RCom initiates event for to boost brand image 27 Jun, 2008, 2255 hrs IST, PTI LUCKNOW: Anil Ambani group company Reliance Communications on Friday kick-started an event giving platform to record seekers, in an attempt to strengthen company's brand identity in the region. Accordingly, a person would be able to talk continuously for 60 hours and register his name in the Limca Book of Records. Professional memory trainer Pawan Srivastava, holding four records in Limca Book , is participating in the event, CEO Reliance Communications, UP East, Saleem Haq told reporters here. Srivastava had entered the Guiness book of world records for dibbling a basketball continuously for 56 hours and 26 minutes. Besides, the other topics which would form the main theme of the talk show include current issues, how to make life better, work capacity improvement, solutions to problems etc. "Its a rare and unique opportunity to strengthen the brand identity," said Haq. The nature of the event is also synchronous to the company's current campaign "Aseemit Batein" (Unlimited talk), he said adding that it would also be a test of voice clarity, network and connectivity. Observers of Limca Book of Records has been appointed to oversee the affairs at the event, Haq added.

iPhone at just over Rs 8,000? Well, may not be 28 Jun, 2008, 1215 hrs IST BANGALORE: Vodafone and Airtel started pre-registering customers for the iPhone 3G this week, and ever since, offices and blogs have been abuzz with discussions on what Apple’s much-awaited product will be priced at. Many think it will be just a shade over Rs 8,000 — the rupee equivalent of the price in the US, which is $199. Now, that’s a fantastic price for the 8GB product, and will certainly have every competitor worried. Nokia’s 8GB N95 smartphone , for instance, is priced at well over Rs 25,000, and its new N96 is expected to come at over Rs 36,000. But we think the iPhone, expected to hit the Indian market in September, will be priced substantially higher than Rs 8,000. The $199 price is a hugely subsidised one, subsidised by the US operator AT&T. Market researcher iSuppli has just estimated that mobile phone service providers are subsidising each handset to the extent of $300. Some other analysts think the subsidy is higher at $350 per unit. In other words, the actual price that AT&T pays to Apple for each iPhone unit is $499, going by the iSuppli estimate. Vodafone and Airtel are unwilling to talk about the price they will offer the iPhone at, but Bharti Airtel CEO Manoj Kohli told TOI there is no question of subsidising the handset in India. “US operators are able to subsidise handsets because they can make up for that with their call charges. They charge rates like 25 cents a minute. In India, the charge is 1.5 to 2 cents a minute,” Kohli said. In the absence of a subsidy then, the handset could be priced at $499 or a little over Rs 21,000 (governmental levies on mobile phones in India are marginal). Unless Apple chooses to offer the iPhone at lower margins to countries like India. iSuppli estimates it costs Apple just $173 to produce the latest version (excluding the cost of software development, shipping, distribution, packaging and accessories included with each iPhone). So it enjoys a huge margin on the product. We’ll have to see if Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs is willing to sacrifice some of that. But any which way, even at a price of Rs 21,000, the iPhone looks certain to sizzle the handset market.

And you are not authorised to post anyone's else mobile number on the forum to get the details. Thats why the mobile number which you had mentioned has been removed from your post. Just imagine if somebody post your mobile number on a dozen of forums available on the net and ask for your Name and Address. And about this topic we are already discussing in another thread. So please search the forum before posting a new thread my dear friend. For now we are closing this thread as you won't get help for this kind of stuff at this forum. Regards.

^^^ Yes my dear friends, this phone is really going to be hit as soon as it is available throughout all the circles. @Dr. Arun My dear friend, this handset has a feature of voice recording, but I'm still not sure whether it is unlimited or not. If the voice recording going to be saved in expanded memory then surely it will be unlimited recording and if the recorded conversation has the option to be saved int he phone memory then it could not be unlimited. But still I think that it supports unlimited voice recording. Lets see who will be the first user of this handset on the forum. So that we can get some more clear picture. Regards.

You can't imagine this. Fromt the last 2 months I'm using Hathway without any problems at all. Not a single disconnection, no technical problem, doesn't even needed to call CC of hathway for any reason. The download speed too is good according to the plan. All the above users had the pathetic experience with Hathway. But believe me, I'm using Hathway without any hassles fromt the last two months. I think Hathway has worked on the issues which they were facing in the past. Now they are much better then before. Regards. -

EA Mobile to launch 15 mobile games in India 28 Jun, 2008, 0000 hrs IST PUNE: India is booming as a market for gaming, the testimony being that it has caught the fancy of the mobile game developer EA Mobile, a part of the world’s largest game developer Electronic Arts. EA Mobile would launch 15 of its hit mobile games in India next month in a tie up with Airtel and Vodafone. It will also start developing games for the Indian market and is aggressively working to acquire some of the Bollywood, and Indian cricketer franchise, EA Mobile Asia general manager Mike McCabe told the ET. This is the first time EA Mobile will launch games in India and has been testing the Indian market for the past couple of years, since it acquired the mobile game developer Jamdat. “India is a very attractive market for us from the mobile gaming perspective. We had a team of 60 people in Hyderabad, after the acquisition of Jamdat. We have now scaled it up to 250, making India our largest centre in India. We will now be aggressive in the Indian market. We waited for a while mainly because people had challenges in connecting to the GPRS network, which has now improved dramatically thanks to huge amount of work by service providers. The other challenge for us was that the content aspirations of consumers were very focused on cricket and nothing else excited them. But now the Indian consumers are flexible and interested in a broader range of content. This will help us to open up the market and enable us to bring some of our international franchise,” Mr McCabe said.
