Reliance EVDO Rev B. Multicarrier - Reliance Pro 3
vakharia replied to HetalDP's topic in Data services
I am now on EVDO Rev.B. I am getting max 1 Mbps. The upload speeds are around 1.5 Mbps. I am curious to note that upload speeds are consistently higher than download speeds. -
Motorola Droid 4.4.4 update locks cdma ruim support, Do Not update.

So, with the new SIM card, I had issues with activation. Lodged a complain yesterday. Today, I got a call form some Mumbai office and they asked to try activation again while keeping the call on - on my other number. The activation went through. I then tested data after reboot and it worked fine as well. EVDO did not work, so I sent a message for that and tried again, and EVDO started working. Then I performed the changes for EVDO Rev.B, though that has not resulted in any improvements. I am still testing. Very interesting is that my account balance was Rs. 300 yesterday and today it is zero. I have only done some speed tests this morning and send service related messages. What would be wrong? -
Can you do a small test for me. Download this app from the playstore and check if you can see MCC and MNC information: Network Signal Info Post back with your observations.

Motorola Phones: Reliance CDMA Data Issue On Android 4.4 Kitkat
vakharia replied to vakharia's topic in Motorola
Earlier, I mentioned that I had done *228 on my Droid Maxx. However, I realized that this was not true. When I took the connection last year, I had to visit the gallery and get the SIM activated on another phone (owned by the gallery owner). The reason which I now remember was that on my Droid Maxx, if I would press *228 and then 'dial', it would throw out an error about unrecognized SIM. Yesterday, I was trying to do *228 again on this connection on my Droid Maxx and noticed that I get this error. This is despite the phone working normally for voice calls (and SMS - if I remove the +91 in front of the number). So, there is a hack available where we can disable the app which throws out that warning. I froze that app and tried again. This time, I was able to do *228. I was then able to hear the message "cannot be activated" or something similar. I also tried 59059, which tells me to contact customer care. So, in short, I did not do *228 on this handset. Maybe that is why my PRL is sometimes unknown. How do I start all over again with this connection?- 64 replies

On my Droid Maxx, I was unable to send message when I selected a name from the contacts. After reading this thread, I realized that the numbers are starting with +91. I edited one contact (my other number) and tried sending it. It works. So, is it that Reliance does not like +91 on Motorola/ Verizon phones? The SMSC setting (in the hidden network options) is blank. I cannot refresh it nor update it.

Motorola Droid 4.4.4 update locks cdma ruim support, Do Not update.

Last night I spend several hours reading up and trying many things. The first thing I wanted to get out of the way was to get the APN set up properly. So, I edited the apn-conf.xml file under the /system/etc folder and put additional entries for Reliance. The MCC and MNC codes that I have from the customer care are already in place (if I look at the Settings --> About --> Status page). However, I still put the same values in the APN xml file. I tried with the following combinations rconnect with username, password as net, net rconnect with username, password as 0xxxxxxxxxx, 0xxxxxxxxxx (which is actually 0 and then my mobile number) rconnect with username, password as xxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxxx (which is actually my mobile number) I also tried apn= netconnect instead of rconnect and tried the above. I also put authtype as 0 and then as 1 There is still no success. Can someone share their APN settings with me? -

Great! What is the "Set preferred network type" value? Unfortunately your screenshot does not capture that part? Is it "CDMA (auto prl)? -
This is fantastic work! I think you are the first on the Internet to have done this. Kudos! BTW: I am also in Pune.

Motorola Phones: Reliance CDMA Data Issue On Android 4.4 Kitkat
vakharia replied to vakharia's topic in Motorola
Since this morning, I applied all four OTA's and moved from 4.4 (19.xx) to 24.13.2). After the first two updates, I even tried the trick of swapping my Vodafone SIM with the Reliance CDMA SIM hoping to get success like some of the others on the forum. I enabled data while on Vodafone, waited for the connection and then removed the SIM an quickly put in the Reliance SIM. This process did not help in any way. The network is there and I can make calls, but data does not connect. I also tried various network settings (CDMA auto prl, LTE/CDMA/ CDMA only/ etc.) after each update. None of this made any difference. I have not heard of Reliance giving out a nano SIM from the gallery. So, I have mini SIM - cut to nano and it is of RECRU06 range. About handset, I had done *228 on the same handset. Should I try that again?- 64 replies

Motorola Droid 4.4.4 update locks cdma ruim support, Do Not update.
vakharia replied to KESHAV_IS's topic in Motorola
You can use OpenSignal app from the play store. It clearly shows you EvDO Rev.A while connected to Reliance. BTW: Did you activate the SIM via *228 directly on the phone? I am in Pune too. Let's sync up. -
Please provide more information. Is there a product available locally and with support? Or is this just an imported item? Also, does it just help in voice calls or does it also increase data speed?

