I use Calengoo. Though a paid apk but the best out there in my opinion....As fas as the calendar goes, I believe this is better than touchdown... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calengoo.android&feature=search_result
  3. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

I am currently using CM9 (though not on epic) but go sms delivery ack works perfects. I am sure u would have enabled delivery ack....is this the same with the stock sms apk also?
  4. That can be done otherwise also..my opinion.. For new contacts, we have sms right;) Whatsapp..just an additional resource instead of more commonly used ones.. (Dont Follow Your Shadow, Lead It!!) -Sent from my Fax Machine
  5. just a thought... why use whatsapp when gtalk, yahoo messenger, fb ,etc are available....I use IM+ pro..works like a charm...and most of my contacts use the same too...
  6. (Disclaimer: I have not modded / developed the script and I have no contribution to that either. I am use a user and thought to share) What is it? This is a flash-able zip file that installs an A2SD-EXT script. This is similar to DTAPPS2SD or any other script but much better. It stores apps and data on your SD-EXT partition and mounts the partition as /data. There are no downfalls to this script, such as the "running out of space" error when only half way used and no audio glitches that can be found with Darktremor's script. (More info on OP linked below.) How to get it running? Simple; just flash the zip in recovery. You must have an EXT partition already created on your SD card, obviously. No need to enter any commands in Terminal as it already runs by itself upon boot. I tested and it works with CM7, MIUI, and ICS roms. Been using it for a while with NO problems. Download? Original Thread?! Glad you asked. Here is both: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1310309 Download link:http://forum.xda-dev...33&d=1319096938
  7. Android Updates For Your Phone

Samsung Galaxy Ace: One of the most stable ROM that I have used after stocklite 6.0... Based on CM7 - APOCALYPSE-FINAL [09.07.12]. Ownload: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700749
  8. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

For data theft: I use droidwall which is a firewall and I can restrict apps from using the internet. In addition to this, I also use autostarts where I can disable the startup/autorun for all apps. My ROM is CM7 based and it also has the function for permission manangement. For physical theft: I do not use anything since I do not put any sensitive info on my cell...u never know which app is transmitting which data. The only sensitive info I have is my email accounts ids and access which can be changed on a phone lost. (Edit: Lol...yeah the phone...I normally do not leave it anywhere. So the risk is low. A app constantly running in the background, tracking my location and consuming battery is something I wont like..Anyway, I might be wrong here.
  9. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

with hike, all of my contacts are in DND....lol... uninstalled...
  10. Sounds good... But my firewall blocks the cr**ked apps to access the internet...normally I do not let my account accessing apps to access internet unless they are paid.. anyways, currently K-9 works great for my google apps account and my exchange too... But wanted the tocuhdown as its always great...
  11. yeah DL...i have used that for the trial duration... but k-9 is also good... do u really think that in comparision to k-9, this is worth $19.99?
  12. Thats the best email app. I am using K-9 currently and wanted to switch over... But not at the cost/risk of $19.99
  13. Would this help me downloading from Amazon US? http://www.amazon.com/NitroDesk-Inc-Exchange-TouchDown-Key/dp/B004SHQXF2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1342333044&sr=8-2&keywords=android+email+apps+nitro I believe this is free for AT&T

  16. Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Price...yes! But truly speaking, does it cost more to add the sim slot? I dont think so... Just the premium that goes with it...there must be a market breaker....
  17. Android Full Wipe, The Correct Way.

I believe that the following might be better (just copied this suggestion from another place): switchoff then press only home button and power button 1. wipe data/factory reset.[imp] 2. wipe cache partition.[imp] 3. Go to mounts and storage and format these : a. system b. data c. cache d. sdext 4 go to advanced and then in there format : a. Dalvik cache b. Battery stats [not imp.]
  18. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

@kalpesh: sounds great...Since you have already tested, please advice whether the zip also includes data for the app? And when restored, does it reinstall the applications to the correct paths: I mean, the stock apk to the stock (integrated) and the others to SD card/internal as they were earlier? For backups, I currently use (this backups data too): Appologies for linking to another forum, but thats where it came from. http://forum.xdadevelopers.info/showthread.php?t=1531880 Apart from this, could someone please guide me for the following: I am currently using a ROM based on CM7 and firekernel. The sns.apk which used to work great for me earlier is not working with the new contact.apk. How can I switch to the original contact.apk again having CM7? (PS: I already tried coping the old apk to /system/app, changing permissions and reboot. However, after the reboot, the phone looses network (since the dialer must be linked to the new apk)). I hope I am successful in putting forward my problem in the right words Please guide. Thanks.
  19. Installing The Android Apps Directly On SD Card?

    This could be better: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
  20. RIMweb Mobile Application

Hey, I have been using the XDA application for its forum for some time now.. It would be a great idea, specially with the techos on our forum, to build up a "Windows Mobile" and "Android" application for our forum with an additional home screen tab to show for new posts.. Cheers!
  21. Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II

The best calendar application- Calengoo (yes, I paid though) The best flight tracker application- Flighttrack (yes, I paid) Best firewall- Droidwall (freeware, I do not use any antivirus) One more thing, Google finance works for the Indian stocks now and the apk is good with the great widget support.
  22. @KanagaDeepan...thanks...I tried the way provided by rahulsid in post #42 and was successful in gettig the network recognised in my android. However, the problem is that I was not able to make the internet start even after the wifi network was connected on my android. I was looking for a way out and had posted the screen preview for better understanding. @mailgujarat & @st_7, I tried connectify and got the same problem..was not able to access internet though the hotspot was connected. However, I feel rather than a third party app, the way suggested in post #42 is far better.... Thanks...

  24. ADAG Blames Rumours as Stocks Tank

http://www.asianage.com/india/reliance-gets-sc-rap-over-amar-phone-tap-007 New Delhi, Feb. 11: The Amar Singh phone tapping case took a new turn on Friday, with the Supreme Court taking serious view of the Reliance Communications putting his phone on surveillance on a forged letter of the Delhi home secretary, and asked the Centre why the licence of the service provider was not cancelled for such a casual approach. Pointing out at least eight grammatical and spelling mistakes in the letter bearing the date of November 9, 2005, and forged signature of the then Delhi government home secretary, Mr Ramesh Narayanswamy, a bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and A.K. Ganguly, told the Solicitor General, Mr Gopal Subramaniam, that no service provider could be allowed to get away with such a lapse as it would put the freedom of an individual in “jeopardy”. “Any service provider will not act on this kind of communication, it is gross negligence. It either has been done deliberately or they are incompetent enough to act on an order full of mistakes. Why did you not cancel its (Reliance) licence? You should have cancelled the licence per se on such an order full of mistakes coming from the home secretary, who is a high ranking IAS officer,” the court told the Solicitor General. The apex court pointed out that when several people in the country were raising serious questions on phone tapping, no service provider could be allowed to function in such a casual manner. “Tomorrow if the telephone of Chief of Army staff is given to some terrorist organisations and his conversation is transferred to some other country what will happen to this country? This way any body’s communication can be intercepted by a unscrupulous service provider,” the bench observed. While SG acknowledged that it was a “serious lapse” on the part of Reliance, the service provider’s lawyer will respond on February 14 to the apex court’s query. ------------------------------------------------------- My hard earned money...
