Today marks the global launch of the Nokia N-Gage mobile games service with more games, additional compatible devices (Yipeee!), and an expanded online offering. Millions of Nokia device owners can now find, try and buy high-quality made-for-mobile games directly from their mobile device. Players can also connect with one another through the N-Gage Arena community. They can meet friends, find others to play multiplayer games, discuss topics on the message boards and via live chat, and participate in tournaments and hosted events. "With N-Gage we're offering a seamless experience for people around the world to try and buy games that are engaging, accessible and have wide appeal," said Jaakko Kaidesoja, vice president of games, Nokia. "We're very excited to get this into the hands of our customers, because with them we will shape the future of mobile gaming." The N-Gage platform has exclusive titles that are among the most ambitious and graphically rich mobile games ever produced. From strategy and sport to arcade and action, games of all genres are being developed for N-Gage by leading games publishers. The first set of games include: EA SPORTS FIFA 08 by EA Mobile; Brain Challenge and Asphalt 3: Street Rules by Gameloft; World Series of Poker Pro Challenge by Glu Mobile; and Hooked On: Creatures of the Deep and System Rush: Evolution by Nokia Publishing. These games will be followed closely by Tetris and The Sims 2 Pets by EA Mobile; Block Breaker Deluxe and Dogz by Gameloft; and Snakes Subsonic, Space Impact: Kappa Base and Mile High Pinball by Nokia Publishing. With the N-Gage application on their device, people can create a Friends List, send and receive private messages, and take part in instant messaging style chat. As we never knows about any second hand used stuff, what problem can might be exist in the near future with that. So it will be better to go for a new board. And after installing the new board your phone's performance will be as good as a new handset. Regards.

But yours seems to be a permanent problem and this should be solved at the earliest. RealNetworks, BSNL Tie Up RealNetworks, the digital entertainment services company, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), will provide the first-ever deployment of emoticonSMS services in India for BSNL's 39 million subscribers later this year. Once a subscriber signs up for the service, emoticonSMS automatically converts his or her SMS text messages into SMS emoticons using keyword recognition technology. Subscribers can choose from 4,000 emoticons in 500 themes, making it simple to create unique and personalized messages for each of their contacts, every time. "Through its global client roster, Real has clearly demonstrated its ability to serve our customer base with new and cutting edge features," said a senior BSNL official. "Delivering a premium experience to our subscribers has always been our primary goal, and working with Real to deliver emoticonSMS helps us continue providing the latest in personalization services while realizing benefits to our bottom line." Real's services are currently available through 89 different carriers in 44 countries worldwide, making them available to 800.3 million subscribers. Real offers wireless providers a comprehensive selection of mobile services including Music on Demand, Games, Video, Personalization features (such as Ringtones, RBTs and Multimedia Ringback Services) as well as messaging services. "emoticonSMS is another value-added service offered by Real that makes traditional SMS more engaging and fun," said Jay Kim, vice president, APAC & Music Business, RealNetworks. "This agreement helps position BSNL as a market leader for value-added services in India."
  21. Fly Launches The 'Hummer' Fly, the flagship brand of Meridian Mobile, today launched its most awaited phone, the Hummer. For this purpose, French handset maker ModeLabs has carried over GM's (General Motors) Hummer license to the mobile phone. This design has been styled after the Hummer car and comes in three colors — Yellow, Military camouflage and Black. Also present for the occasion was Malaika Arora Khan, who is the brand ambassador of Fly Phones. "When I came to know about the phone first, my first impression was that the phone is obviously for the males. Having used it, however, I feel quite differently now," she said. The Hummer comes with a 262K color LCD with touch screen, a 2MP camera, 256MB MicroSD card bundled, FM radio and MP3 player. The phone is just one amongst 15 more to be launched in the next quarter itself, as informed by CEO, Rajiv Khanna. "We have plans to get really aggressive in the market, but as of now the strategy calls for streamlining the business channels before we can start work on branding," he said. The phone will cost Rs. 10,000 in the market and is customized with Hummer paint color.

Motorola Smart Rider Coming in June At the "CTIA Wireless 2008" in Las Vegas, Motorola has announced its "Smart Rider" phone, an in-vehicle phone featuring GPS navigation, interactive voice activation, and Bluetooth. The "Smart Rider", which uses GSM technology, is claimed to offer various GPS services including turn-by-turn navigation and voice-guided driving instructions; precise on-screen directions and detailed maps on a 2.8-inches high-resolution color display; real-time traffic reports and automatic re-routing; and enabling of location-based services (LBS) and fleet management applications. With Bluetooth technology, users can move freely between offices, homes, and their vehicles -- with active calls, contacts, and other personal data automatically getting transferred from their handsets to the in-vehicle device. The device also allows multiple user profiles for secured access to personalized phone-book settings for up to three drivers. Meanwhile, interactive voice activation, built-in microphone, and speaker phone ensure hassle-free driving, the company said. Golan Haver, business unit manager for Motorola Car Phones, said at the launch that the "Smart Rider" re-defines what communication on-the-go is all about, and the main focus is placed on transforming the user experience. The Motorola "Smart Rider" is expected to ship worldwide in June this year. There is no word on pricing of the phone yet.

Four New Cheap Handsets from Nokia At the "Growing Together 2008" conference held in Johannesburg, Nokia unveiled four low-priced handsets targeted at replacement buyers (consumers seeking to replace their current mobile phones with newer models) in emerging markets. The four new handsets, expected to be priced between Euro 50 and Euro 90 include: the Nokia 5000 with a 1.3 mega pixels camera, which is claimed to be Nokia's first camera phone at this price point; Nokia 2680 Slide; Nokia 7070 Prism; and Nokia 1680 Classic. The Nokia 5000 sports a 1.3 mega pixels camera, high-resolution QVGA display, and FM radio with recording functionality and MP3 ring tones. For professionals and others who're always on the go, the handset supports email and other benefits including Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, Bluetooth, and GPRS connectivity. It is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2008 for around Euro 90. The Nokia 2680 is an entry-level slim slider camera phone that promises ease of use and entertainment. Which includes an FM radio with recording capability and MP3 ring tones and an expanded phone book among others. Expected to be priced at Euro 75, this phone will begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008. Next up is a low-priced handset from the Prism series. The Nokia 7070 Prism features a new folding design with the geometric patterns and external light effects that are the staples of the series. The new Prism offers personalized content including themes and wallpapers, and MP3-grade ring tones. It packs a voice recorder and hands-free speaker. Nokia 7070 Prism is expected to begin shipping in the third quarter of 2008 for a price of Euro 50. The last of the newbies, the Nokia 1680 Classic is touted as Nokia's most affordable camera phone till date. Expected to be priced at Euro 50, the Nokia 1680 Classic offers essential mobile phone functionality along with the added benefit of a basic digital VGA camera. It features video recording and one-touch access for photos and videos. Being a basic phone, it offers phone-sharing functionality and easy access to email. The phone is expected to begin shipping in the second quarter of 2008.
