  1. @grebel @maverick75 Hi guys, sorry for the delayed reply. Was out of town. On the eh19, there is the problem of the factory reset whenever you will restart the phone. I havent found a solution for that. The ek10 rom from Maverick75 is a lifesaver for us reliance i500 guys...you can play around any which way you like and if there is any problem, come back to ek10, all problems solved Even from ICS roms, Ive just flashed the ek10 (no pit needed) and it works. However, the problem with the data on reliance still exists (data will only work on the official reliance rom like ek10). If anybody knows a way out, please lemme also know. @grebel, the geewiz 2.81 rom + kernel is quite cool, however, you will have to put in your mobile number using cdma workshop to get out of the language selection loop. Regards, Kartik.
  2. @joshm Finally upgraded to ICS... its running really smoothly. You were right, I started from scratch and was successful One problem I'm facing is that every time I call somebody (either from my phonebook or from the dial screen), 011 is dialed as a prefix before any number. How do I get this to stop? Thanks in advance, Kartik.
  3. @joshm Im trying to flash THS ICS Build 15, as you suggested. I got into the blue recovery, but when I try to flash the rom, the phone goes into a bootloop (back into the Galaxy S logo). I removed and reinserted the battery, and went back into blue recovery and tried flashing the rom again. But same issue.....Please help... Thanks in advance, Kartik
  4. Hi Everyone, I've tried flashing ICS as well as evil fascination. However, on both, the data does not work (even after flashing the Data fix). I got the phone from Reliance India, wherein for activating data (on froyo), I got to Settings>Wireless and Networks>Mobile Networks>CDMA Data Settings, and enter #777 for PPP digit and mobile number for username/password. These options are not available on the ICS as well as Evil fascination. Any idea of how to go about that? Thanks in advance, Kartik.
  5. Hi Maverick75, Do you have the ek10 file. I need to flash again. Please help me out. Thanks, kartik.
  6. Hi Vishal, I waited for a long time (at least 30 mins) as sometimes it does take that long. But it never went further. @Maverick The steps that I followed were as follows: I was on EK 10. I flashed cwm recovery using odin and then three fingered the su file for rooting. Then copied geewiz files to the sd card and installed them. After this, I get the boot problem with the verizon logo. I don't know where I am going wrong. Thanks again guys, Kartik.
  7. Hi Maverick, It keeps showing the verizon logo. I cant make out whether it reboots in between or not, but the animated logo of verizon keeps starting over and over. Initially, after getting it reset (to eclair) from the service centre, there is no dbdata issue. Only when I try to flash, it comes up. When I try to wipe in recovery mode, it displays dbdata wipe failed... Thanks again, kartik.
  8. Thanks Joshm, My thoughts too.... Ive tried way too many things, had to visit the Service center twice... Will be sticking to Stock for now. Hopefully Maverick75 will come up with a solution Hi Kartik, I am sure you have not given up. You dont have to. Just follow the steps i did. It will get you to atleast GB level. I havent loaded ICS as of now as last time i tried, it worked, but without data (so its useless for me). BTW i visited the SC to get my handset back to stock. Heres what i did next 1) Updated the handset from DL14 eclair to EK10 froyo. 2) Rooted the handset using procedure from xda (droidstyle guide step 6) (http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1238070) but dint replace the kernal as suggested by him for rooting froyo. Worked on our stock ek10 kernal. 3) Did a Nandroid Backup using recovery. 4) Backed up data from sd card (just in case... but dint require it though), Backed up sms, call logs using Super backup v1.1 (mobile idea studio) & Apps using App Backup Reinstall 5) Copied geewiz 2.8.1 Rom & kernal files on root of sd card shut down phone, restart in recovery using 3 finger tech 6) Selected install from zip - chose geewiz system and after completion chose geewiz kernel Then reboot. You will be on GB Pls note that i did not wipe neither cache nor dalvik nor data. It still worked for me. Plus point was that i dint have to do anything else like relogin to gmail or facebook etc. Its working fine for me as of now so should work for you too as we are sailing in the same boat (read Reliance handsets). Hope this helps. Hi Maverick75, Thanks for the info. I had tried the above steps earlier, but got stuck in the boot loop. This happened after flashing geewiz. I followed the exact steps you have mentioned. Any idea where I could be going wrong? Warm regards, Kartik.
