India Will Not Use A Uniform Technology For Rolling Out 4G Services: It was till now thought that One LTE phone, that is specifically made for Indian market, will work any LTE network provider in India, as till now that it is percieved that all the cariers will use TDD-LTE, the technology that fast expanding as the most favourable network across Asia and even in US Sprint is building TDD-LTE network on its(Clearwire's) 2300 Mhz spectrum, for 4G services roll out. But here is the news coming out which suggests that it won't be the case. Instead either you will need to buy a phone that supports both technologies(TDD & FDD LTE) or need to check out with your network carier in your circle(state) which technology they are using before deciding to buy a smartphone to be used on their network. Ofcourse, this is all to be done when we get the LTE networks lit up across country starting in 2014. Videocon, one of the 4G spectrum holder, is being reported to be planning to rollout its 4G services starting in a year or so from now on FDD-LTE technology. Apparantly, Videocon has 5Mhz of spectrum in 1800 Mhz range across all the following circles Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh East and West & Nokia Siemens to be the most likely vendor for Videocon's 4G roll out(they've already providing 2G infrastructure for Videocon). Another new titbit is that, all the 285 Mhz frequency in 1800Mhz range that freed up after the cancellations of 2G licenses of various operators in various circles is soon to be put up for sale once again(earlier government failed to attract buyers). And news is that many big operators like Vodafone & Idea are looking to expand their spectrum possession so that they can roll out 4G services in the circles they didn't win in the first 4G/BWA spectrum auction. Note: Government has already announced it will provide unified license, meaning any spectrum bought for any particular service(2G, 3G or anything) can be used to provide any other service. This is why Reliance Jio Infocomm is now applying for voice services also, that are to be provided on the spectrum they've earlier bought for 4G data services, under this newly announced 'Unified Licesnse'. And the government is also reported to be lowering the auction price further. And the reports suggest that whoever wins this spectrum in 1800Mhz range will resort to FDD-LTE technology as according to some studies most operators across the world with spectrum in 1800Mhz range have opted for FDD-LTE technology. So more FDD-LTE networks are expected to be lit out in our country. But now a days TDD-LTE is percieved to be better technology for rolling out 4G services especially for the reason that it uses single channel for both Upward/downward link and also more suitable for device-to-device communications, which is a main feature of future 4G systems. Following are the four important reasons for why TDD-LTE is favoured over FDD for 4G roll out: 1) It enables dynamic allocation of DL and UL resources to efficiently support asymmetric DL/UL traffic (adaptation of DL:UL ratio to DL/UL traffic). 2) It ensures channel reciprocity for better support of link adaptation; MIMO and other closed-loop advanced antenna techniques such as transmit beam-forming. 3) Unlike FDD, which requires a pair of channels, TDD only requires a single channel for both downlink and uplink providing greater flexibility for adaptation to varied global spectrum allocations. 4) Transceiver designs for TDD implementations are less complex and therefore less expensive (restrictions in the number of DL/UL switching points). If you are interested to know what are the main differences between these two technologies and why the world is slowly moving towards adopting TDD-LTE technology, read this 10-page PDF of ASCOM. Note: TDD technology does have disadvantages compared to FDD, the main disadvantage is that FDD is considered to be more spectral efficiency(capable of using spectrum more efficiently) than TDD. At the end of day, as a normal user of any technology, you & me, would want it to be able to accessed by our devices seemlessly atleast in our country(just like 3G). But it won't be the case, I, as a South Indian may not be able to use 4G on my smartphone if I come to Bihar or UP, due to these technological differences in the way 4G rolled out in the concerned areas. I know technology may improve by the time we get 4G rolled out fully across India, infact myself have posted here in this forum that Samsung has already announced a new version of Samsung Galaxy S4, which is capable of switching between these two technologies seemlessly. But not every one can buy a Samsung Galaxy S4 or S5 or HTC One(or Two) or Sony Xperia Z(or A), whatever the high end phones that come at that time with this high end technology. And I certainly don't think this technology will be cheap by then that it will be offered in low cost smartphones from Micromax & like wise companies. We may have to resort to Data cards that support this seemless changing between two technologies but then again you have to carry another device like laptop, notebook or netbook to use them. Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware
st_7 replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Rajan bhai, looking for a USB Sound Card(my server system doesn't have builtin audio), after some research I've zeroed in on Steelseries Siberia USB sound card, reviews are good, any good deals for this it is being now sold by a new seller Trumpcard on Flipkart for Rs.1360/- it was cheaper(Rs.1200/-) on ebay til 4-5 days back but everyone is seem to be taking advantage of rupee depreciation even on old stock they've increased the price to Rs.1400/-. Want a line-in for chat purpose along with audio output, any other cheaper alternatives(no I don't want those 100 bucks usb devices which work only for couple of days, I've already used them). Secondly, looking for a midrange video(again for my server system) my highest budget is around 7k, there are few Radeon 7750 GDDR5 1GB cards, which were available for around Rs.7200/-(without coupons being applied) but really interested in 7770 if I can get it in Rs.7xxx/-. Not much into gaming(infact not at all expect NFS, which can be played even with onboard graphics of Intel boards right from 945 chipset) but the onboard graphics on my server system is just useless(some crappy 32MB graphics). Open to other suggestions too.- 6,376 replies

