  1. Reliance CDMA Network Upgrade To 4G LTE

Did you recharge online by going to the Top Up section and add Re. 1 and paid the amount? Edit: It turns out that if I put Re. 1 in the box and try to "Continue", I get the same page again along with the list of Vouchers starting at Rs. 10. So, this does not work for me - tried two browsers.
  2. Smartphones that will work on Reliance 4G

Very interesting times ahead. RCOM 4G falls back to 3G/2G, which means you can use practically any GSM phone. The XT1080 does not have the 850 MHz LTE band in the official specs, so it is unlikely to be able to latch on to 4G, but it should work fine in 3G mode. Does RCOM have 900Mhz 3G license, BTW?
  3. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

I tried that option on Friday at Reliance store. There was no signal. I don't have such a handset with me, so I can't try again. I have tried CDMA and CDMA auto PRL as well. Cannot still latch on to the network.
  4. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

I find it strange that some members in Pune are still getting CDMA network connectivity, whereas others like me, are not able to connect to the network at all since last 2-3 days. Is it that RG sim cards are able to latch on to the network, whereas RECRU sims are not getting any connection?
  5. Reliance CDMA Network Upgrade To 4G LTE

I checked with the store at Viman Nagar, Pune a few minutes ago. They took down details of my new SIM and my CDMA phone number and said they would try to request the upgrade from back end. They are also tired of answering the same questions repeatedly throughout the day - all thanks to the mismanagement from RCOM. CDMA will shutdown on 31st is the only firm statement that they mentioned. They are not sure if it will be enabled again temporarily, but to one customer they said wait till tomorrow morning. In my case I have not been able to send the upgrade message so far. Hoping that the back end upgrade works in 2-3 days time.
  6. Reliance CDMA Network Upgrade To 4G LTE

Aneesh: Network seems to be down still. I inserted my 4G RCOM in LG Vu2 to see what networks it can see. Note that this SIM is not activated. In 3G/2G auto mode I see many networks. In LTE, I see the Loop network. Phone supports 850Mhz LTE.
  7. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

Can someone from Maharashtra or Mumbai circle please post here or via PM as soon as their CDMA service is restored? I was told by the store guys that the network will be restored by afternoon. I do not have a handset with me and need to run to the store as soon as the network is back so that I can send the upgrade SMS.
  8. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

Got an opportunity to visit Reliance store in Kharadi, Pune today. I walked in with my SIM card (CDMA) which I was using earlier with my Tata Photon Max unlocked dongle. There were around 5-7 more customers in there - with pretty much frustrated looks. A few of them had some square shaped dongles and were complaining that there is no network and we are unable to reach the customer care as well. So, I asked one of the boys there for the upgrade and he was eager to hand over a new SIM to me. Rs. 25 is what he asked for. I did not want to argue much about this though I know Reliance website states I should be paying only Re. 1. He took my CDMA SIM and inserted in a spare phone and there was no network. There was one employee of Reliance there as well, who was asking if there was any issue of signal and he typed the numbers of some of us and sent it to some Reliance team via WhatsApp as sample numbers which were not working. He said, this is a transition phase and we are working to sort things out. The shop fellows said that the network will be back by second half today, but I personally cannot rely on that. To me, it appears that this was intentional step from Reliance to scare people to port out immediately. I also heard some dates that the new SIM will be activated around 3 or 5 June and the old one would stop working on 31 May. About 4G, the lady stated 15 July is when it would start, but again, take that with a pinch of salt. So, all in all, I am pretty excited to have purchased my first 4G SIM ever (I do have a Verizon 4G SIM which came free with my Droid Maxx, but I did not pay for it). My dad is in Thane district and his CDMA stopped working completely (no signal) since yesterday. He will be visiting a store nearby to explore the upgrade option
  9. Reliance CDMA Network Upgrade To 4G LTE

Congratulations. Hope you are able to post regular updates now
  10. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

Reliance is in a financial mess. I won't be surprised if RCOM sells all it's assets and closes down completely. http://m.thehindu.com/business/Industry/the-biggestever-fire-sale-of-indian-corporate-assets-has-begun-to-tide-over-bad-loans-crisis/article8573163.ece
  11. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

Yes. I asked my dad and he confirmed it is working now. Not sure how long it will continue.
  12. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

South Mumbai - Since yesterday, data has stopped working. Calls are fine. Not sure what is the next step. How much is the charge in Mumbai for new 4G SIM?
  13. I am not looking for an invite, but just looking for information on network coverage of Jio in Yerwada, Pune. Earlier there was an app which would show coverage. Is that functionality gone now? Is coverage information available with anyone or published somewhere? I have tried OpenSignal's maps and it looks like coverage is very poor in Pune areas - so I don't think that data is accurate.
  14. Reliance CDMA Shutting down

I agree that nothing is going to change drastically except if CDMA shuts down, I might need to buy a new handset for my dad in Mumbai or he needs to port out to some other provider. Secondly, my EC315 is going to be useless in Pune because I will no longer get the ₹149 - 10GB plan. Hence in any way I see it is just a cost increase.
  15. Motorola Droid Razr M (Global)

