Hi, Since I have damaged my old Nokia Reliance handset up to a non repairable level, and also have a GSM Airtel sim on Motorokr E6, I wanted to buy a Dual Sim Touch Screen Phone (not CoolPad at all) and I came across MAXX GC355 and MAXX GC1000 handsets that are GSM-CDMA and GSM-GSM compatible. Just want to know if MAXX is a reliable brand. Cost Wise GC355 claimed Rs. 5750 in a local shop. Before going ahead I wanted to know if anyone has used MAXX brand, or any other suggestions for a Dual Sim Brand? No I dont want to go for those provided by Reliance, since they lock and disable many features of a good phone and also raise the cost as compared to local market. Also Reliance based handsets fail in performance as time passes. Bye Regards

After long search I finally bought Maxx GC355 CDMA-GSM/GSM-GSM handset for Rs. 5750 from my local shop, when all other shop keepers said "It is unavailable" and offered non touch screen phones at that cost. It supports both CDMA-GSM as well as GSM-GSM mode along with Touch screen support. I still have to use this phone to be able to write a detailed review. Since I bought it last night, these are all that I could come up with. Pros: 1. Touch Screen that serves the same purpose for which we use mouse on a PC. (After using touch screen phone for more than 2 years, i feel uncomfortable with touch disabled screen) 2. Upto 4GB extended memory module support 3. Support for Bluetooth Handsfree 4. Support for GPRS/JAVA/WAP 5. Flight mode available 6. Text Input is through onscreen keyboard as well as physical key pad 7. Both CDMA and GSM can share numbers from both the Sims for dialing, so no need of number duplication for both modes 8. Music is loud enough on both Speaker phone as well as on handsfree 9. Additional features like World Time, Theft Protection, Melody Composer (Ringtone maker), Call cheater (dont know exact use of this) 10. Camera can be used as Web Cam Cons: 1. No shortcut for locking screen manually. There's only auto lock option 2. Have to pass through lots of menus to browse files 3. No direct option for "Set as Ringtone / Wallpaper". Have to go through many process for setting custom ringtone 4. Camera is only 1.3 MP, also quality is low 5. No seperate headphone jack, Charger and headphone share common connectors 6. No Sync software for this model, can be however used for file transfers as pen drive Still need to know much about this piece... but for this small price, I think its better than Chinese handset, as it comes with warranty, IMEI, as well service centers

GC1000 is an option, however I am looking towards GC355 http://www.maxxmobile.in/Maxx/Products3.aspx?idProduct=42 as GC1000 http://www.maxxmobile.in/Maxx/Products2.aspx?idProduct=9 lacks JAVA compatibility as per MAXX customer care. I had been to one shop to buy GC355 but it was not sealed box and the cost was 5750. It was touch screen phone with WAP and JAVA enabled. Since it was not sealed box, I left the shop hoping to get it in other shop, but other shops say that the phone hasnt come to their shop yet... So am waiting for it or else I will have to settle down on GC1000

Hi Folks, There's a Site called as Free-4-Mobile (http://www.free-4-mobile.com ) which contains lots of free ringtones and resources for Cell Phones. The site can be surfed through the cell by http://www.free-4-mobile.com/wap I have been able to explore the site thru the web and even download ringtones and wallpapers (but only on PC, since I own Motorola C131 which doesnt have R-World support). But atleast one can try accessing the web, and get the ringtones, even if ringtones dont download through R-World, one can transfer thru the Datacable Bye Regards

Reliance Infocomm To Charge For 'R World' Services
dhayfule replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Communications
Hi Folks, That would be worthless, since free R-World was an attraction to the customers, however customers arent allowed to make full use of WAP in RWorld like other Service Providers, I mean RWorld doesnt allow to download free ringtones and other stuff from wap sites like other service providers allow to. Niether do we have option to share ringtones and other stuff. Who would pay for inconviniences?!!! Bye Regards -
Hi Folks, Just got a detailed explaination about Motorola V730 Color handset http://www.motorola.com.cn/about/teletalk/2002/10/e1014.asp Here goes the text: From short messaging to e-mail, and from e-maps to wireless securities, your mobile phone in becoming increasingly versatile. Motorola's latest model CDMA V730 is such as cell phone, which has a color display, a fashionable shape, and more importantly, a unique function of Karaoke. The newly-debuted V730 is aimed at giving customers more fun in their daily life. You'll be surprised to find that such a small phone can also show, vividly, the charm of Karaoke. With its 16-chord music, a strong rhythm, a large color screen, changing pictures and song words, it gives you a strong sense of KTV. In addition to two embedded songs, you can also download popular songs from preset websites. Exciting and specific functions need a strong technological support, and V730 fully reflects Motorola's leading position in the field of CDMA. As the first K-Java-enabled CDMA handset in China, V730 can display 65536 colors and allows its users to download Karaoke songs. V730 can be termed as a spotless CDMA masterpiece. With its fashionable shape, double-display design and interesting wallpaper, the cell phone can store as many as 200 phone numbers, five preset email addresses and self-recorded rings, identify incoming calls by ring tones and cartoon icons, and give people endless joy and fun. "As another classical product in the CDMA market, V730 can be described as a perfect combination of Motorola's advanced technology, original conception of design and its fully understanding of the needs of consumers. It reflects Motorola's promise to make people's life simpler, smarter and full of fun," said Mr. Brian Lu, VP and GM of Motorola PCS China. Going through the above text its clear that it's readily available in China. But will Reliance allow the customers to completely use all the features of this handset, as we all know that RIM restricts the usage of RWORLD, and this phone has ability beyond that. Bye Regards
-
Hi, But what will be the Cost??? I mean beyond 10K or within it? Also they havent provided much details like that of others. Do you have any such details. Also will it be worth purchasing, since Motorola C131 lack features apart from Multimedia and JAVA. Bye Regards

Illegal ILD Traffic - Infocomm penalty case
dhayfule replied to city02's topic in Reliance Communications
Hi Everybody, I don’t know how many of you have come across this bug. Recently I received a call from California (I am damn sure that it was from California!!!), but for my greatest shock I found that the number displayed on the screen belonged to a Reliance Customer located in the same city where I am. On calling RIM Help desk I was told that SOMETIMES the SO CALLED NETWORK DEVICES don’t identify International Calls and forward a random local number. Now that’s where the point of concern lies. In case if I receive an international emergency call from my relative located abroad, for whom I don’t have the number, how can I be aware of the incoming Calling Number for my future correspondence? Apart from that if a business man in Mumbai (that’s where I am located) receives an extortion call from an International Telecom Network, and the number Flashed belongs to me, then one can understand how RIM Network Can Play a role in sending an Innocent Behind the Bars. Now shall we still call it as RELIANCE, though we cant RELY on it??? Bye Regards -
R u Sure thats the correct mail id???
-
Yeah thats the fact. R-World doesnt allow third party downloads for ringtones and wall papers. In fact I know a site called as www.free-4-mobile.com that has loads of free stuff to download. Thats not just the limitation it has. They have even stopped providing Y! Messenger service from R-World.