  9. Thanks Joshm, My thoughts too.... Ive tried way too many things, had to visit the Service center twice... Will be sticking to Stock for now. Hopefully Maverick75 will come up with a solution
  10. Guys, Please help. Originally the stock version that came on my phone was Firmware version: 2.1 -update 1 Baseband version: S:i500.04 V.DL10 Kernel: 2.6.29 Build Number: SCH-i500.DL14 Tried searching a lot, but could not find it. This firmware allows me to update to 2.2 using kies. I really don't know what Reliance does, but am unable to do any other update or flash. Thanks a lot guys, Kartik.
  11. @joshm @maverick75 I tried to flash geewiz, but landed up with the same problem of reset. Do you have the link for the reliance stock eclair firmware. I can start back from there... Thanks a lot, Kartik.
  12. Can you please let me know how to go about the above. Thanks and regards, Kartik.
  13. I tried a lot of the different ways on this post, but could not update. Can you give me the steps that you followed? Also, I need to do a complete nandroid backup first. I really don't want to go to the service centre again Im going to go by the steps given in #329 of pg 22 (suggested by amit). Can I use that su file? Thanks a lot, guys...
  14. The service centre is near Harinivas, on the Bhakti Mandir Road. (Micro Services, Shop no 6, Dev Prayag chs Ltd,Bhakti Mandir Rd,Panch Pakhadi 400602) They asked no questions, just took the phone, reinstalled eclair and gave it back. But remember to take the bill with you...... Regards, Kartik.
  15. Facing the same problem with the Reliance fascinate. Any way around this? Tried changing the SPC too, but doesn't work.....
  16. Hi amit, Just for rooting, what are the steps that I need to follow. Then I can do a nandroid backup, right? please let me know how I can do that. Thanks so much.
  17. @joshm, Updated to EK10 using kies. Now i wanted to do a complete backup before trying anything other update so that the factory reset problem does not occur again. How do I go about that. What exactly is a nandroid backup? Thanks in advance, Kartik.
  18. Do you have the link for the kies mini for the sch i500. Is there a specific one for reliance india or will any version do? Thanks, Kartik.
  19. @joshm @maverick75 I finally had to go to the Samsung service centre. They finally resolved the factory reset problem I had, but am back to eclair 2.1. Firmware version: 2.1 -update 1 Baseband version: S:i500.04 V.DL10 Kernel: 2.6.29 Build Number: SCH-i500.DL14 Atleast, have a working phone now, but back to square 1 Thanks again for all your help, Kartik.
  20. Thanks, amitroutray, I got the SPC by downloading ConnectBot from the Google Market. On installing and running it, it gave me a looooong list of parameters. Within that, I got the SPC. Mine was different. Regards, Kartik.
  21. I did all of the above as you mentioned. After flashing again the stock reliance tar, I flashed both geewiz 2.8 rom and kernel (after the su flash). However now I'm stuck at the boot screen of Verizon wireless. At least there is some kinda progress... for the first time I see Verizon instead of Reliance joshm, Nothing else worked, so I again flashed only the stock reliance tar. Now at least I have a working phone, although with the factory reset problem. In case I want to take it to Samsung service (I bought the phone just a week back), what do I have to do in advance. Will they know I have played around with it? Regards, Kartik
  22. I did all of the above as you mentioned. After flashing again the stock reliance tar, I flashed both geewiz 2.8 rom and kernel (after the su flash). 23. @rajanmehta Thanks. I tried the same, but when I try to change the SPC to 000000 (after unlocking by the actual SPC), it does not accept and gives an error 'Device does not accept SPC, SPC is not correct. Device may not respond during 10 seconds' Regards, Kartik.