While I was at the Reliance Store today to enquire about my phone's data issue, I asked for the Pro3 data card. I was surprised to know that the data card is for Rs. 1800. The same is available at half the price on Reliance online store http://shop.rcom.co.in/data-card If you buy the data card online, then the Reliance store guys will not support in any way (the paperwork is also to be managed by us). If you buy it through them, then they will give you their own version of the form which you can then fill up and submit to them. -
For my Droid Maxx, I have sent SMS "HSD" to 55444 on Wednesday night. Data itself (1x included) is not working on my phone (Android 4.4). Today I visited the Reliance store to check the situation. The request is still under process as per their system information.

Motorola Phones: Reliance CDMA Data Issue On Android 4.4 Kitkat
vakharia replied to vakharia's topic in Motorola
Thanks for writing. I took a look at the plastic in which the SIM came (I have still preserved it). There is a diamond (half black - half white). So, based on what you have mentioned, it is OMH SIM. Secondly about the firmware update, there are other threads on the forum where people with 4.4.2 also have got no luck with data on Reliance CDMA. I am just holding back on upgrade to 4.4.2 - and would probably move directly to 5.1.1 when it comes out.- 64 replies

Motorola Phones: Reliance CDMA Data Issue On Android 4.4 Kitkat
vakharia replied to vakharia's topic in Motorola
I posted my experience from yesterday (in trying to get data working on Reliance CDMA) here: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/34211-reliance-evdo-rev-b-multicarrier-reliance-pro-3/?p=320040 Phone: Droid Maxx OS: Android 4.4 I had never used data on this connection - it is almost one year old connection. The SIM was in my cupboard for almost a year and incoming was still working when I put that into the phone. There is no issue with the calls (now outgoing is also fine since i recharged in the night). I also bought a 3 day package for 100 MB (Rs. 16) and also send an SMS for activating EVDO. This morning, I made a call to the customer care. After a long wait, someone came on call. The person said I have to visit the gallery and get 'OMH installed'. He was not able to tell me if this is another SIM card or just some settings. I asked him, but he did not know. I tried putting the same SIM in our LG Optimus Vu2, which is also supporting LTE/ CDMA bands. It does not connect to the network at all. Maybe Reliance does not permit us to change handsets without visiting the gallery?- 64 replies

Reliance EVDO Rev B. Multicarrier - Reliance Pro 3
vakharia replied to HetalDP's topic in Data services
Update: I found that my Reliance number was still active, but there was zero balance. Incoming was working fine. So, I charged for Rs. 300. Then I activated a data package for 100 MB (3 days) by sending an SMS: ACT MN16 to 53739 There was still no data working on Droid Maxx. Then I sent another message: HSD to 55444 to activate data. Still there is no sign of data working at all. I have RECRUC06xxxx SIM card (cut to nano). -
Reliance EVDO Rev B. Multicarrier - Reliance Pro 3
vakharia replied to HetalDP's topic in Data services
Last month, I had taken a demo on the Pro3 product from Reliance at my house. I had got a poor signal and the speed was 2 Mbps. This is still quite good. The sales person told me I had to pay Rs. 1600 for the dongle and Rs. 999/ month for unlimited data. Location: Yerwada, Pune Now, I am not keen on getting this dongle, since that hardware is of no use if I decide to stop using Reliance in future. I already have a SIM that I purchased last year (which I had cut to nano to test with my Droid Maxx - which support Rev A only.) This was a pre-paid connection. Questions: I would like to try out data on this SIM/ connection 1. How do I enable data in Reliance CDMA? Is there some message? 2. I am not sure if the SIM is deactivated or not. Will insert it today in the phone and check. If it is deactivated, how can I reactivate it? Can I just recharge? Or do I have to go to Reliance office? 3. If I go for the ZTE dongle, and buy a compatible TPLink router, I would like to use OpenVPN for privacy reasons. How do I do that? 4. How do I select the plan (e.g. 5GB day + 5GB night plan). -

This is my third time with ShopandShip. This time they got item delivered to their address on 14 Feburary. I got that item to my residence in Pune today - 09 March. Very slow. Item cost was around Rs. 1300, shipping was around Rs. 700 and customs was Rs. 200. -

Updated my dad's XT926 to Blisspop (Lollipop 5.0.2) over the weekend. Previously it was completely stock and running 4.4.2. Took quite some time to get through the full process - but Blisspop is wonderful. I think now Android's animations are as smooth as Apple's.- 64 replies

My dad's XT926 now works with data. He is using 4.4.2 and got a new Reliance CDMA SIM card recently. 1x works fine, though he does not use it much. I have to help him find out what data plan options are available for minimal usage.- 64 replies
