  1. I don't think MTS will inform to customers about the service closure till 24th Dec, when Putin will be visiting India. There are lots of stuffs boiling inside. TRAI did this not for MTS only, the direction goes to Videocon, Tata, Uninor and MTS.

India already went against the wave, they put 4G on 2300 MHz, which is not at par with US or European standard (where 1800MHz is taken for more than 33% of LTE roll out, and 800MHz is used for rural areas in Europe), rather this band for 4G is to be used by Chinese operators. So 4G roll out takes time as the ecosystem is to be made. Airtel flops here, while RIL Infotel is going to be pioneer with own stuffs i.e. creating their own ecosystem. India's existing mobile operators are cash-stripped with this 3G, 4G and 2G auctions. and simply they can not afford to create a new ecosystem for 3G @900MHz which is not conventional.

    Reliance has quite good cdma coverage, remember Total Network ads ? But last 2 years Tata CDMA and MTS CDMA gives total competition to Reliance CDMA. Now MTS has widest EVDO coverage in circles it has commercial services. Tata and Reliance are both shifting to GSM as a result CDMA expansion halted.

    Sci-fi lovers - I strongly recommend you to watch In Time (2011) and Looper (2012). I am not going into details but I am damn sure you will like the concepts! Both are 4/5 !! Now going back to Skyfall aka Bond 23. It is a film with classic Bond elements - that humor, specially the reference to homosexuality, moneypenny, male M, Are you ready for next assignment and end saying JAMES BOND will RETURN !! I liked the way it ends, just the film before Dr. No. To all Bond lovers it's a genuine effort and Sam Mendes did it worth!
  8. Tata Docomo CDMA strategy s**ks! After exhausting your bundled usage (say 4.5GB on Rs 95 pack), internet is usable with your main balance at 10p/10kB, but tata docomo cdma keeps entertaining you and puts your prepaid balance in negative !! but IVR never says that - it says Zero !! I yesterday talked with CC and Chat - they are saying on GSM customers are protected from this type of bill shock, while CDMA customers are not.

    @abhi5891 It worked!! but on my second recharge the network often shifts to 1x from evdo. I have 14 INR in main balance. When tried to connect over 1x, it is getting remote computer does not response = Error 678. Any guess why it is happening? Btw what is the user/pass for BSNL EVDO in UPE?

  15. I never used Coolpad, but as I tried MTS MTag 351 (Alcatel/TCL made) and MTag 352 (ZTE made), I find ZTE MTag 352 is quite good.

    Watched English Vinglish - Sridevi's comeback film. simple story but awesome presentation - good watch for those are married. Also watched Aiyyaa. too slow, story has no meaning, rom-com yet hero-heroine has no chemistry but experiments on music is too good, Amit Trivedi did another Dev D with Aiyyaa. And both film excels in cinematography!

    i tried to connect using tata cdma omh ruim on a unlocked modem. it didn;t work! photon username password - internet/internet does not work! even many imported smartphone users on rimweb nt able to connect to net using tata cdma. i heard that tata cdma corporate users are asked to connect via tata zone for free internet access (BREW platform probably), but there is no apk file is found.

    Looking for a desktop upgrade, as my 1st machine can't play HD videos, otherwise very stable with WinXP. (Compaq presario runs on P4 processor, 640MB RAM, 40GB HDD ) Pricing is a factor, so looking for cheapest upgrade option. Need some suggestions. Also as the basic requirement is music and hd movie playback, internet, bit of word/photo processing and almost zero gaming - do you think I go for AMD for price cut ?

  21. If MTS buy Aircel, there is high chance that MTS will use Aircel's 1800 MHz spectrum for LTE-FDD, a technology more mature than LTE-TDD. LTE-TDD is the technology is deployed in India over 2300 MHz (band 40) band by BWA/4G players. LTE1800 has seen huge response from operators across globe, as GSA report says around 1/3rd of LTE networks are going live over 1800MHz band. Regarding MTS's dual SIM smartphones, it is all about in talks. Announced on CDG summit I am not sure when these phones will go launched.

  23. I am not wondered to see the delay Infotel is making. See Airtel has launched 4G in two cities for 5 months - subscriber base is 3000 around - which is not appreciable. I came to know that Airtel is busy to show off complete 4G coverage in Kolkata, that's why they launched in Kolkata very first. But in most places the BTS is cat-1 type - never to provide that 50Mbps speed. Even in Kolkata they stopped promoting 4G/LTE. Even at suburbans Airtel does not have fiber backhaul. So Infotel is more about learning from the mistakes from Airtel and at the same time creating OFC based backhaul. Infotel will never launch services with an incomplete plans and infrastructure.

  25. Huawei E303 HiLink version does not need software installation, you can manage settings over browser. Just like we do it for ADSL modem/Wireless router. Check at your local shops for Huawei E303 HiLink - price Rs 2800 or less do not buy if HiLink is not mentioned.
