  1. ^^^ Dear Ashok Bhai, please teach us also some JHOL JHAL like this.
  2. ^^^ My dear Pankaj, this is really a good USB Modem. Speeds are awsome. But it is network locked. And you even can't make Voice Calls with it. Even when you try to insert the netsetter sim in mobile handset and try to make a voice call, then you won't be able to. Only you can send and recieve SMS's. Now the best part of this Data Card / Usb Modem : My dear friends, the latest model of this Usb Modem which is introduced in Mumbai recently, is 3G enabled. Yes, that means, whenever in the future 3G introduced in India, we will get 3G speeds with this USB Modem. No need to upgrade to a newer hardware for this. Its confirmed. I myself confirmed this from the technical department of IDEA 4-5 times. So, its better to invest in this USB Modem. Vodafone also introduced its USB Stick which is 3G enabled. But you know they are always costly. Their 3G enabled USB Modem is priced around approx. 6000/-. And this Netsetter from IDEA is less then the half price of Vodafone's 3G enabled USB Modem. I'm 100% satisfied with IDEA'S Netsetter's performance. Regards.
  3. Google to power iPhone voice search The Times of India l 15 Nov SAN FRANCISCO: Google is reportedly weighing into the Internet voice search arena with a free application that lets iPhone user’s surf online by speaking queries. An article published in The New York Times said the software could be available at iTunes online store shortly. Google will be stepping into an arena with rivals Microsoft and Yahoo, which already let people using "smart" phones scour the Web with spoken queries. The Internet powerhouse already offers a toll-free GOOG411 telephone service in the United States that people can call and speak to a computer system that fetches contact information they seek. The iPhone application will be Google's first foray into voice-based Internet search. Google in 2006 received a US patent for a system that "provides search results from a voice search query." "Current speech recognition technology has high word error rates for large vocabulary sizes," Google wrote in the patent application. Yahoo crafted voice recognition into its oneSearch mobile Internet service this year to let users perform "wide open" searches by speaking questions. Microsoft added voice to its Live Search mobile service last year. "Voice search can be particularly effective on connected devices, since it can take advantage of network-based speech technology and data resources," organizers of a Voice Search Conference in California say on their website. "One can simply say what one wants, much like talking to a personal assistant, and have any ambiguity resolved by a quick dialog or a display of alternative results." Google is leaving a door open to crafting voice search into Internet-linked phones built with an open-source Android software platform that the California-based firm has championed.

Some of our friends here are suggesting for a limit of 50 to 100 posts for new members to post in Buy / Sell Bazaar Forum. But at the same time I would like to share that their are some sellers / members on the forum who didn't even completed their 30 / 50 posts. But they are quite old at the forum and genuine too. So, if we set such a high limit then it can be a problem for them. What you say my dear friends ?

  7. Dr. Google Tracks Spread of Flu Makes mundane searches turn Now, we know Google is a highly capable search engine and that the word search is now synonymous with Google. The large user base the search engine possesses has never been tapped yet -- until now that is. The following story shows how the power of Google has made mundane searches turn into statistics. The Flu, a common ailment amongst Americans is known for its seasonal bouts. It is usually accompanied by a host of symptoms including a sore throat, aches, coughs and google searches'. Yes that's correct, Google searches! Now if you are wondering what a Google search has to do with flu, here comes the interesting part. As it turns out, a normal bout of flu is often accompanied by affected family members typing away "flu" or flu related queries on Google. This simple act, when multiplied by the amount of queries related to flu that Google receives is tabulated has given birth to what is known as Google Flu Trends, an early warning system for flu-outbreaks. The tool comes from Google.org, Google's philanthropic wing and going by the results of the preliminary tests, it will be able to detect regional outbreaks of the disease well in advance -- giving medical workers as many as 10 days to act well in advance to prevent an epidemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who has been traditionally in the business of forecasting bouts of contagious ailments had in the past reported about an increase in the number of flu cases in some parts of the U.S. However, when tabulated alongside the results from Flu Trends, it came to be known that the actual spike in flu related queries in the affected area began almost two weeks prior to the release of the CDC report. It was obvious that the CDC reports will be slower is it relied more on traditional sources like lab reports and data aggregated from thousands of health workers. Currently, the service only covers the USA. Considering Google is a leader in almost all the countries where there is Internet access,(Yes, there are some which do not) the application can help a great deal in the prevention of a possible epidemic. 