joshm replied to joshm's topic in Samsung
well as CM7 uses a diff file system you need to change the file system with atlas pit all you have to do is flash EH03 odin tar along with atlas pit together in one go this will change your files ystem as well as flash the Eh03 GB . and pl as soon as you are done flashing Eh03 boot the phone and after that shut it down and flash the recovery that i have mentioned DONT USE THE CURRENT recovery that you have atm with CM7 ( its specific to CM7 system only ) this is what you have to do ATLAS PIT 2.2 : http://www.mediafire.com/?26xbh796jmwvwqb OR http://www.multiupload.com/0H6IJQ27QM[/CODE] -

EH03 SUPERCLEAN SCREENS optional AOSP LOCK -
well one thing and this i am telling by experience of having practicall 80% Maruti suzukis in my family, that after around 2 years or so the cars start to produce all sorts of noises , i mean you ll see that the rattles and sounds and noises they start to come from all sorts of places in the car, no two ways about the fact that the overall build quality has been below average in all its variants the biggest PLUS is their service network , i mean its very good , i know with my experience as well as through the guyz who are working in it. the thing that we in our family believe is Hyudai has better product and maruti has better after sales. There is no denying that no one can match toyota in this industry its top notch may be initially they are doing all sorts of things to get a foothold but believe me once they are able to get a ground they have the product quality to give the stiffest competition to all.

well guyz i did many calculations before buying a new car , and TBH however cheap and environment friendly , i never considered CNG its a general idea that CNG vehicle gives no driving pleasure at all ( pickup goes down like anything ), every now and then there is some issue, resale value of the vehicle goes down the drain. the life of the vehicle shortens a lot, But if you are hell bent on getting CNG kit installed then get it done from the maker itself, it will give you warranty along with the most advanced vehicle friendly kit. If anyone really wants to save money then its time to switch to diesel engine, TBH i would have gone for the diesel as well but my daily commute + my preference for an utterly quiet car with good pickup forced me to go for a petrol engine powered RITZ and i am happy with it. and if one is interested then buy the diesel car now as the govt is planning to levy more taxes on diesel cars soon.

a question here : I find that the tachometer is indeed a good addition, is it possible to get the genuine tacho fitted from maruti itself in my Lxi Ritz , its not that i am a new driver or something but i believe with new K series engines its better to operate acc to RPM. also there are some vibrations while the car is moving which u can feel in the clutch, brake and gas paddles and on the floor ( while the car is idle there are no such vibrations ) , is this a normal with ritz ? i went to mssd yday about this and they showed me another ritz vxi which was having more such vibrations , they say its a bit normal for the k series engine but still we ll chk em during your first service .( which is yet to be done )
-
@ csmart : Thanks a lot mate, i am enjoying my RITZ just the other day went to have dinner outside of delhi in one of those famous dhabas along the highway and just loved the ride as i am currently in the RUNIN period so couldnt press ver 60 but even then the ride was just great and my good wishes for your SWIFT purchase dear friend !!! new swift is just great , although i havent test driven the diesel version, i tried the ZXI variant and it was pure cream ( did i tell you all this before i guess i did ) @ city02 : i havent heard anything about nano at big bazaar, would update if i ll come across any such thing.

Well I agree with Rajan dear !!! I would like to request MODS or ADMIN to please change the title of the thread BUYING A NEW CAR ?? Lets discuss it here !! so that we can have a topic and if members like then the staff can look towards a new section on automobiles too. @ vikasmahajanz i was also thinking the same thanks for the advise. regards
-
well i guess it ll be a great option , this new automobile section of RIM web LOL i have been waiting for my account to be activated since last 10 days at Team-BHP anyways , i have driven like 200 odd KMs , and the experience has been just outstanding , such a comfortable ride , everything is just awesome with the RITZ as i am way too sensitive towards noise ( which incidently played a major role apart from cost factor ) thats why i chose the PETROL variant will get automatic central locking done from MSSD in a day or two the only drawback that i can think of is small REAR glass which doesnt give much field of vision thru the mirror. regards MODS PL LOCK IT , i am done THANKS TO ALL again god bless
-
k bought the RITZ LXI silky silver today after doing eniough calculations the car is a real treat to drive really got awesome price ) just a shade below wagon R vxi ;P Thanks a bunch to all for chipping in with comments , observations and suggestions. regards @ MODS : Pl lock it
-
well the price of Ritz LXi after discount and all ( the best price that i squeezed ) is 426888 and the LDI costs exactly 540165 so you can see that its around 1L13 thousand and thats huge . As DK just said the cost recovery ( after taking into consideration the maintenance , extra initial payment , ( loan interest if any ) , the cost gets even only after 4 years PROVIDED your monthly run is around 1200 or 1300KM . also i test drove the LDI variant i think it was vdi : and there was way too much noise and the pickup wasnt good ( may be the reason was that it had alreday done 21k km ) then the executive showed me a brand new LXI , it was smooth no noise whatsoever and characteristic swift like awesome pickup ( i am sure all u know that RITZ and swift petrol until the launch of new swift were running on same engine ) so ULTIMATELY i have decided to go for LXI , ( although somewhere i still feel i should choose something more pocket friendly car ) as u cant get everything :P i think if later i ll feel that its beginning to be a costly affair i ll get it fitted with a company CNG kit. what say folks ????
-
alright i am trying to make up my mind between RITZ LXI and RITZ LDI please post your views about it on every aspect 1.. overall financial implications if the car is driven 1300 km per month for 5 years 2.. driving pleasure 3.. maintenance 4.. noise and things , i mean suggest me if its actually worth to shell out 1L14K more for the LDI . regards

