santanu@impaq ya thats true, but still an official update is always better right, if samsung cannot update why dont they help developers by providing codes like sony ericsson is doing with cyanogen mods

i wonder if nexus s and galaxy s and even epic share almost the same hardware why couldnt they just make touchwiz li8 versions so that they can save battery power and speed up the performance ?? they dont people to stick to their galaxy s line up, they want their new dual core phone to be sold and used by the people ?? but for how long, quad core processors are on their way to conquer the mobile phone industry ?? they they will say that samsung galaxy s2 is "incompatible" with android next "light" versions of android samsung "shame on you !!!"

When Sony Ericsson explained how hard it is to release a major software update, we got the feeling that we're in for a pretty long wait. Yet, it seems that the company's developers are progressing faster than expected as they just released an alpha preview, which can be used by devs to start working on apps for Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) right now. The preview ROM isn't suited for a day-to-day use - major features like telephony, Wi-Fi and Google apps aren't functional just yet. Also, only the Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray are getting ICS preview ROMs. The rest of the phones will still get ICS when its finalized, of course, but if you want to check out the alpha you need to use one of those three. If you're a developer, who wants to flash their compatible phone (again, this really isn't suited for daily usage), you need to be running software with build number 4.0.2.A.0.42 (that's the latest available). Also, you need to unlock the bootloader, but keep in mind that if you do that, some issues may arise when the proper release of the Ice Cream Sandwich starts seeding to your phone. Anyway, there's a good deal of things that are already up and running and here goes the complete list: New “Roboto” font New “Holo” theme is supported (you are able to test apps written to make use of the Holo theme) Music player control from lock screen Updated UI in the Settings menu Updated UI in the web browser Updated UI and interaction with the new messaging action bar Updated UI for improved multitasking Swipe to dismiss notifications, tasks and browser tabs in the Notification menu You may want to check out the following video, showcasing these new things. Much like with the leaked Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S II, the custom interface covers most of ICS but you get to see a glimpse of Android 4.0's cool new elements here and there. If you like what you see and want to develop apps for ICS, you may want to follow http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wp/2011/12/15/ice-cream-sandwich-alpha-rom-available-for-unlocked-xperia-phones/ to the Sony Ericsson's blog post for more info and download links. source: Gsmarena.com

shadow replied to parin's topic in Android
may be i should sell off my phone to buy an mango :-P ,, i want to feel the mango os , its looks modern, stylish and attractive , i hope its stable too, -
most of us start cursing companies about the late android updates, we feel that gingerbread has been out for almost an year now and we still didnt get it, but its easy for companies with limited models like apple, because if they want to do an software update they have to do it only for a max of 5 devices(2g,3g,3gs,4,4s), but what about companies like Samsung, Sony Ericsson ?? Samsung releases many devices per year globally, and many more regional and carrier specific, so they have to deal with diff types of chipsets, processors, bluetooth versions etc etc etc, and get them tested , verified and certified before they roll out to the end customers there is an interesting article on sony ericsson website about the steps involved for updating an android os source : http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wp/2011/12/07/ice-cream-sandwich-from-source-code-release-to-software-upgrade/

For People Cursing Companies About Late Software Updates
shadow replied to shadow's topic in Android
@ghosh ji, i aint denying that we have put our hard earned money, and we the customer is the king, i only tried to focus on a reason we get late updates, if u read the article completely it says that the certification process is what makes the delay, because they have to apple for global certificate and regional certificates and other health and technical standard certifications after each update, there are some companies which delay the updates because they dont want to, like LG for example, -

Which Handset To Buy: MTS Livewire, MTag Or Samsung Pop i559
shadow replied to mailgujarat's topic in Handset Suggestions
better go for a gsm handset, i would suggest you, if ur budget is below 10k and u want an android, go for htc wildfire(if still available in the market) or wildfire s (btwn 12-13k) or go for HTC explorer, if u are not a pro user , i hope these phones will fulfill your needs of a multimedia smart phone , i would never suggest u to go for a indian manufactured samsung, sorry sammy fans but its true, if u want any more suggestions about handsets pm me, available 8/7 :-P -

Hello fellow rimwebians. First when I got a samsung epic 4g for me I faced a problem oh. How to backupmy contacts because every time I installed a rom or something I lost all my contacts notes reminders. Calendar updates etc ... we do not have. Kies for that purpose ... so people using mobiles which do not have a pc sync software for back ups I got a solution for u. I'm using it for last 7 months and its just great.. Its "my phone explorer". Its great for contacts, notes and calendar but for text msgs use gosms pro for perfect back ups.. And the great part is its free.. it works for both sony ericcsson and all android phones so have fun guys http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php I will be doing more tutorials (sorry if I'm sounding dumb) I will improve myself for presentations So guys plzz ping me ur suggestions,, I will try to cope up :-) thank u From next I will try to make "how to" videos . Because we need to help. The "mango" people in our forum :-)
