Updated : India To Have 15.8 Mn Wimax Users By 2012 ! Telecom Companies Waiting To Launch Wi-max Facilities In India !
Honest replied to Honest's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
WiMAX to Soar in India To boost Indian economy Along with 3G, India is expecting the launch of WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) soon. The WiMAX Forum describes WiMAX as the first commercial technology specifically optimized for mobile broadband. The "not-for-profit" organization deems that the technology provides a scalable, cost-effective solution that is the strongest candidate to provide high-speed broadband Internet across India. Given its true broadband performance capabilities, early availability, cost advantages, government support and the upcoming auctions relating to the 2.3/2.5 GHz frequency bands, the WiMAX Forum projects that the Indian WiMAX market including devices will be worth $13 billion (Rs. 52,000 crore) in 2012. This market projection takes into account 27.5 million WiMAX users, or 19 million WiMAX subscribers in 2012. "Soon, big global WiMAX players, including Alcatel-Lucent, Motorola, Huawei, and Samsung -- all are setting up shop in India," says CS Rao, chairman, WiMAX Forum India chapter. He further adds, "Broadband penetration being low, the opportunity for operators to gain large numbers of subscribers through WiMAX is incredible. Any service provider with innovative service offerings, attractive devices and go-to-market plans that maximize the utility offered by WiMAX technology to price-sensitive Indian customers can use this ready and proven technology to quickly gain market share," "India currently has only 4.5 million broadband users out of a population of 1.2 billion people. And with these recent regulatory decisions, India joins other major developed nations such as the US, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Russia in freeing up prime spectrum for mobile WiMAX deployments," said Mr. Resnick, president and chairman of the WiMAX Forum. "With the expected demand for WiMAX-enabled devices brought on by India's planned WiMAX deployments, WiMAX Forum will add an Indian certification lab to its existing network in 2009 to stay ahead of the demand for products in this region. This will be very important to the device-hungry Indian market, which can look forward to connected laptops, USB dongles, ultra-mobile PC's (UMPCs), mobile handsets, and mobile Internet devices (MIDs)." WiMAX Forum predicts that major rollouts of WiMAX technology in India will have a tremendous positive effect on the nation's economy and the widespread access to broadband will greatly increase economic productivity by laying the groundwork for important initiatives, such as distance learning, telemedicine and e-government. According the government, the Indian economy is currently growing at 9% year over year; in particular there are an additional 8-10 million mobile phone subscribers every month. Courtesy : Techtree -

My dear Mukesh, I think Lenovo is much better then Acer. And no doubt 10.1" also a plus factor. Although Acer too is not that bad, but when you compare as per the brand, then Lenovo could be better. Regards.

^^^ My dear Dhiraj Ji, their's nothing special to recharge online for STV. You have to do it like a normal rehcarge. Actually, here, is the AMOUNT which mattters. For this, first of all, one have to keep in mind which amount is related to which STV or TOPUP. If you recharge for 98 rupees or say 49 rupees, then it will automatically be counted as STV and SMS pack respectively. If you recharge for 101, 210, 310, 510 then it will automatically taken as Topup. No special procedure is their for recharging for STV. Go ahead. Cheers ! -

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
Honest replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
3G spectrum auction put off till January Economic Times l 18 Oct l Mumbai MUMBAI: The much-awaited auction of 3G spectrum will now be held in January as the department of telecom (DoT) does not have adequate airwaves in nine out of 22 circles. Delay in spectrum vacation by the defence forces, coupled with the holiday season in December, has pushed back the process that could bring about Rs 40,000 crore to the treasury. The global financial turmoil notwithstanding, DoT has framed a schedule to complete the auction by January after the finance ministry expressed concern over the delay in the process. The ministry had written to the DoT on October 13, to conclude the auction at the earliest. However, according to sources, DoT is still in talks with defence ministry to get the spectrum vacated in the 2.1 Ghz 3G band in nine circles. “We do not have enough spectrum available in the 2.1Ghz band. Similarly, in the 2.5 Ghz band (for WiMax), we have one block of 25Mhz and another of 15 Mhz. Steps are on to get this changed to two blocks of 20 Mhz each, for which consultations are on with the department of space and their decision is awaited,” sources told ET. In the 2.3 Ghz band (also for WiMax), spectrum being used by various public sector organisations is being reframed to ensure that 40Mhz is available for auction. The auction was earlier scheduled in December. “The last fortnight of December, being holiday season, would not be the best time for conducting an international auction of this magnitude. This new timeframe will be sent to the finance ministry early next week,” said the sources. “As per the new timeline, DoT is targeting to sign contracts with successful bidders and receive the first tranche of auction money (25% of the total) by January 31,” they added. Consultation with stakeholders, auction design, preparation of bid document and design of auction site by e-auction agency N M Rothschild, will be over by November 30. Subsequently, DoT will invite parties to bid and undertake testing of auction platform and software. This will be completed around mid-December. Auctions in all the circles will be completed and winners will be announced by January 15. “We hope to sign contracts with successful bidders by January 25,” sources said. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
