reject. Its that simple. ENJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOY thanks

  25. All About Nokia 6265

Hi All, The following is the email I received from Nokia Helpline. This is being shared for the benefit of fellow users of 6265. Hope it is useful. Thanks Email:- ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: NokiaCare <support.services@nokia.com> Date: Aug 21, 2006 9:00 AM Subject: Nokia - Kumaar Shah - N6265 Phone Enquiry To: kumarent@gmail.com Dear Mr. Shah, Thank you for emailing Nokia Care. This e-mail is in reference to your enquiry regarding Nokia 6265 phone. We appreciate your valuable feedback regarding the unavailability of Nokia 6265 phone under the support section in our website and the unavailability of phone lock system on your handset. We have forwarded the same to the relevant department for further course of action. An update in this regard shall be posted on the web site. In reference to your enquiry about the stand by time, please note that there may be a variation in stand by / talk time depending on the network signal strength, profile settings and usage style. Kindly note that the use of FM radio and integrated hands-free might also affect the talk time and the standby. Battery Talk time and Standby time mentioned in the sales pack are estimates and depend on network configuration, signal strength, features used, battery age and condition, charging practices, temperatures to which battery is exposed, whether use is in digital mode (or analog mode, if applicable), and many other factors. The amount of time a phone is used for calls will affect its Standby time. Likewise, the amount of time that the phone is turned on and is in standby mode will affect its Talk time. You may kindly note, to achieve optimal performance from a new battery it usually takes two to three, complete charge and discharge cycles. We recommend you to charge the battery only when it has completely discharged. You would have to charge the battery until you get the message 'Battery Full'. Kindly note that you can send and receive messages containing text, images, audio and video with MMS 1.2 (up to 600K message size) on this handset. The message storage capacity depends on the shared memory of this handset and further this handset does not support enhancing the message storage capacity on this handset. We request you to kindly contact your network operator regarding the concern you are facing with the WAP browser in your handset.
