Niket .... You can try this -Open up the Control Panel -Double click on the Modem icon -Click on Properties / Connection / Advanced -In the Extra Settings, enter S10=10 -This will enable the modem to stay connected without a carrier for up to 10 seconds. Do not know whether this will work... But try and post what you found

Even on a dedicated leased line the speed varies according to the network load... I do not mind it varying by a few KB... But Rconnect graph in Flashget varies from 0 to 12 KB.... 8 to 12 might have been much better

RD 2030 is the best... Even though its B/W has become sort of a cult now

Hi Vishal, I programmed it to take address of first hop. Which IP address should i take first hop or the second hop for pinging??. I am having Win98 and cannot get the server IP address.. Can some one tell me how to get the server ip address in Win 98 Thanks to all!!! This is the link of Reliance Dormancy Solver

Phew......... At last some one said that its working fine... Now there is no need for you to open a DOS window and also do tracert and ping manually... Hope my little application works perfectly for every one..
-
Did my application work for some one... Please post... it works fine for me
-
I had to take some server for first step of tracert . I tried with google.com and mail.yahoo.com mail.yahoo.com was better... First press the start button.... it will tracert on mail.yahoo.com and will take the ip address of first hop(Server address).... once its complete, second step of pinging will start which will continuously ping the server address. It is a plain looking window with no buttons...... If you want to stop it... just close the window
-
is it taking the server address of first hop in tracert. I programmed it to take that.... and it seems to work fine for me.....
-
I did it.... It looks a bit dirty but does the job You can get it from Ping App Start it and click on START.. It first does a TRACERT and continuously pings the first IP address Try it and please post whether its working

Hi Sanay, Its simple... Copy whatever code i have given below... in notepad @echo off :10 ping google.com ping mail.yahoo.com ping relianceinfo.com ping rimweb.com ping gmail.com ping aol.com ping yahoo.com ping 123greetings.com ping baazee.com Goto 10 note: if you want to put more servers do so .... add each in seperate lines Save the file as png.bat Do not save with .txt extension Now go ahead and double click on the png.bat which you just created.. It will open in a DOS window and start pinging endlessly After connecting with Rconnect, run this batch file... Now it will not go to dormant stage.
-
Create a Dos batch file with the following @echo off :10 ping server1 ping server2 ........ ........ add some more servers ....... ....... Goto 10 Run the batch file when ever you connect to Rconnect and minimize the Dos box.. This solved the problem for me...

Most investors in Reliance Industries may not know it, but the company which focuses on its energy and petrochemicals businesses, had last year strayed into telecom procurement and marketing operations, involving thousands of crores of rupees. Although the Reliance annual report makes no mention of this, the company last year had entered into an agreement with Reliance Infocomm (in which it has a minority stake as a lead investor) to buy mobile handsets, conduct sales, maintain accounts, do billing work and collect money due to Infocomm. Reliance is understood to have imported handsets and other equipment totaling an estimated Rs 4,000 crore (Rs 40 billion), though this figure could not be confirmed. While there is no mention of this in the company's annual report, what has been disclosed in the Reliance annual report is that the company gave financial guarantees, amounting at different points of time to between Rs 1,500 crore (Rs 15 billion) and Rs 5,000 crore (Rs 50 billion), to Infocomm so that it could roll out its business. These exposures are over and above the Rs 12,000 crore (Rs 120 billion) that Reliance has invested in Infocomm, through equity and preference shares. The details of how Reliance would be compensated for this work, and how profitable the activity has been, are not known. When contacted, a senior executive of Reliance Industries said "Reliance certainly gets a return on this activity," but would not divulge details. It is not known whether this would be a temporary or permanent arrangement. A Reliance Group spokesman, while confirming the arrangement between the two companies, maintained that all disclosures have been made "in line with the guidelines". Informed sources said that the arrangement between the two companies followed the failure of Infocomm's Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer scheme, under which subscribers would have been locked in for a three-year period and make an upfront payment of Rs 22,000. Assuming 5 million customers for the scheme, Infocomm would have raised Rs 11,000 crore (Rs 110 billion). But with the scheme failing to take off, Infocomm launched its Monsoon Hungama scheme whereby handsets were offered to customers for as little as Rs 500. These handsets, it is now revealed, were bought and paid for by Reliance Industries -- which meant that Infocomm was using Reliance Industries' cash flow. When and how Reliance Industries was compensated for this activity is not known, since group officials did not give details. Sources also noted that the Reliance Industries decision to subscribe to preference shares issued by Infocomm, to the extent of Rs 8,100 crore (Rs 81 billion), followed this arrangement and presumably helped fund the squaring off of the original transaction. The marketing arrangement between Reliance and Infocomm, worked out through a memorandum dated June 30, 2004, said, "Reliance shall bear all expenses in marketing of sales scheme and it shall not be entitled to set off any dues from Infocomm except to the extent of compensation due to the marketing agreement." An information memorandum filed reveals that Reliance is solely responsible for promotion of the Infocomm business -- from procurement of handsets and marketing the schemes to collection of bills. The marketing agreement between Reliance and Infocomm states that Reliance, if required, will enter into agreements with distributors, retailers or other persons for the promotion and marketing of schemes and services. While marketing the services, Reliance will also be free to bundle the tariff plans of Infocomm with other products and services as it deems fit, and offer composite schemes to customers. The nature of the deal * Reliance Industries had entered into an agreement with Infocomm to buy mobile handsets, conduct sales and maintain accounts * The Reliance annual report only mentions that the company gave financial guarantees, amounting to between Rs 1,500 cr and Rs 5,000 cr, to Infocomm * These exposures are over and above the Rs 12,000 cr that Reliance has invested in Infocomm through equity and preference shares

