BES and BBM Services On Carrier Locked Blackberry CDMA Handset
ujjwalsarin posted a topic in BlackBerry
Gurus pl provide a clarity While a Carrier locked CDMA device can be made to work in India, if it is unlocked and the authentication parameters are uploaded in the target network(PRL etc); however only voice, SMS and wap will work in such scenario I have been given to understand that CDMA PIN for a carrier locked devices are not released in the"open list" by RIM, hence a cracked device cannot be used to access BB servers from outside the network to which the PIN was assigned ; and consequently cannot access BES,BIS and BBM Is the above understanding correct What is the solution for a single mode carrier locked device like a BB 9670 and for a world mode device like a BB 9350 -
MTS India Launches CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase-II Network - MBlaze Ultra with 9.8 Mbps speed
ujjwalsarin replied to alugobi's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
" China Telecom is one of the cellcos which have stated the intention of deploying CDMA EV-DO Rev B, which is carving out a role in supporting heavy duty data services in emerging markets, in the face of previous speculation that it would not hit commercial reality because of the accelerated rise of LTE. The CDMA Development Group (CDG) argues that there is still plenty of growth left in the technology, especially in emerging economies – where spectrum will not be available for LTE for years but there is a requirement for affordable data – and in bands geared to rural access, notably 450MHz, where CDMA is the only major technology. Four operators have launched commercial services using EV-DO Rev B – KDDI in Japan, in its 2.1GHz band; Smart Telecom of Indonesia and Pakistan Telecom in 1.9GHz; and 450MHz player ice.net/Net1, in both Sweden and Denmark. A further 10 carriers have made commitments to deploy Rev B, only one in a band above 1GHz (LG U+ in Korea, in 1.7GHz. China Telecom and Wana of Morocco will use the technology in 800MHz, and the other seven will all roll out in 450MHz. They are Cosmote and Romtelecom in Romania, G-Mobile Mongolia, MTS Ukraine, PTK Centertel in Poland, SkyLink in Russia and Zapp in Portugal. Its commitment to Rev B will only strengthen China Telecom’s powerful position in directing the CDMA agenda, which it assumed once Verizon Wireless turned to LTE in preference to the planned 4G upgrade for CDMA carriers, UMB – effectively signing the death warrant for that platform. Telecom then took the crown as most influential CDMA carrier when its 3G roll-out produced a big boost for the technology in 2008-10. Some vendors created products specifically for the cellco. In 2009, Qualcomm SVP Cristiano Amon said: “We think 3G in China could boost the CDMA2000 ecosystem ... We are moving forward with all of our R&D for China, specifically CDMA2000. We are introducing a new suite of products.” For instance, Qualcomm introduced multiband 450MHz/700MHz chips for the entry level CDMA series, which was previously available only in a single-band 800MHz implementation, on request from China Telecom." -
MTS India Launches CDMA EV-DO Rev.B Phase-II Network - MBlaze Ultra with 9.8 Mbps speed
ujjwalsarin replied to alugobi's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
A couple of points in this topic where I can add 1. MTS can launch REV B initally only in Rajasthan circle where they have 4 carriers available (1 carrier = 1.25 Mhz) In all other circles MTS only has 2.5Mhz start up spectrum hence REV B may not be possible unless we have intra circle roaming arrnagement like in GSM 2. Other CDMA Operators can offer REV B and scale up in more circles quickly 3. REV B has been tested but not really deployed commercially except in some countries (Pakistan, Indonesia, Japan etc) 4. There is a growing range of REV B handsets which are available. -
Looking great , but little slower than before..

MTS Internet Service On Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA
ujjwalsarin replied to avishekghosh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
The whole idea of "OMH" is that no settings need to be changed, The handset shoudl work seemlessly -pick teh username and passcode/auth parameters from the RUIM and connect. I am sure the issue is in the RUIM Card from service provisioning perspective. Can you check the RUIM card in another OMH"RUBY CERTIFIED" Handset like a Corby, F219, B559, etc ? -
I am initiating this topic to get RIM Gurus to put their though on RUIM V/S Non RUIM Handsets Once upon a time all CDMA handsets in INDIA were NON RUIM. Globally users are not against NON RUIM handsets, but in India, somehow there is a biased towards RUIM based handsets 1. Is Indian Customer biased towards RUIM based handset? 2. Is a concern of locking to an operator real ? 3. If Pt 1 is true, can this perception be changed ? 4. What will it take for the above to become a reality?
-
USIM and OMH standards are different as I am given to understand, so even if Verizon decides to roll out USIM, it will not be compatible with OMH platform?

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
ujjwalsarin replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Another line of thought Lets rewind and see why CDMA earlier was not successful in attracting high ARPU subs or for that matter why original 900 Mhz license holders continue to hold the best customers(high ARPU) The reason is "Customer Lag" - sheer laziness exhibited by a large number high ARPU customer base(both individuals and corporates. This is most exhibited in voice rather than data, where mobile number is not relevant(I'm discounting MNP here) ROUTE # 1 In the case RIL becomes a MVNO, OR, takes over a existing GSM or CDMA operator Target 1. Attract the high ARPU data customers - which will be driven through dongles, tablets and can have potentially good traction based on entry price etc 2. Attract high ARPU voice customers who potentially use data on their handset - which will have limited traction. Reason being a. Limited number of customers appreciate high speed on mobile(especially 4G) b. If entry barrier is -change operator + buy new high priced handset to enjoy high speed - will it get traction Hence customer lag might win here and we might see a very small niche enthusiast adopting RIL 4G ROUTE 2 RIL become a bulk seller of 4G data to both CDMA and GSM operators RIL will continue to attract high ARPU data customers and will ALSO DE-RISK the option to acquire high ARPU users of different carriers - who potentially can use 4G on their handsets Will existing carriers be interested in this deal(ROUTE 2) ? Yes - because by that time 3G will bleed them and they would not be willing to risk high capex in setting up a owned 4G network immediately We have already seen carriers resorting to intra circle roaming agreements to save on CAPEX and this will be a logical step forward Also because none of existing carriers(except AIRCEL) has a BWA license as of now, and with exception of BHARTI, I do not see others getting into it either