Hardware Purchase Suggestion Requests
st_7 replied to hiteshkkk1's topic in General Technical Discussion
Looking for a good tablet for an elder person: Requirements 3G(sim-slot), hdmi or mhl support & good brand(most probably international brands). After searching for a good hour, found only HCL Me Y3 or Y4 have the mini-hdmi ports, but user reviews are bad for both models. So, taken out hdmi(or mhl) support from requirements(although still need it but couldn't find a good tablet from an established brand). So, presently zeroed in on Asus Fonepad(after reading many user reviews) & need a good price for Asus Fonepad 1.6Ghz 32GB version(although I may recommend 8GB 1.2Ghz processor version for other person). If somebody has good suggestions, I'm open to it. I found many reviews saying Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 or 3 are having heat issues. -
To update you guys, I was told in an international forum about this 'Digital Roaming' thing even though everything is routed through my RUIM that, I quote "It is using the account attached to the SIM. You are seeing the roaming symbol because you are using a 3rd party SIM in a Sprint phone. You will not get any signal when not in Roaming mode because when you are in "no roaming mode" it is only looking for Sprint towers which don't exist where you are". I don't know how true it is, because I've not got my hands on any Sprint phone with SIM slot previously. So, looking for someone(experienced) to support or deny the above said theory. If that is indeed true then there should be a way to tell the phone(some tweaks) that it is not 'Roaming' when using RUIM.

ShopAndShip / PPO Box & other package forwarders
st_7 replied to caringlover's topic in General Technical Discussion
OK.. and what about the insaurance with ppobox ? Do one thing.. send a message to the seller informing what happened exactly.. from ur package id, I guess u might not have purchased it for more than 10 days back.. if the seller doesn't give any satisfactory answer.. open the dispute with ebay.. Also tomorrow morning call ppobox and tell them what happened.. ask them if they open the packages at there NY hub and see if the item is there before shipping them here. Also is the item again checked after they recieve it from mumbai customs.. if u opted for paying extra 2-3% with insaurance for the item, ask them for the refund. i guess its neither the ppobox mistake nor seller mistake the bluedart person stole the package because ppobox booked the package for 1.5kg and i have received the package weighing not more then 200gm Thats really s**ks, any way did you complained this to PPO BOX(that Blue Dart Guys may have stolen your item), did you insured this item?. And one more thing, it doesn't matter if you got the phone blacklisted in US, because phone will only be blacklisted in US and the guy who has stolen the phone can still use this phone here in India. -
would you mind sharing how you got there? Otherwise you can also make a new thread how you got it working without that roaming symbol, so that every other person with Sprint HTC one could benefit. Used Avatar ROM & this rom helped me to connect to 5909(Reliance New Connection verification team) & got back to stock again.
-
but calls & sms are being charged locally!!, why does it still need roaming? Even data is working too, pls check the screen shot
-
Update first post with details information..... await for some suggestions as I work on 'Digital Roaming' thing
-
Ok guys another update, I flashed AOSP based ROM, but this time when I dial 5909 to verify my details, it got connected to Reliance Customer Care & I verified my details!!!. I couldn't believe it so I asked the Reliance CC Executive 'What is my number?' and he recited my number(of this sim). And told me that my services(on this sim) will be activated within one hour. Out of the moons.

