  1. Mods: Please merge this with any appropriate thread - I could not find this information on RIMWeb. By default, on Motorola Verizon phones (such as Droid Maxx) cannot dial *228. You will get some "unrecognized SIM" error. If you have a rooted phone, then you can simply do this. 1. Download terminal emulator app from playstore 2. Once you have that installed, open it and the run the following command on the mobile itself. su pm disable-user com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice exit Now, you should be able to dial out *228. This does not guarantee that the phone will be activated on Reliance. If you get a message :unable to activate, then the next step is to call the customer care and lodge a complain. They will change settings on their end, which allow the activation (I am stating this based on personal experience).
  2. Here is my suggestion. 1. Visit Reliance and get a new SIM (RECRU06 series). This would probably be the same as you already had. Damages: Rs. 50. You have to submit the old SIM and wait for activation. 2. After 4-6 hours, try to activate the SIM with *228. If it connects to the Reliance IVR and asks you to punch in the number, do so. 3. It is likely that activation will fail. 4. So lodge a complain and tell them I am unable to activate. 5. Someone will call back (maybe next day) and help you activate. 6. Data will start working automatically once phone is activated. Edit: Noticed that you have a Verizon phone. So, you may not be able to perform step 2 without root access. This is a long process, but if you have no better options, there is not much harm in trying. Edit: On second thoughts, I think I can gather some more data and pass on to my contact at Motorola. I had discussed the issue of data connectivity after OTA upgrades with him earlier. Now I have a case. You can write back to me only if: 1. Your phone is officially having CDMA band support (out of the box) 2. Phone is as it comes from the store (not rooted or bootloader unlocked by you after receiving it)
  3. Enable dialing of *228 on Motorola Verizon phones

This is the Motorola sub-forum. I suggest you post this under 'Samsung' sub-forum.
  4. Yes. I can see that now. Thanks. However, why is validty only 28 days and not 30 days? What happens on the 29th and 30th of the month if you use data or voice? Do they deduct from main balance? My MN149 plan has validity of 30 days. hey bro, Imagine in this way, you recharge a pack for 10 days then you dont ask the company what happens for usage from 11th to 30th day.. Right? Similarly this is a 28days pack (we were so used to the monthly packs of 30 days validity) so on 29th and 30th day if you dont recharge any other pack your balance will be debited for usage. So that is the catch here. If i put a reminder or automatically recharge on first of every month, I would easily forget that on 29th of the month, I am using data at much higher rates.
  5. I have seen several dashboards for Ec315. For example Smartfren allows SMS to be sent. The Huawei one does not.

  7. I am also unable to get Windows 7 to make this device available on a COM port. I don't know what you mean by "start any updater exe". Can you please provide some more information? Edit: Found some interesting information here: http://www.kalp.us/download.html Has anyone used these? What happens if you change dashboard but you are already unlocked? I suspect that my dongle does not have Rev.B enabled. Dongle itself is unlocked but there is no way to figure out if it is connecting to Rev.A or Rev.B tower.
  8. I have taken this plan yesterday. Will check if it is really 10GB. Ha Ha .... Today the rcom.co.in site is showing 30GB data on recharge with Rs.149 in Maharashtra Circle. I think they've lost it. Nice. Unfortunately my SIM is inside a dongle now and I don't have a spare CDMA handset to activate this via SMS. If I use the online portal, then I do not see 30GB package there. In fact checking for mobile data balance is also a problem since I cannot send SMS via dongle.
  9. I could not see unlimited Internet plan for prepaid users for Maharashtra circle. Check rcom.co.in once for your circle.
  10. I have taken this plan yesterday. Will check if it is really 10GB.
  11. I cannot see 10GB option in your case.
  12. While trying to recharge data pack (mobile Internet) on my pre-paid Reliance CDMA, I have noticed something strange. Paying Rs. 149 gives me 10 GB, but paying Rs. 246 gives me only 4 GB. Is that a typo? Is someone using these plans?
  13. RUIM based EVDO USB Data Modem

I am using EC315 Tata Photon Max with WiFi with my normal Reliance CDMA prepaid SIM. Looks like this does not connect to EVDO Rev.B at all.
  14. I tried the username net and password net on my unlocked dongle. It does not seem to connect. If I change it to the MDN (mobile number) and also with the same as the password, it connects immediately. So, net/ net does not work for me. I am using a prepaid normal SIM and accessing mobile internet.
  15. Your Latest Hardware Purchase

Latest hardware purchase for me is Tata Photon Max with WiFi (unlocked).
  16. Can someone recommend a good crc9 antenna? Signal strength is very poor at my location
  17. Got 3.5 Mbps at Eon, Kharadi yesterday on Droid Maxx. This was the highest ever anywhere for me
  18. I got an unlocked EC315 (Tata photon max with WiFi). How do I change from Huawei dashboard to something else (which allows me to send SMS)? Also, can someone recommend a nice antenna?
  19. Is there someone who has subscribed to this? I wonder if they are really seeing any improvement in the indoor signal strength due to the lower frequency. Any personal experiences from the folks in Kolkata?
  20. Enable dialing of *228 on Motorola Verizon phones

Can't you just activate it on some other CDMA handset and insert the SIM into the Moto handset once fully activated? I guess activation usually fails on most imported phones. Well, in my case, I did not have an option. I don't have anyone near my residence or at office who has a CDMA phone. This shows CDMA is dying its death in India.
  21. I am looking for a dongle to use with my Reliance CDMA SIM (which has got data working fine on my mobile) Requirements are simple and just like everyone else. This will be my backup Internet connection. I plan to use TP Link router (e.g. 3020) which will create another WiFi network at home. The dongle could be EC306 - I have read that it supports external antenna, but the ebay seller states that as soon as the device is unlocked the external antenna support is also gone. So, the device that he is selling (less than Rs. 1000), though unlocked, will not support external antenna. I also understand that there is no proper antenna socket that is exposed by EC306, which means, we need to remove the plastic cover and use a blade to remove bits of the internal antenna first. Has anyone in India done this? Some pictures will be fine. Device has to support EVDO Rev. B (Reliance SIM). I will have to place it in the balcony since signal strength is quite low in the house.
  22. I am curious what is the final status on unlocking of EC315, which is coming from Tata (Photon Max WiFi). Also, what is equivalent product from Tata for EC306? Is it Tata Photon +? If yes, is it unlockable? and does it support EVDO Rev.B?
  23. Enable dialing of *228 on Motorola Verizon phones

Hi, You should put your new SIM in. Then after the above described 'hack', you would be able to dial. You will likely get a message stating "unable to activate". Head over to the online chat customer care and complain that after putting new SIM and dialing *228 I get "unable to activate". They will give you a complain reference number. Wait for one day. You should get a call on your alternate number soon.
  24. Great thread. As far as I know there is no VU II Plus. There is Vu II F200, which my wife uses.
  25. I am using the App called Network Signal Info. It clearly shows Rev.A, Rev.B or 1xRTT
