Hi everybody, I'm facing this strange problem with R Connect. I'm getting the following errors: But when I use the Modem diagnostics and use the "Query Modem" function. I displays the responses as ok. Why the server closes my connection? I contacted CC and registered a complaint but they are saying that there may be a problem with my phone or my serial cable. But I don't think that's the case as the modem is responding to the AT commands. I asked the CC if there was a connetivity problem in my area but they said no there is no problem in my area. What you guys think can be the problem? and should I send an e-mail to the chairman's office regarding this problem.( I think the e-mail ID is anil.ambani@relianceinfo.com)

It was the faulty serial cable. Don't know why it was replying fine to the modem commands but upon connection it wouldn't transfer any data and the remote comupter would hang up. May the send/recv pin was damaged. Anyways, I got a new serial cable for only Rs. 50. So, yay!

Hi all, I'm a freedom plan subscriber. And as mentioned in the plan i get 100 free SMS/month. Earlier, i never used more than 100 but Last month i used about 195. But i wasn't charged for the 95 excess SMSs. Has reliance changed the plan. If yes, then how many free SMSs one gets in this plan?
-
This month I used more 420 SMSs and was charged for 220 SMSs. That means I'm getting 200 Free SMS. I don't know why others are getting just 100.

Here's my usage and discount as cut out from my bill.

Can it send sms to Reliance FWP as well? -
Hi everybody I have this strange problem. I've LG LSP-340E FWP phone. I was able to connect to the internet till yesterday. But when i started my computer today, and tried to connect, Windows displayed a message "Error 0692: There was a hardware failure in your modem.". I deleted the connection and uninstalled the modem drivers. I tried reintalling from the R Connect CD but it didn't detect my modem at the setup. I don't know what's wrong. I've Red Hat 9 on other partition(dual boot) and it's working fine in that. I don't have a clue why it's happening. Any ideas would be appreciated.
-
Solved I was using R Connect on my Red Hat 9 installation since morning. I just thought let's give it one more try on Win XP and rebooted in XP. I tried to connect and It got connect. I'm clueless as to what was wrong. But now it's working fine. May be some problem with reliance network. But then it should give some other error and not Hardware failure in modem. It was even refusing to dial. Anyways the problem is sorted for now. Don't know for how long it will work?
-
Hi Rajan What kind of information you want? Let me know and i'll post it here.
-
I've not changed anything since it was working. Phone is connected to the same COM1 port. Nothing changed. One thing that I'm suspecting is that some other process may be using the Com port and when i try to dial through it, it finds it busy and displays the error message. I tried to figure out what other process may be using the com port but with no luck.

My phone is connected through serial port at COM1. And also, I've tried unplugging and plugging again. But it doesn't work out.

That's stupid. What's the fun of having a lock code then. Once the master lock code becomes known, anybody can use any phone.

Hi everybody, I have reliance R Connect freedom plan. I've LG LSP 340E phone set. My d/l limit for a month is 1GB. I usually check my unbilled usage on reliance's website regularly. Last month, i didn't download much and my unbilled usage was 365 MB. Then, i decided to download a file ~600 MB. I kept my computer running for 2 days and the download was complete. But when i checked my unbilled usage, it went upto 1167 instead of 365+600=965. I was shocked. Then my new billing cycle began, It started showing my unbilled usage as 181 MB. Then suddenly, it changed to 44 MB. Then, i downloaded my bill from reliance site and I was really shocked to see my usage. It was reported as 1329 MB. and i was charged rs 2/mb above 1 GB. I definately knew what i've downloaded. I've not downloaded more than 1000 MBs. And they are showing a difference of at least ~300 MBs. I called CC, they were clueless about that. They told me that the bill was correct and i have infact downloaded that much. But when i insisted they registered a complaint and after a while I got a call on my phone from CC. I narrated the whole thing to that guy. I asked for the daily usage details but they declined to e-mail me that. Then i asked about those two days when i downloaded 600 MBs, and the guy told me that my usage for those 2 days was 870 MB. How can that happen. I think there is a bug in the accouting software that keeps track of my usage. Have you guys experienced such things. And I need advice on what i can do with that. I've already got my Bill. They have charged me Rs 610 extra for my excess usage.

I'm not saying that my estimate is accurate but the difference between my estimate and theirs is huge. I downloaded a file of about 600 MBs. Put some overhead and other things in there, the estimate should be around 700 MBs but still can never be 870 MBs. Also I always have windows update disabled, and my system is clean of spyware/trojans. So there is no chance that something else sent or downloaded the data. Also the CC guy told me that on one of the two days i downloaded 421 MBs and i remember on that day i just downloaded for about 10 hours. Can you hope to download 421 MBs in 10 hours given R Connect's speed. My rough estimate(from my experience of 6 months with R Connect) is about 20-30 MBs/Hour average. Meaning that, I could not have downloaded more than 300 MBs. BTW, I saw a thread on this forum about download usage monitors and now I'm using RAS that logs my usage. I'll post the differences soon(when i d/l some big file again).

I feel like going to the Consumer Court!

I know some data is uploaded also. But It cannot be that much. It's almost negligible when one downloades a file. In my case, when i downloaded that ~600 MB file, It should have been around 5 MBs or so(and not 270 MBs).