Family seeks details from Mukesh NEW DELHI: In a new twist to the ongoing tussle for control of the Rs 90,000-crore Reliance empire, the rest of Ambani family has asked RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani to furnish "appropriate details" of the ownership issues, which he claimed were settled by family patriarch Dhirubhai during his lifetime. Family sources confirmed that over the weekend the "Ambani family", including mother Kokilaben and sisters Dipti and Neena requested Mukesh to furnish appropriate details as per his statement on November 22. Seeking to quell the raging controversy over his tussle with younger brother Anil, Mukesh had said last month that all "ownership issues" were "settled" during the lifetime of late Dhirubhai Ambani. "My remarks (on ownership issues) were torn out of context. Dhirubhai Ambani has settled all ownership issues pertaining to Reliance within his lifetime," he had said in a statement. "It is necessary to remove the confusion caused by deliberate misinterpretation or genuine misunderstanding. Therefore, I would like to set the right straight," he had said in that statement. According to sources, the "family's" view was that if Dhirubhai had settled all the "above" issues in his lifetime, members would abide by his decision. There was no reaction from Mukesh's camp on the missive from the other side.

Anil spurns Mukesh's settlement offer Mukesh Ambani has begun making overtures to his brother Anil Ambani, for splitting the Reliance group between them. Anil Ambani has so far rejected the offers made to him through their mother, Kokilaben. Informed observers said a settlement seemed unlikely at the moment. According to an informed source, Mukesh Ambani offered to transfer the control of Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital to his brother Anil Ambani, plus cash (one source said the figure was Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion), but a Reliance group official said the figure was incorrect), presumably to buy Reliance Industries' equity in both companies. The Reliance group holds 50.15 per cent of Reliance Energy's equity, directly and through Reliance Power Ventures and Reliance Industrial Investments & Holdings. The group has a 48.16 per cent interest in Reliance Capital, almost all of it held directly by RIL. Anil Ambani is said to have spurned the offer. A senior Reliance group executive said Anil Ambani wanted much more than this and that it would not be possible for his brother, Mukesh Ambani, to oblige. At last week's average market prices of the shares of both companies, the value of the Reliance group's holding in both companies comes to Rs 6,115 crore (Rs 61.15 billion). So, the sum offered does not seem to have covered the cost of buying the parent company's shareholding. Besides, said an informed source, the offer amounted to much less than the value of RIL's investment in Reliance Infocomm, which is mostly owned and managed by Mukesh Ambani. It is also an offer in which Anil Ambani gets nothing out of the promoter holdings in RIL (46 per cent of the total), other than the small number of shares in his name. It is reliably understood that Mukesh Ambani has made it clear that Reliance Industries as a company cannot be divided. Nor, after the war between the two brothers, can Anil Ambani stay on in Reliance Industries. From Anil Ambani's perspective, the value of the two companies being offered to him is a small percentage of the Rs 42,794 crore (Rs 427.94 billion) that the promoter's shareholding in all Reliance group companies is valued at, at current share market prices. Anil Ambani, therefore, viewed the offer as inadequate and unfair. In his two-page letter to Reliance Industries employees, Anil Ambani pointed out that he and his brother Mukesh Ambani along with their father, Dhrubhai Ambani, had built the company. Also, Reliance Energy needs gas for its power projects. For its proposed projects in Uttar Pradesh, it is supposed to get gas from Reliance Industries. But if Reliance Energy is spun off from the Reliance group, this arrangement need not continue. Even if it does, Reliance Industries can choke supply if it so wishes, as a source points out. A Reliance Energy board member told Business Standard last week that the company was prepared to buy gas from other sources, but that would alter the economics of the business.

Telecom tariffs in India can drop by 30-40 per cent more if the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India goes ahead with its planned cut in the access deficit charge (ADC). TRAI chairman Pradip Baijal said in Delhi on Friday that a cut in ADC can bring down telecom tariffs and boost the growth of the sector. "I do believe that tariffs can fall by 30-40 per cent if we give appropriate policy direction," Baijal said. ADC is a levy paid by private operators to state-run BSNL to offset its loss-making expansion for rural telephony. Baijal said TRAI might announce a cut in ADC by Tuesday. "I still have to convince my members to accept my proposal to cut ADC. By Monday or Tuesday we will submit our proposals," Baijal said. He maintained that cut in ADC would not impact the ADC that is passed on to fixed line operators. "We have tremendous opportunity for reducing ADC without hitting profits of fixed line because of enormous growth. We must encash on that growth by reducing ADC and thereby having another round of fall in tariffs," said Baijal. He said when ADC was cut earlier the mobile subscriber base was 21 million which has gone up to 30 million. "We want to take the mobile subscriber base to 50 million," Baijal said. "Unless you excite 70 per cent of the population in villages there will be no growth," TRAI Chairman said. To drive up teledensity in rural areas, tariffs must fall further, Baijal said, adding that the licence must allow broadband to have telephony so that tariffs can fall further. He said that in the next Union Budget government levies on broadband should be slashed.

There was a mass petition last year on www.petitiononline.com to have a high speed train overnight train from Bangalore to Trivandrum. It had thousands of signatures... Well it sort of worked as the journey time of Island Express from Bangalore to Kanyakumari is reduced now. You can still view it on this link http://www.petitiononline.com/btoset03/petition.html So we need more signatures on our petition to have some one notice it..
