  2. Hello, I have been trying to contact MTS CC as I needed to activate international roaming on my bro's MTS mumbai no, but no responses... So I came to the forum as my final resort, hoping for a quick response. Actually my brother forgot to activate international roaming on his prepaid GSM sim (not CDMA, was not sure where to post ) while leaving for his offical 2 month tour to mediterranean and european countries. So nw I need to activate international roaming on his behalf. If there is a way to activate international roaming after leaving the country , then please let me know asap, so that this issue can be resolved. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks !!!

    It doesn't have a SD-card slot.. maximum u can get is 16gb , but 249$ price tag is quite nominal for such beefy h/w and latest s/w. I'd go for it. Its the first tablet that I'm tempted to buy.

Kudos for such a nice and comprehensive rundown of the pros and cons... after checking out your post , I also checked out Phonearena's review and they also concede that its best among the one series lots...So I have been thinking of to buy one from the US and revert back to RCDMA However, only one gripe that I had with OEM sprint handsets using RCDMA service (I have used Epic 4g slider and Motorola photon 4g earlier) is thier unstable signal strength on 3g which tends to drop to nil anytime even in a good network area. I just wanted to know if the same happens with this one too ? After the recently announced RCDMA evdo plans for prepaid ,I am quite compelled to give RCDMA a try again .. Thanks for bring such an awesome handset to my attention !!!

  14. Finally Got my phone today , on 11th day from the day I purchased it from Ebay US. Most of the time was taken by custom clearance in Mumbai (as expected) i.e about 4 days (including sunday) and bugger bluedart guys took more than 2 days to deliver it to me from Mumbai to Pune. So, I had to pay 973rs for shipping + custom fee to PPOworld (now PPObox). But the worse thing that happened is Octroi. I was charged 624rs for octroi and it is the first time, I have been charged octroi on anything. I think it might be due to value of shipment mentioned in $. So all in all , I spent around 17k for AT&T galaxy s2 , although there are minor signs of usage on the phone, I'm loving the swiftness and no-lag goodness of Galaxy s2. So my opinion for the PPObox (or ppoworld) service would be positive with some conservations as it took a little longer that what I expected to deliver and Customer care service is really bad (not a surprise there!)
  15. I do agree with Maulik here that for present times - quad cores doesn't make much of a difference. But if we compare first gen single core smartphones to the current gen dual cores , it'd not be fair to say that we don't see any noticeable difference in performance. Well if you are just using ur phone for regular mobile browsing , making calls and messaging , then it doen't matter , but if you play latest Gameloft 3D games , watch HD video's alot or heavy web browsing with flash content or do a lot of multitasking , which is what an smartphone is essentially made for, you would definately feel a noticeable difference. So as Maulik mentioned, in due time when market will be crowded with quad cores , there will be better games , better apps that can make use of it and our dual cores will lag behind. Nevertheless, i also second the point raised by Dipesh Bhai that instead of going with heavy duty, power hungry hardware mods, smartphone manfacturers should focus more on S/W and H/W intergration, which always give better results. I really adore Nokia and there symbian software base for this and one of the perfect examples in android lineup is definately SGS2's Exynos with Touchwiz integration.

I have just payed for it and the seller will ship it to NY's PPO office tomorrow morning. I hope everyting goes well as I get my shipment without issues as soon as possible. Waiting impatiently for my GS2 KUDOS to you all !!!
  18. Thanks for the advice hitesh. I have made an account in PPOWORLD and planning to purchase a handset from US by tomorrow. I have two question regarding ppo's services: 1. they have a cost calculator utility which asks for value and weight of the package with its type and accordingly calculates- 1. Estm Shipping cost and 2. Estm custom fee and taxes. Does this mean that it includes the custom fee in it and I don;t have to pay any further custom fee ? 2. How much time it takes for them to deliver the product from their NY office. Thanks again.

Sir , I do agree that USPS international shipment is around 30-40$ to india , but if you consider the fee to register a shopandship account (is 45$ one time) and for a person like me who is just interested in using this service very rarely for personal use (only one time in this case) then USPS would be a better option. Don't you think ?

    I can also vouch for what Iqbal bhai is saying. I have been using my mopho for GSM (using vodafone 3g) for last 15 days and I live within 1 km from pune airport. In my area cell reception is major issue due to jammers installed all over the place and also govt doesn't allow cell towers within certain kms to the airport for security reason. So I compared the signal strength of vodafone with two phones and found that photon signal reception and call quality is far superior than others. So @Kae if you are facing issues with GSM with ur mopho thats gotta be due to some issues with ur particular piece. I am not certain if mopho is faster that galaxy s2 or other high end dual cores out there , but its quite snappy and I'm more than happy with its performance for day-2-day usage.
  23. Hi All ! Actually I stumbled upon this interesting topic for thr first time now and was not even aware that there is any way for us to get products directly from US. My question is a little different though. I have a verified paypal acc with one of my bank account credit card attaced to it. If i purchase an item from ebay US which provides international shipping via USPS, how exaclty the custom process works in this case. Lets say if I purchase a handset worth 300-350$, what would be the custom charge that could be applied to this and if there is any way to work around this? Any quick help and guidance is highly appreciated as I have found a good deal on ebay US. Thinking about going for it. Thanks in advance !!
  24. Hey Guys !!! I don't know if its ok to ask such buying dilemma q's here . but I needed to so some quick and needed advice from experts so here it goes. I have been fishing from last couple of days to get a i9100 in mint condition fro GSM use. Unfortunately I lost some sweet deals in the way, but at this time I've 3 deals that I'm considering. 1. I have a dealer selling i9100 model in Rs 22500/- with 6 months dealer warranty in mint condition with all accessories + back panel cover 2. There is another deal from ebay which is for i9100G for Rs 21500/-, in which I have 2 yrs liquid/physical damage warranty from Samsung pan-india till Dec 2013. All accesories included here too. 3. I have a deal for iphone 4 -32 gb with NEO SGP hybrid case , all original accessories , 2-3 months used and Gevey unlocked. This one is also for 21500/- . I have never used an iPhone, so was itching to use one. Not sure if it will sooth me though. I have till midnight tomorrow to finalise any one of this deal as all three of these are from eBay and I have 10% off coupon whose time limit ends today. The prices I mentioned are after applying that discount.Please advice fast. If anyone of you have better offers, please let me know. Thanks
