  1. The recommendations of TRAI certainly seem commendable. Most of the time, we end up watching more of ads and less of the actual program content. Sometimes it feels so stupid where the actual movie is shown for hardly 3-4 minutes and ad breaks are like 15 minutes at a stretch. I guess the hardest hit would be the serial producers who would be forced to show more content in those 30 minute slots rather than the present 10 minute serial and 20 min ad! I have more or less stopped watching cricket simply because the channel cant seem to wait for the last ball to be bowled before the ad starts and if the first ball of the next over is missed, so be it. No wonder sports like hockey and football are not popular in India.

    I just received the P&G samples today. I think takes almost 2-3 months for them to be delivered. Got two shampoo samples, one small Arial Oxy Blue sample and Olay sample!
  3. The prices quoted here and higher than the prices for same models as shown on the official Dell website so it does seem like a kind of scam that they increase the prices and then indicate a Rs 3000 bargain! Anyway thanks a lot for the info!
  4. Does anyone have a good deal for a laptop? I am looking to buy a laptop and I would like at least a 14" screen size if not 15.6" along with i3 or i5 processor and graphics card (if possible). Windows 7 (since I dont want to end up hunting for OS later on). I am located in Mumbai so any offline deals too would be welcome. If anyone has any new laptop for offer too, more than welcome.     Updated! Finally ICS is here! I own the Nexus S 4G and have received the OTA update. I dont know for how long it has been available since till last week, I had a rooted phone with a leaked ICS Rom anyway. I had decided to switch back to unrooting the handset and the moment I did that, I received the OTA update. I am now presently on ICS 4.0.4 Build IMM76D. Nothing much different from the ROM I had been using earlier (Peter Crespo 4G ICS) so I am more or less used to working on ICS.

    @Update... Saddik got my new number activated on the handset. However, one more issue is that this seems to be a temporary number since I have taken up a post paid connection with a choice no. So maybe I stay with the temporary no as of now. Data he has promised to activate on Monday. Thanks a lot to his support and to all out here PS: The activation code for Nexus S 4G is *22898

    I too have a similar issue so can someone out here help me too. I had a working Reliance number on my Samsung Google Nexus S 4G which I had purchased from Saddik here. After shifting to Mumbai, I wanted to change to a local number and so went to the Webworld to apply for a new number. They gave me a new post paid connection which is presently activated on a RUIM. Since I wanted it to be shifted to my handset, the Webworld guy accordingly raised a lost case and transferred my old number to a RUIM. He also managed to get the handset MEID released but I am still unable to dial *228. Can someone tell me how I should proceed further? The handset is registered on Reliance network and has been working satisfactorily. It is just that I am unable to use it now and the Webworld guy just asks me to dial *228 and says all will be fine. But since that is not happening (nothing is happening when I dial *228), I am requesting for assistance. Thanks in advance. PS: Last time Saddik had saved me the effort of going to the WW and done the number transfer himself so I am not sure how it was undertaken. Regards Rahul

    By the way, the magazine is worth subscribing to. It does offer unbiased views on various consumer products. One peculiarity of the magazine is the lack of advertisements which it says, enables it to remain completely neutral. It survives ONLY on viewership money which is something unique in India. Do try it out, you will also like it!

  12. Tradus is quite prompt with their deliveries. I have been having good experience so far. The only issue arises is when after making the payment, they indicate that the item is out of stock which can be quite disconcerting since the product could have been available elsewhere at about the same time at comparable costs. Refunds however are quite prompt and take max around 15 days which seems reasonably fine.

  17. Well finally settled for the Spice MI-280. Booked it from Sulekha as advised by Rajanji and got it in 2 days flat! Cant have asked for better service. The phone certainly looks decent and as of now, performing well. Too many unwanted softwares loaded. Would need to root I guess to get rid of them but as of now, within warranty so not doing much to it. Thanks all for the assistance Regards Rahul

Considering that a new Spice MI 280 is available at 4538 and a used (but almost mint) Samsung Galaxy Y is available for close to 6000 in ebay.in, which would be a better deal? Rajan bhai can you help me please? I just want a basic Android which can meet all my basic requirements + 3G. Front cam etc not really relevant. Wifi is required. GPS again not really relevant. So is the extra 1500 really worth or will the Spice MI 280 really meet up to expectations? Regards Rahul

    Internet as we know it has been in existence for close to two decades and it is no surprising that governments the world over are slowly realising the importance of this medium. Mass opinions can make or break policies, something which was not happening till quite recently. The growth of social networking sites like Orkut, Facebook and Google +, to name a few, have only hastened this process. It is something similar to television. When it was first introduced, people were quite skeptical over it and even predicated that the phenomenon would not be able to sustain. Today television is treated seriously as is evident from the heavy weight politicians who are willing to spend time defending their policies rather than merely ignoring a political debate. However, what we would have to realise is that, unlike traditional form of media, the internet has always been largely unfettered and unregulated and actually asking for some kind of policing to be undertaken would be an arduous, if not impossible task. Traditional media gets bound by physical and geographical boundaries, something that the virtual world does not have to contend with. It would not take too long for an "offending" website to completely shift operations from a country where they find it inconvenient to operate to a more "friendly" environment. As has been proved with viruses and trojans, people can keep coming out with solutions but there is always another virus waiting to happen! All said and done, let us hope that we continue to have a completely independent and unregulated internet, where people can be free to express themselves without fear or favour and the only regulation is self imposed!