Thanks a bunch friends for chipping in with inputs really as and when i threw WAGON R out , i am in total confusion even now , with the fule prices rising , i think i got two things A... get a Ritz LXI or VXI and get CNG kit retrofitted from some dealer for 45k pros : we know , a better car than WAGON freakin R and around 2.5 to 3k expenses as compared to petrol which is 6k+ cons : 1.. engine life will come down drastically 2... the pleasure of driving a powerful 1200cc car will be ruined, u all will agree that cng means an effective 1050 or atmost 1100 cc engine response only 3.. the ques are endless for cng i mean minimum 35-40 to 60m anytime 4.. resale value decreases as compared to similar counterpart in petrol ( not that i am concerned but it is a factor ) B... get a ritz LDi or VDI (its outta budget , but lets take this as an option ) or may be Swift new ldi ( but i cant wait for that long and the budget is too too much ) pros : reduced monthly KHARCHA , than Petrol ( i guess around 3.5k) around same power ( i may be wrong ) as petrol around same maintenance as petrol variant driving pleasure as petrol Cons : expensive , expensive , expensive the base ritz ldiis 1L20k expensive than base lxi of ritz and 80k more than vxi of ritz if i ll spend 540000 on a RITZ LDI then why not swift for 20k more ( new tech better looks , same comfort ) - but expensive expensive expensive the resale value of diesel variants are actually lesser than petrol ones what do u guyz think am i right about CNG ???? Have Diesel engines actually come of age and are similar to petrol ones apart from consuming a cheaper fuel. Do u guyz also agree that if i should spend more than 5L on ritz then it will be better to get a swift instead ??? i was to get the car today , whichever it would have been , but my dilemma continues , one more thing please please post your opinions about the actualy delhi mileage of ritz petrol and ritz diesel with 100% ac use.
-
@dkaile : thanks mate, and i know a swift or ritz in diesel could suffice but then swift is way beyond, the vdi costs 612000, not practical really atm.
-
Thanks AMIT and RAJAN dear !!! @ Amit : Ritz is good no doubt but what about the actual user feedback about its mileage ??? and i10 well i use it as my friend has it and we always use each others cars , ( its good great pickup but i feel ritz is more roomy and runs way smoother and got better control ) @ Rajan : : yes beat is good , but my cousin got the petrol variant and he says it makes a lot of noise and personally i feel it looks more like casual boyish :P:P hatchback , am interested in something more subtle which suits my profession and is taller and somehow i dont prefer the looks ( man looks like i have become too picky and too inclined towards maruti ) would also like to ask how is the mileage of RITZ and what your known toz say about it . EDIT : missed Vikas Ji Thanks dear i would love to get the diesel variant and i wont prefer anything less than VDI , but then i cant stretch my pocket till there , it costs 578695 ( no discount damn u maruti ). got any words about the VXI variant, howz the mileage and what about fittment of CNG later ?? )

why would u use 3g hotspot feature , instead connect the phone with lappy via usb cable and turn on the tethering option in network, it ll install itself and u ll be able to use the data connection of ur phone on ur pc.