For issue related to roaming, the modem/ radio version could be a cause. Try down/upgrading the modem and test again.
  16. Greetings! There have been posts in various threads which indicate that several users took Kitkat update on their Motorola phones (mainly Verizon devices) and 1x data has stopped working on Reliance CDMA. Suggestions such as changing the RUIM SIM card and trying a new SIM are workarounds and have already been made in other threads. I can consolidate a list of phones/ users affected by this upgrade and send it to my contacts in Motorola, who might be able to help resolve this issue from software perspective. So, if you have an issue with Reliance CDMA data, then please write in this thread if you can abide by the following: You have to be willing to install bug2go or some other debugging tool and send the bug report to Motorola if asked for. You have to be willing to participate in the troubleshooting exercise with Motorola, if required. I cannot promise anything at this stage, since this looks like a carrier specific issue. However, something in Kitkat has broken the functionality and that means Motorola can resolve the issue. It goes without saying, that for this to be prioritized, we have to have a large number of affected users. Please include following details: Carrier: Reliance CDMA (always) Version of OS: 4.4/4.4.2 Model: SIM: Kitkat upgrade method: OTA/ update by file using HoM script Issue: I will start with my dad's phone Carrier: Reliance CDMA (always) Version of OS: 4.4.2 Model: XT926 SIM: Normal SIM cut to mini form factor Kitkat upgrade method: update by file using HoM script Issue: 1x data worked fine on 4.1.2. After upgrading to 4.4.2, data stopped working.
  17. I have had the same experience in Pune. The smartfren dashboard does not say which type of tower it has connected (Rev A or B ). It might be possible to flash another dashboard, but I have not ventured down that path. As I see Reliance coverage is pathetic and the speeds are close to 200 kbps outside my house. Yes, cheap 3G, but pretty much useless for me. I have tested this at my home in Mumbai as well as Pune.
  18. Here is my suggestion. 1. Visit Reliance and get a new SIM (RECRU06 series). This would probably be the same as you already had. Damages: Rs. 50. You have to submit the old SIM and wait for activation. 2. After 4-6 hours, try to activate the SIM with *228. If it connects to the Reliance IVR and asks you to punch in the number, do so. 3. It is likely that activation will fail. 4. So lodge a complain and tell them I am unable to activate. 5. Someone will call back (maybe next day) and help you activate. 6. Data will start working automatically once phone is activated. Edit: Noticed that you have a Verizon phone. So, you may not be able to perform step 2 without root access. This is a long process, but if you have no better options, there is not much harm in trying. Edit: On second thoughts, I think I can gather some more data and pass on to my contact at Motorola. I had discussed the issue of data connectivity after OTA upgrades with him earlier. Now I have a case. You can write back to me only if: 1. Your phone is officially having CDMA band support (out of the box) 2. Phone is as it comes from the store (not rooted or bootloader unlocked by you after receiving it) Hello Mr Vakharia, I have Verizon Moto E in factory condition. Untouched. On LP 5.1. Any news for it ? Not tracking Moto E at all. Sorry.
  19. CDMA REV B handsets?

^ True, even sometimes I get rev.b signals but the speeds are of rev.a only. I havent found any reason for that. I have had the same experience as well. Now-a-days, I use the Reliance SIM in a EC315 dongle. I cannot see if it is Rev.A or Rev.B on that. The maximum speed i have see in around 1 Mbps on the terrace.
  20. There are conflicting answers to this. So, there is a certain risk you are taking while upgrading. I have moved back to GSM - CDMA was just used for testing on this phone. Now, I use CDMA with a dongle.
  21. Please update the list on page 1. Lot of members have posted useful comments.
  22. ^^That is a nice link you have shared. I had the same problem when I wanted to switch back to GSM (after getting everything working with my Reliance CDMA). This was for the Droid Maxx, though. I tried everything I could, but the phone simply would not work in GSM mode. I had to do a radio flash (downgrading to 4.4 radio) on my Droid Maxx. Had I known about the three variables, I could probably avoid the radio flash and save the Reliance OTA settings. Data stopped working because I wiped out the modem settings.
  23. HiFirstly check if your area served is having Rev B or not, which place city are you from, which plan did you opt & how much did it cost you... Sent from my HTC One dual sim using Tapatalk How can we check that. I am from Pune - Mahalunge area. I don't think there is a simple way to check this. Couple of suggestions: 1. If you have a handset which supports Rev.B (there is another thread on the forum - search for it) and if you have a Reliance pre-post paid connection with OMH SIM card, you can see if it connects to Rev.B tower or not. 2. Visit the Reliance center in that area and ask them. They can probably show a demo to you with speeds above 3.1 Mbps (which would confirm Rev. .
  24. I am collecting data on this problem. So, the upgrade does overwrite 'something' and Reliance support is able to re-provision your phone remotely. At least that is what I can learn from my personal experience and from what SmartSamrat has reported. If there is someone who is using any other CDMA provider besides Reliance (e.g. Tata) and has faced data issues after upgrade, then please share more details here. I want to understand if this is a Reliance specific issue or not.
  25. I don't have a Moto E, but typically you will get prompted to install every time you reboot the phone (once the download is complete). So, there is a chance you would accidentally hit "Install" or OK and the update will get installed. You can freeze some apps which prevent this from happening, but for that you need root access.
