Please suggest 4" phone with S3 features?
Rahul Always replied to pasumark's topic in Handset Suggestions
I think people would find it easier to reply if you can indicate your budget too. Else you would end up with suggestions and not really be able to make sense out of them Regards Rahul -

Turn Your Windows 8 Laptop Into a Touchscreen Device With This Gadget Want to turn your laptop or desktop running Windows 8 into a touchscreen device? Accessory company Targus announced on Monday morning at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a first-of-its kind technology that makes the most of the latest Windows operating system, without the need to splurge for a pricey new computer that touts the company's built-in touchscreen capabilities. Windows 8 — which launched in October and was designed for touch — allows users to swipe, slide and access a full collection of features via your finger. But because of the cost of new hardware, many Microsoft fans upgraded to Windows 8 without buying an expensive touch-screen PC. Now, the Targus Touch Pen aims to give anyone using Windows 8 on older hardware the touch experience, with the help of a stylus. "Windows 8 is designed for touch, so if you have a current laptop and your device isn't capability for touch [sic], it lessens the value," Al Giazzon, VP of marketing and communications at Targus, told Mashable. "We put together a new product that turns current computers into a touchscreen device that supports Windows 8. It's easy to use, cheaper and is smaller than the size of your thumb." Here's how it works: A small receiver attaches to the side of the laptop screen and communicates with the black Touch Pen via a cable that connects to a USB port, so your laptop thinks it has a touchscreen. The Touch Pen acts like your finger would on a touchscreen, and the screen is protected with the stylus' soft tip. (Note: It doesn't work with an actual finger because it doesn't use either capacitive or optical touch tech). "Anything you can do with a touch-screen device, you can now do with a laptop or desktop," Giazzon said. "It also works with a laptop you bought years ago." Even better, the Touch Pen doesn't require software or drivers, and only a one-time calibration is needed to set up the device and determine the measurements of the screen. It works with any computer with Windows 8 and monitors up to 17 inches (so larger all-in-ones are out). Meanwhile, the company said it patented the technology that simulates the touch experience with a stylus for Windows 8 devices, which may ward off other manufacturers looking to get into the space. Loved the get together as I had indicated in my previous post. My only sore point (if I may call it so!) was the absence of two stalwarts of RIMWEB who are both from Mumbai and both of whom I was looking forward to meeting - Rajan Mehta and Saddik. I hope in the next meeting, both of them would be able to be present so that we can actually meet up with these two great guys who have been the life line of this amazing forum. Regards Rahul -

Was good to meet up after having been on the forum for quite sometime now. Finally meeting people who were only alisas / names and putting faces to the same felt good. Would love to have more such meets in the future. Ashok, your plans of another meet in Feb would be most welcome. Looking forward to it. Do keep us posted about time and location. I vote for one with families if it is to an orphanage. The family too would then get involved in this great forum! Thanks to everyone who could make it Regards Rahul -

I use my Samsung Google Nexus S 4g for GPS Navigation (thanks to Sygic Maps). I have found that if I switch on data, my GPS location acquisition is almost instant, including when am at home on wifi. If data is off, sometimes it does take quite a while before satellites are acquired. I am on Reliance CDMA. Regards Rahul

The new / updated buy-sell guidelines have become necessary simply because of one incident which has revealed certain limitations which can be exploited as of now. In a way, we should all be glad it happened. Unfortunately, more and more people are joining this forum merely to sell handsets and sharing of knowledge has become a premium. I have a suggestion which may or may not sound practical. Why not restrict the number of sellers at any point of time to a fixed number? It can be any number 10, 15, 20.... whatever as deemed fit. But no one else can be allowed to sell unless someone drops out of the seller list. This can ensure that people who join this forum do not do so merely to become a seller but rather to share/increase their knowledge. I happened to read the discussion in the previous post where someone had objected to the idea of stopping more members from being sellers since this might restrict the available options available to the valuable members from benefiting the option of better handsets at reasonable rates. IMHO, that is something which most members would be willing to give a miss if they are assured that handsets available here are genuine as are the sellers. There could be a waiting list available for others who want to start selling here which could be moderated so that as soon as one present seller drops out, the first person in the queue is permitted to join in and so on. Sounds quite complicated but then that would lead to better command and control. It would also ensure that people who are genuinely in love with technology remain and the remaining are filtered out. Having said that, am surprised that Rajan Mehta is not a moderator in this forum. Considering the amount of help he has been providing to everyone out here (which is completely voluntary and unpaid), he certainly deserves to be upgraded (unless of course he personally is against the elevation). These are merely my observations in response to the request by OP. More points as and when I am able to think up more Regards Rahul

I wonder why it took so long for people to come out on the streets to protest against an issue that has been alive for so long. Unfortunately, most political parties are only interested in gaining mileage out of this shameful incident and their protests and view points reflect that absurd reality. The present day (modern) generation gets swayed easily by happenings which have been highlighted, be it the Anna anti-corruption protests or the current agitation. However, sustaining such a movement is next to impossible since people will slowly migrate back to their normal lives over a period of time. However bitter this may sound, these agitations only retain freshness for a certain period of time. People would slowly get back to their normal lives. I cant blame anyone since everyone has a life to lead after all. Change can only come if we truly believe that the system can change. People do want a change but no one seems willing to take that extra step.Change can only come if we truly believe that the system can change. People do want a change but no one seems willing to take that extra step. This article from Mediacrooks sums up the matter almost perfectly. Worth a read for sure Regards Rahul

It has nothing to do with population, trust me. It is a mindset which unfortunately has set into the Indian psyche right from childhood. Otherwise, by that logic, each and every one of us should be corrupt. So what persuades one person from accepting a bribe / being corrupt and another from being free from those vices? Regarding empty stomachs causing people to be corrupt, nothing can be further from the truth. Many a poor person continues to sustain his family through an honest days labour rather than succumb to the easy path out. Most of us prefer the easier way out rather than the harder right. People dont mind jumping red lights, drunken driving etc fully secure in the feeling that a 500 rupee note would extract them from any "unpleasant" situation. When people are "willing" to pay, it is really difficult for the receiver to stand up and say no. After all, the argument would be, "I dont stand to gain anything even if I dont accept that bribe. Even if I do manage to make that person pay a fine/penalty, the same money is going to line some other leader's pocket. I might as well utilise it for my own personal benefit." Another problem which is unique to India is that corruption knows no classes. Right from the top most leadership to the lower most clerk, every person seems to have a price. Other countries like China have ensured that only their leadership is corrupt which, even though not desirable, still allows companies to deal with just a certain set of people and know that their work would be done. In India, however, companies fear to tread since they are not even sure of how much would be the "facilitation fees" for any work to be undertaken. The only way corruption can actually be weeded out is by ensuring that we ourselves do not add to the corrupt practices. How many of us are willing to stand in the queue or wait an extra hour so that our work can be done. Most prefer to grease the palm of the person controlling affairs so that "we" are not inconvenienced. The "we" includes many of the internet elite, who again turn up hordes to show support to Anna Hazare and co when they go on anti-corruption drives. How conveniently ironic. Let us all take a pledge to not take a bribe nor give one ourselves. If we can spread this movement, corruption would die a slow but sure death. Nothing else can work Regards Rahul

I think any good quality invertor with batteries would cost you in the range of 15-16K. There are many good quality invertors available in the market these days, most of them selling batteries under their own labels too. Microteck, Sukam, Amaron, Luminous etc. The list is endless. Another option for you would be to buy the inverter and batteries separately. That way, you dont get bound by the quality of batteries supplied by the inverter company. Exide and Amaron are good options. Regards Rahul
