Photon+ device now @1799! BSNL is stuck @ Rs 2299-2500 ...... BSNL Will drop the price when they sold off all devices of current tender!

Recently I visited TI shop to port in to Tdocomo frm TI. There i came to know Tata selling 2 types of OMH RUIM - one with no data services, and 2nd with EVDO activated i.e. Photon+ on mobile ! But you can not use this RUIM on your EVDO modem to access internet! This s**ks! on 3G one SIM gives your power to connect to internet via mobile, modem or watever device that has a USIM slot! CDMA is loosing to GSM!

RCOM is present in 500+ cities !! where man??? in West bengal they r present in only Kolkata & Howrah - both cities are separated by the river ganges! RCOM counts it 2!!! Similarly Photon+ is available in only Kolkata! and MTS has its EVDO presence in Kolkata, Howrah (counted 1), Asansol, Durgapur, Gangtok & Siliguri!

Just note MTNL is giving OMH RUIM

1st of all its kinda old news... however I am surprised to know Olive did nt bring it to India - RCOM, Tata & BSNL can offer it for their EVDO & 3G network! Instead Olive devices gone to Russia!

EV-DO from RCom at c00l rates???? RCOM already reduces its EVDO Rev A modem price..... it is now dropped to Rs 1599 Tata Photon replies with price drop to Rs 1799 for Tata Photon+ devices!

Now all metros - Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai got unlimited 3G data at Rs 700-750 from BSNL-MTNL with all India roaming! Hope real competition is coming soon from private players! Interestingly on Reliance, Tata Docomo & now with Airtel people experiencing 3G speed with 2G GPRS packs! I guess operators know this loophole of setting netwrk mode in UMTS/3G/HSPA but they are not restricting it, as these packs offer 2-8GB at around Rs 100-150 which don't give much pressure on their HSPA (minimum 7.2Mbps) netwrk and people recharging Rs 100 every month for GPRS! A slight increase in ARPU!

^^^^^ I am also facing similar same problem with ZTE Mblaze AC2766. RUIM is read via the modem but cant abl e to to register into the netwrk!!!

@digitalnirvana if LTE comes in end of 2011, what will b feat of 3G?? I guess with costly 3G tariff & few takers, private 3G players will go bankupt! As 4G is expected to be affordable from MDA!

Haryana is a small circle, you can't predict trends from a circle! MNP effect will vary from circle to circle even area to area depending upon network coverage. Of course operators will try to convince customers with similar/better offer, but at the end coverage, 3G and after-sale support will be key differentiator for MNP!

samsung is so reluctant to these entry level androids, my Galaxy 3 still does not get official update of 2.2 froyo! G5 can not be updated to 2.2 as it was said on gsmarena, thats offically u cant but check out XDA forum, there people are offering 2.2 update for G3 and probably G5 is also possble!

galaxy 5 has android 2.1 and no update !

frankly speaking these CDMA players have no transparency in their EVDO/1X on mobile offerings. It varies from circle to circle, shop to shop and one CCE to another CCE! They restrict users from teethering! Even you can not use your RUIM on data card MTS CC in Kolkata says they do not offer 'GPRS' - instead they forced me to go for MTS smartphones made by ZTE/Micromax/Fly on which you can get 'GPRS' - what the hell! CDMA players have to go a lot to introduce GSM-like offerings on data segment!

Still Reliance is better than Tata Docomo. Reliance proves its worth with better data plans and now with differential video call tariff!

Interestingly new BSNL SIMs have pre-activated GPRS! On OLD connections have a call to CC!

as we can see tata docomo n reliance 3g has few takers as the tariff is high! if LTE/BWA/4G/3.9G does not come affordable it will be fail! Data is the main source of revenue for operators in coming days!

2G means it will spoil our need for data! u cant use bsnl 3G data plans while EVDO tariff from mts/reliance/tata is too high!