22. Airtel, Asklaila kick off free search on mobile, DTH Economic Times l 13 Nov l New Delhi Looking for that Thai restaurant or a school address in the city? Try Asklaila.com on your Airtel mobile. India’s largest mobile operator Airtel on Wednesday announced a partnership with local search engine Asklaila.com. With this free service, about 21-mn Airtel subscribers in six cities will be able to search via mobile, DTH or internet (on Airtellive.com) across 400 different categories. “It’s a consumer service whereby Asklaila.com has mapped local business listings in six cities—Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. We will be expanding our local search to 13 cities by 2008-end,” says Bharti Airtel CMO Sanjay Gupta. It offers another service for subscribers. If you want to save those mobile call bills while dialling a pizza outlet or a shop, you can make them toll free. With a free call feature available on all paid local listings, the advertiser will pay for the local call. The local search for most categories will also be available on Airtel DTH service. An interactive menu (developed by Infosys) shows the options for various categories on the TV screen which has an Airtel DTH service. For mobile phones, Airtel is offering the service through SMS or by USSD (unstructured supplementary service data) SMS service. In an USSD SMS session there is no store-and-forward capability, but response times for USSD-services are quicker. A SMS to *321# from any mobile generates an interactive local search menu. Incidentally, Airtel already has a partnership with Google for local search. Says Google India MD Shailesh Rao: “We are in the process of mapping Indian cities and making our local search presence robust. To get customers hooked on, we have already started a free interactive voice-based call centre.” Google India has started toll free local search for Hyderabad whereby anyone can call and find information about a local restaurant, inquire about airline or railway schedule. While Google is banking on its capability to replicate its successful local search model in the US, in India local companies with large local database like Asklaila might acquire strong capability. “We have raised about $12 million and invested about 7-8 months in building a database for each city with a large manpower on the ground, doing a double check on each listing. In India, about 20-30% of all web searches happening are local in nature,” Asklaila co-founder Kiran Konduri said. The revenue model for local search, according to Airtel, will be twofold. One from listings—paid listings will be sprinkled with stardust on the screen. The other model is through each lead conversion—Airtel-Asklaila will charge the advertiser a fixed fee per lead generated through local search. “Each call by a Airtel subscriber via Asklaila.com will be played to the advertiser with a three-second clip saying this lead is brought to you by Asklaila.com,” adds Mr Konduri. The number of total web searches per month in India is estimated to be about 1 billion, and 20-30% of these are local in nature, i.e., 200-300 million searches per month. In comparison, local search as a percentage of web search is about 60% in the US, as per Comscore.
  23. DoT issues notice to RCOM Economic Times l 13 Nov 2008 l New Delhi NEW DELHI: The department of telecommunications (DoT) is learnt to have sought an explanation from Reliance Communications (RCOM) on the telco’s alleged move to show its non-voice revenues as those incurred from its Internet services operations. The DoT is also learnt to have told RCOM to offer proof within 15 days that its non-voice revenues are not being passed of as Internet service revenues. A copy of this DoT communication is available with ET. The issue is as follows: An Internet service provider (ISP) does not need to share any revenue with the government. But those offering Net telephony share 6% of aggregate revenue as liccence fee. On the other hand, mobile companies pay 6-10% of their aggregate revenues as licence fee, depending on the circle of operation. On top of this, they are also charged an additional 2-6% of their revenues towards spectrum charges. A recent UBS Investment Research report had pointed out that RCOM had submitted one set of revenue figures in its financial statements and a different set to sector regulator Trai. Following the UBS report, GSM operators, through their industry body—The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI)—had approached the DoT seeking its members too be allowed to pass off non-voice revenues from mobile services side to that of their ISP licenses. COAI was of the view that this would allow its members to save on the levies they pay to the government. When contacted on this issue, the Reliance Communications spokesperson said : “The accounts, audited by internationally recognised auditors, are in full compliance with the prescribed framework”. Explaining the classification, the spokesperson said RCOM was the country’s largest integrated telecommunications service provider, offering a suite of diverse services using world’s leading technologies. “The company offers the country’s most popular web-based value added services on the mobile platform with over ten million unique users. RCOM is also the largest wireless ISP in the country with over one million Internet data card customers and many million mobile customers accessing the Internet from their fully-digital mobile handsets,” the company statement added. The spokesperson however did not answer specific queries on whether the company had received this letter from DoT, its take on the UBS report and if the DoT has asked RCOM to reply within 15 days. “Based on the report of UBS securities Asia Ltd, it has been brought to our notice that the non-voice revenues of UAS licence are bring booked under ISP licence and therefore the concerned company - RCOM - avoided payment of licence fee. The non-voice revenues got from a service being provided under UASL are not eligible for booking under ISP licence of another company and therefore are to be included as part of the revenues computed for payment of licence fee, spectrum charges and other statutory duties,” the DoT’s communication to RCOM added.