Motorola Moto X Is Finally Released Officially: After months & months of being rumoured & leaked(its been rumoured since 2012!), the Motorola Moto X smartphone is finally been announced by Motorola today. Although most of the specs have already been leaked days before this official announcement, there are always couple of things here & there to be known at the launch. Continue reading for the specs & few highlights of the phone. Highlights: 1) Motorola is released this phone with the concept to give the customer to custom design their phone(few aesthetics). For that customize Motorola will start an online tool(or website) called Moto Maker which features a step by step customization process for building a phone with the ability to customize Back, front, accent color, and signature. But all these customization options are AT&T exclusive for the time being. 2) Along with the colour options, Motorola will also make four wood options(the back of the phone would be Wood!!), teak, bamboo, rosewood, and ebony at a later time as Motorola is still in testing & finalising the wood. 3) Motorola is using an in-house customized 'Computing System' inside this phone and Motorola names it as 'X8'. This in nothing but a combination of Qualcomm SoC(Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2 Krait 300 processors & four cores GPU, Adreno 320), a Natural Language Processor(for the always on Google Now features) and a Contextual Processor (for 'Active Display' & gesture enabled quick capture camera). 4) Although the display is 720p, Motorola for the first time using a new unique glass-plastic fusion(glass is fused into the plastic at the edge!! and rounds off nicely). The display is a SAMOLED with RGB(Sub-Pixel) arrangement instead of regular RGB stripe. 5) Its the first non-apple device(read Iphone 5) to use Nano-SIM(4FF) format. 6) Moto X has intelligently driven speakerphone, meaning some algorithms are used to monitor the tempeartures of speaker to generate a loud sound as possible without damaging the speaker. 7) Motorola using Ominvision OV10820 camer unit at back which is 10.5 MP. The speciality of this camera is that it uses RGBC(Red/Green/Blue/Clear) colour filter to produce exceptional low light & clear pictures. This is the first time this technology is being used in a smartphone. The sensor captures RAW images using a sensitive RGBC (red / green / blue / clear) color filter, and a companion chip automatically converts the resulting shots into the Bayer format that most imaging processors expect. The result is a high-performance camera that slots inside the Moto X without requiring any special effort. The sensor is a 1/2.6" size with 1.4µm pixels. 8) Moto X has an always on 'Google Now' feature, with which you can wake the phone by just saying 'Ok Google Now' even if it is in a deep sleep state. For this alone(along with language interpretation purposes) Motorola incorporate a special processor called 'Natural Laguage Processing' core. 9) The Contextual Processor is used to support 'Quick Capture', which is the quick enter camera gesture. Flick your wrist by holding the Moto X to enable Motorola’s camera UI of the Moto X. 10) The Contextual Processor is also being used to support 'Active Display' feature, which enables to view the last few(latest) notifications on the lock screen and gives the ability to dive into the app that the notifications come from(like new mail from gmail app) by swipping(drag) up the notification. Dragging(swipping) the notifications to left or right clears them. Spec Sheet: SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960Pro) 1.7 GHz Motorola X8 System (SoC+NLP Processor+Contextual Processor) Display: 4.7-inch AMOLED (RGB) 1280x720 RAM: 2GB LPDDR2 WiFi: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, BT 4.0 Storage: 16 GB standard, 32 GB online, 2 years 50 GB Google Drive I/O: McroUSB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone, NFC, Miracast OS: Android 4.2.2 Battery: 2200 mAh, 3.8V, 8.36 Whr Size/Mass: 65.3 x 129.3 x 5.6-10.4 mm, 130 grams Camera: 10 MP Clear Pixel (RGBC) with 1.4µm pixels Rear Facing & 2 MP 1080p Front Facing Pics: Source: Anandtech.com & Engadget.com -

Samsung Announces World's First Dual Mode LTE(FDD/TDD) Phone With Seamless Switching: Finally, the technology has arrived and Samsung once again proved that they became one of the top Smartphone Manufacterer(in sales wise) by not merely pushing different models or just by copying other's inventions but also they invent or develop new technology and contribute to the overall developement of Mobile world. The long awaited feature of Dual Mode LTE Seamless Switching is here thanks to Samsung. Samsung has announced that they are gonna release another variant of Samsung Galaxy S4 & Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini models, which can switch between two different LTE networks seamlessly(with out the need of any of your attention). ZTE tried to come up with this type of technology at the end of last year by launching ZTE GRAND ERA but that phone needs to be restarted to switch between FDD to TDD LTE network or vice-versa. But it will not be the case with the new variant of Samsung Galaxy S4 or S4 Mini, the phone automatically switches between them. This technology here means a win-win situation for both carriers & customers(end users). You can buy any phone with this technology & need not to worry about being crippled when you travel to other countries where the other type of LTE technology is used as long as the phone supports the frequencies. Note: LTE is being implemented in two different formats FDD & TDD, US market is the prime example of FDD-LTE while China & India are some of the countries with TDD-LTE, So, till now you can't just buy 4G LTE phone from US carriers like Verizon, At&T or others and expect the device to work with the LTE network in China & India, even though the two different networks work on same frequency. For example, if you buy a Verizon 4G phone, which presumably works on 700Mhz frequency(for 4G) on Verizon network in US and bring it to China where if suppose one of the carrier do provide 4G on 700Mhz frequency, you still can't use 4G with that phone in China because Verizon uses FDD-LTE while China uses TDD-LTE. But it'll all change now, just buy a Verizon(or any other carrier for that matter) phone with this technology and take it another country where another type of LTE technology is used, you still will be able to use your phone thanks to the support of both LTE technologies & seamless switching between them. But still the frequencies needed to be supported by the phone. Sources: Multiple Technical Blogs -