yes of course , people who are already on stock ED05 and have flashed the red recovery and the su package can download the comm rom 2 in step 2 ( lol i made 2 step 2 s use the second one ) and follow from 5th step onwards . If you can backup your data and apps using mybackupRoot then its always a great idea to start from scratch by total format using ed05 odin stock and starting from there. one more thing , the last update of comm rom was a patch 2.1 , but i didnt find it very interesting , so i recommend 2.0 version only. for all who are planning to use a tweaked or custom kernel , i would suggest them not to deviate from stock ed05 as of now , as barring one geewiz and a PW kernel none of the others are from ed05 stock as base, you never know which of them will bring back the MISSED CALLS MONSTER. I for one am happy with the stock radio and kernel . if i can be of use then feel free to drop a pm or better would be to post your query here

guys seriously , if you want to have kickass battery backup and and snappy, i mean snappy as hell, interface then do this ( btw i am using it atm and am very very happy coz i am not missing no calls and the setupis very fast and doesnt have any issues whatso ever ) 1.. ODIN ed05 tar ( nothing else , just ed05 tar file ) - This is the .tar file here . http://www.multiupload.com/OAQ3F68XPK flash with ODIN in PDA section Before flashing pl confirm that the MD5 is same as : 75FF53ADA8278A10149CEFF756D7A42D ( this will wipe your data , contacts and everything , but i guess you folks know this ) 2.. boot up completely 2.. download and store on your SD card The community rom version 2.0 from this link http://www.multiupload.com/EZ9RSD9N4L here is the main thread for this ROM here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108991 3..shutdown the phone 4.. odin this recovery ( the same way you odined the Ed05 stock ) http://www.mediafire...711hl7bsxc4wr15 5.. dont boot , press vol up + vol down + power button and you ll go straight to red recovery ( if the phone boots into the android system then you may have to flash the recovery again ) 6.. format data > cache > and dalvik then from the options choose install zip from sd card and give it the path to the comm rom 2 flash it / install it or whatever you call that. 7.. once done exit recovery and restart the phone 8.. the phone will take like 3 to 5 min to boot one small messup that you ll have is the comm rom 2.0 link that i have posted aint got no kernel ( as we want to use the STOCK ED05 kernel ) also the com rom doesnt have boot animation files as well so while booting up you wont see the galaxy S logo or the verizon logo , it ll be blank , but i guess thats not much . once booted , have a rocking time with the awesomest and snappiest rom ever. ABOUT MIUI , well it certainly looks eye candy , but it was sluggish , and i faced quite many force closes on it , so wouldnt recommend it and personally i love the touchwiz interface . DISCLAIMER : Me aka joshm and / or RIMWEB arent responssible if the above procedure makes your phone explode on your face :P , or there emerge some legs and other stuff to it and it runs or flies away , or may be goes dead. YOU HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENTLY WARNED

ANOTHER INPUT FROM ME : Right i guess we all must be aware that far too many developers for the fassy ( at XDA ) have jumped ship now there are not many left who ll be doing some development on the latest ED05 release. there are only two pretty straight forward releases ( no offence to the folks who did em ) based off of ED05. what i wanted to tell all fassy users was if you know how to flash kernel and radios seperately over a ROM then you can practically use any previous ED01 based ROM with ED05 Radio and kernel and have a blast , i mean you ll not face and missed call issues or stuff like that. i have tried it and it works like a charm , atm i am using the COM ROM 2.0 with ED05 radio and kernel. just thought of updating you guyz for the sake of having more variety. regards

Will Samsung Galaxy I500 Get Official Froyo (2.2) Or Gingerbread (2.3) Update?
joshm replied to mroy's topic in Samsung
NO NO NO NO , dont even think about it mate , This is one of the buggiest release till date , far too mny bugs , force closes very very frequently and on top of it , it kills YES generally PERMANENTLY kills your CD sard, its been totally abandoned at XDA as well, only CM7 gingerbread builds are being used but then they use a diff file system hence makes it diff to flash touchwiz or aosp stuff on them . Be Content with ED05 coz believe me i have triued almost all and this is a class release , this ED05 is , -
Ok looks like i missed a lot here : a few inputs from me 1.. the process that has been posted at XDA by pentafive ( the guy who posted the ED05 Leak in the first place ) will certainly mess our settings , SO DONT FOLLOW THE XDA METHOD PLEASE all you guyz need to do is just use the ED05 TAR file that i have uploaded and posted here ( a few posts above ) and flash it with ODIN through the PDA section , thats it you dont need anything else whatsoever 2.. the folks who are stuck at the language screen , well i have been there myself , all you need to do ( AS WAS ADVISED BY THE WIZ HETAL DP ) just open cdma workshop attach your phone and enter and save your MDN in the NAM settings under Dir_Number , thats it. Also for proper ROOTING use the CWM version that i have uploaded as thye newer version pose some issues.
