Tutorial: How to get Hotspot icon in notification and main menu of Samsung Galaxy S4 SPH-L720
Vinod Nayak replied to Vinod Nayak's topic in Samsung
Run sqlite database editor In menu select application database, Please check OP for the above procedure. This time select secure. Look for chemeleon_tethereddata column by using the right arrow at the to, click on it. Select Edit/View Change value from 1 to 3. Select update. Once updated, this is how it should look. Select back all the way and reboot. Hotspot should be there in the main menu like shown in the picture. IMPORTANT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256950 Use the link to download hotspot mod, please be carefull selecting which file to download. Depending on the baseband select accordingly. If you are on MF9, the select MF9. Again to check if your file system is on Odexed or Deodexed, go to /system/app and see if it's odexed or Deodexed. If file extension is .odex, then select MF9odexed.zip. Once downloaded, flash like mentioned on the XDA site and reboot. Your Wi-Fi tethering should work. I HAVE FLASHED A MOD(comadose) & BECAUSE OF THAT I'M UNABLE TO TETHER. Still working on the work around. Not sure if this will work for you. Please check and tell. Original XDA Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303074 The first method is hard but doable if you know how to use adb pull and adb push. Sprint Galaxy S IV SPH-L720 SIM Unlock Method GSM/WCDMA
Vinod Nayak replied to Vinod Nayak's topic in Tutorial and Guides
I used this method to get the APN working and can confirm that it works wonderfully. Also I didnt faced the issue mentioned. The two lines are still active in the build.prop and I get the GSM/UMTS setting under mobile network. In fact , now I get two enteries about 'Network type'. One populates all the options that we get with hidden menu ##4636#(not sure of exact code but something like that) and one showing 4 options : GSM/WCDMA/LTE(auto), GSM/WCDMA(auto), GSM only, WCDMA only. One can safely use this option IMO. I use option 2 i.e GSM/WCDMA(auto) What Rom are you on? Stock MDL or MF9 or any other custom Rom.Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 Stock MDL with MDC baseband .. rooted .. Nope does not work. Tried it. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 what it says ? invalid sim ? Yup Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 -

Also if I flash a aosp 4.3 rom will the unlock work or there would be issues ? Only if you do a hard reset then you lose the unlock. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 -

The APN settings are greyed out in the hidden menu. You can edit the APN if you have root access, by adding 2 lines in build.prop mentioned below. ril.sales_code=LOL ro.csc.sales_code=LOL Reboot Goto APN SETTINGS, Once you feed the right APN, save it. Also add # in front of the 2 lines added earlier in build.prop, or remove/delete both lines, save and exit. If those 2 lines are not removed, you won't get GSM/UTMS under more data settings which I had mentioned in my earlier post. I have not tried this, people who know how to edit build.prop with confidence please try and let us know. I don't have the time to do this and off to Goa for the weekend. Hope that some dealers work in this and get the data working. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 4 -

After unlock DO NOT revert back to MF9 baseband. for some reason under more data settings there is no GSM/UTMS menu. people who want to use GSM stay on MDC/MDL baseband. if you unlock and revert back to MF9 like mentioned in the OP you wont be able to use GSM for now. The XDA OP is for SPRINT activated phones not like ours which are not activated. for now MF9 GSM capabilities are not possible. Please who know about this please experiment and see if anyone can retain GSM under MF9 once unlocked. -