Man! these PPOBox people throwing punches after pucnches at me, now they are asking me to pay Rs.1100/-(~$18.5) to ship my item from their NY hub to my SNS NY address, which is just 15 Miles away. $18.5 for 15 Miles and $10 for some ~ 14,000 KM -

Its the fault of PPOBox.com, to improve their business they have allowed all the people to declare value of their liking & used to deliver the items to customers with the customs fee for the declared value itself(which shouldn't have been done at first hand) and now the result of that practice can be seen by every body. Look at SNS, they've been strict in asking their customers to provide copies of original invoices(although they are other side of extreme, where they don't care what the customs are being charged, they just pass those charges to the customers) and so they aren't facing any problems with customs offices(officers) even now. -

As for the delay , its gonna take about 20-25 days atleast from the date ur item got to the NY hub during the audit period (1st-20jul) to get the item , as told by their manager, If that is the case I'm totally pissed off, my item reached their NY hub on 25th morning(EST) so I've to expect it to reach me at the end of August!! . Why didn't they inform their customers about this delay?, I was in constant touch with them from 20th July or even before that, but not once I was informed that there would be delay as much as this otherwise I would have used SNS service. I think this thing will hit hard their business. -

Ok, I always wanted to suggest or to have an escrow system for this forum(from my beginnings in this forum). Ebay idea is good as long as the buyers willing to pay the complete seller fee(I think it's about 10% if I'm not wrong, which may prove too much for buyer). But more than Ebay, I prefer an escrow service from the forum itself by some moderator or an Admin of the forum, which is simple(no charges or anything as all NEFT transactions are free) & hassle free as buyer deposits the money to the account of the escrow person, seller will be informed about the payment & provides the tracking number in case it is being delivered via courier, after receiving it the buyer confirms the receipt & his feedback, the money is released to the seller. Although I still think reputed sellers like Hetal & Parin my be exempted from this as they proved themselves time & again they are reliable. But as Parin suggested in one of his post in this thread, the seller also has to be protected otherwise the buyer may take advantage of all these measures that will be put to safeguard him/her.

Amazon after entering into Indian market first as 'Junglee.com' & has started it's Indian marketplace directly under it's own name 'Amazon.in' few days back. It has started Amazon.in only with books but now Amazon.in has started selling mobiles/smart phones and media players(mp3 players, etc.,) along with it's own tablets of Kindle line. Amazon.in is also looking to expand it's online market further in the near future by offering products in various other products including computers, laptops and so on. It is to be seen how much Amazon.in can compete and effect the businesses(if at all they do) of present players like flipkart. Source: Amazon.in

When all the world is expecting the next version of Android announcement or the illusive 'X Fone' announcement from the Google I/O 2013, which has kickstarted hours before, Google has made a big suprising announcement that they are gonna selling from their play store a Nexus Samsung Galaxy S4 running stock Android Jelly Bean, which will fully unlocked bootloader, network unlocked and will have prompt & direct updates from Google. The Nexus Galaxy S4 will put up on sale from June 26 for $649. Sources: Multiple, Can't name one. -
Hi amit great post, this is the first post I've liked in Rimweb.in, always wanted someone to post this info for the same reason you posted here, that is to get rid off the hassle for both buyers & seller everytime the buyer changes his/her number. There used to be a simple nv item file generator @ mobile5, but it was taken out. Glad that atlast someone sensed the necessity to have post like this. A win-win situation for both sellers & buyers. Once again thanks for the detailed information
