Review: Samsung Google Nexus-S 4G From Sprint - Curvy Babe
Rahul Always replied to dkaile's topic in Samsung
I have been using the Samsung Nexus S 4G on Reliance network for the past 2 years now. EVDO has also been working successfully on the phone. However, since the past 3-4 days, I have been facing a completely peculiar problem. Initially, I noticed that the phone was not connecting to data. I assumed it to be a network issue and ignored it. However, later, when I tried to make a call, the call would get disconnected immediately, even before one ring. When I tried to call my number from another phone, the message that would come was that the phone was "switched off". I tried restarting my phone 3-4 times, tried airplane mode and back 3-4 times without any success. The phone shows itself as having quite a strong network Phone status as shown is: Signal Strength -65 dBm 16 asu Mobile Network type : CDMA -1XRTT:7 Service State: In Service Roaming: Not roaming (Now since I am not in my home network, this should have been shown as roaming but not sure since not checked earlier) Mobile Network state : Disconnected My phone Number : 9322******** MSID: Correctly indicated PRL Version : P:00005 MEID : Correctly shown Serial Number: Correctly shown I had bought this phone from Saddik and have not had any issues till date. I had also rooted the phone and was on Slimbean ROM till now. I tried to unroot the phone to see if that would solve the problem but without success. Presently phone is in factory settings, completely unrooted. I would really appreciate a solution to this problem. I am puzzled to say the least. Regards Rahul Update to the above problem: (07 Apr 14) My network is back but data is not working. I am now back to rooted state without luck. Looking desperately for some help to get my data working again. Regards Rahul -

Having read all the posts above with interest with regard to AAP, I must say that AK, having made his promises, is finding it extremely difficult to implement any of his manifesto issues. Reduction in Electricity bills may have been achieved but this is through subsidy which means the Elec Co continues to earn what they were earning earlier. The eventual loser is you and me (tax payers) who are subsidising a select few. Why should that happen. Even with regard to the Water promise, the 700 litre freebie suddenly seems too much. AK had promised to implement the Jan Lokpal Bill immediately but when confronted with corruption issues against the former CM and Cong members, he suddenly demands proof from BJP. If I remember correctly, this was the same AK who became famous for his shoot (without proof) and scoot. In the end, he wants to equate Cong and BJP and blame both the parties for the corruption in Delhi, even though it has been the Cong that has been ruling Delhi for past so many years. He has also suddenly developed Prime Ministerial aspirations and wants to project himself as a the only viable alternative to the Cong in centre. His party members have been openly supportive of militancy and seperatists in Kashmir, something that I as a citizen certainly do not wish to hear from my elected members. Arvind Kejriwal, honestly, you have not managed to convince me of your honesty of purpose. Something seems fishy and more than a bit, at that!

Good news for all those using Windows 8 Microsoft today announced that Windows 8.1, the update later this year for Windows 8, will be free to current users of the operating system, confirming analysts' expectations. Analysts applauded the decision to give away the update. "Making the upgrade free will make the ecosystem and installed base very happy," said Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst with Moor Insights & Strategy, in an email Tuesday. Tami Reller, CFO of the Windows division, made the announcement in prepared remarks at the JP Morgan Technology, Media & Telecomm Conference today. "Windows 8.1 will be delivered as a free update to Windows 8 and Windows RT," said Reller. "It will be easy to get right from the Windows Start Screen from the Windows app store." It's unknown whether Microsoft will use the "Windows 8.1" name for the simultaneous update to Windows RT, the tablet-centric offshoot designed for devices running ARM processors. Microsoft did not reply to questions about the naming of the Windows RT update. Reller declined to provide additional information on the update, such as the timing of the final release or specifics on Windows 8.1's contents. A public preview will ship during BUILD, Microsoft's developers conference, which will run June 26-28 in San Francisco. That preview will also be distributed through the Windows Store. Earlier this week analysts said that Microsoft had little choice but to offer the update free of charge. Today, industry experts praised the gratis status of Windows 8.1 as well as the numbering choice. "Microsoft made a good move on the naming and with the free upgrade," said Moorhead. "Calling it 8.1 signals that it's an improvement on its predecessor, not a sea change. This sets the right expectations." However, Michael Silver of Gartner said Microsoft should quickly answer several up-in-the-air questions that enterprises have about Windows 8.1. "We don't yet know what they're going to do to the desktop," said Silver, who also ticked off support -- specifically, how long Microsoft will support each of the expected annual updates. Will Windows 8.1 share the support lifecycle of its parent, Windows 8 -- which won't retire until January 2023 -- or have its own schedule? "Will they support 10 different updates?" Silver wondered. But the fact that Microsoft will make good on its promise to shift to a faster release tempo had Silver more optimistic about Windows 8's future. "Microsoft has a chance here," he said. "By the second half of 2014, there will be a lot more touch-enabled systems. That, and these updates, could help Windows 8 long term. I don't think Windows 8 will be more successful than Windows 7 [in the enterprise] but if 8.1 is easy to deploy, that could change over time." Most important to enterprises, said Silver, will be the ease of updating from Windows 8 to version 8.1. If the first "point" release is painless to distribute to Windows 8 hardware, Microsoft will have a better shot at convincing enterprises to adopt the radical OS. "If enterprises see that this is relatively easy to deploy, they may start thinking about Windows 8," Silver said. "What Microsoft needs to do is get some credibility here." After Microsoft moved to a regularly-scheduled Patch Tuesday in the fall of 2003, companies instituted a complicated process of testing and spot-deploying the updates before rolling them out en mass, said Silver. But as time went on, many halted the practice as they became confident the patches would not cripple computers or break applications. "Now, very few organizations do that," Silver maintained. "Microsoft needs to gain that kind of credibility for these [Windows 8] updates." Courtesy: www.computerworld.com

This seems to be one really useful website, especially for those of us who do not like to give their personal mobile numbers to sign up, where codes are required. You can use any of the numbers shown on the website and codes would be available in the site as indicated http://receive-sms-online.com/ PS: I have personally tried it and it works for Viber. So maybe you could also try it for Whatsapp! Regards Rahul

I am using Nexus S 4G too. I am on a rooted phone with SlimBean ROM 4.2.2 Jellybean. I did try *311 just now and it is working. So dont know why there is an issue with you. Regarding GPS, I dont know about Google Maps since I dont use it much but I am using Sygic and I have realised that if I turn on maps around 15-30 secs AFTER I turn on the GPS and with data ON, the signal acquisition is almost instant. It takes about maximum 15 secs or so for the phone to lock on to correct location. I turn off data after that. However, with data OFF initially, location acquisition can take time, sometimes even upto 5 mins from a cold start. Do check out. Maybe clearing GPS stats as suggested above might help Regards Rahul -
Happy Birthday Mujeeb! Wishing you a wonderful day today and a great year ahead! Hope you have a truly great time! PS: Enthaanu special?

^^^ Mine took close to 20 days from time of payment till receipt. Paid for it on 28 Feb and received it in hand on 20 Mar 13. In fact, it was just an international cover with nothing else. Just the guards placed together along with a small instructions card and a cleaning cloth. But yes, it does come!- 6,376 replies

Feel extremely ecstatic today (to be more precise I should say yesterday) but the feeling continues. Actually helped someone root his phone and install a custom ROM. Having joined as a complete newbie and noob out here and to be able to help someone in rooting makes me feel much more technologically advanced. I really want to thank everyone out here for enabling me to give back a little bit of what I have been learning, thanks to the push and efforts of everyone, all the tech gurus! Regards Rahul
