Samsung LED 6 series and above is best for price vs performance. If you are looking @ pure color quality alone, then go with Sony high end LED TV's. LG LED also had good color reproduction, but the biggest problem for me was its glossy screens(2010 models, not sure now). I have been using Sammy 32c6900 as monitor, Once you have adjusted with LED u will never go back to LCD. As someone told in this form, plasma is also good, but best for big screens.

newer generation blueray players are having built in media playing with USB and network, So you donot need to buy and additional Media player. For example look at LG BD390, Sony Internet TV Blu-ray Disc Player. If u still want buy a septate media player then look @ optical output (required to connect home theater) and m2ts, DTS dolby digital decoding support I am not good at suggesting a product for u, But looking @ u'r existing configuration I would tell that - wait for some more time and use any existing lptop and (PC audio system) to connect TV and play HD stuff from USB. May not be entirely correct, They may be super lazzy, bz they may not be getting any extra for repairing the h/s. OR They are deliberately making u'r mobile dead, bz they are swapping the board or something else from a damaged h/s. or selling the components to someone else
