  1. Which is this phone - "Droid Maxx Turbo"?
  2. My dad's Reliance data is also not working and he is unable to find the new series SIM card in Mumbai. I guess I will install CM11 to solve this. On 2nd October, I upgraded his phone to 4.4.2 (stock). Last week, he was unable to see the the home wifi network, though he was able to see the neighbour's wifi network. We tried all known solutions (seems 4.4.2 brings in wifi issues on this phone). Then he did a factory reset and the problem was still there. After one day, the wifi started working again.
  3. Mobile Chargers

The best micro-USB charger that I have used in the last 5 years is the one that came with my Blackberry Playbook. It is a 2A output charger. Photograph here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-GENUINE-BLACKBERRY-PLAYBOOK-HIGH-CAPACITY-MAINS-WALL-TRAVEL-CHARGER-2-Amp-/310894798550?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item4862c626d6 A typical 2000 mAh battery is charged in around 1.5 hours.
  4. Hi, After getting a Droid Maxx, I popped in an Idea SIM and realized that it does not allow voice calls. That SIM was actually cut from a normal SIM. I tried the global mode and that has no option to select the network. So I tried the other mode (LTE/ GSM) and that showed me Vodafone and Idea, but nothing worked. Then I manually put APN and data started working. I tried a Vodafone nano SIM (again cut from normal) and that one got data working, but no voice calls, though network bars showed up fine. I thought the cut SIMs are an issue, so I got a brand new Idea nano SIM and popped that inside the phone. That one does not even allow data now. The phone just states No service. I learnt now from a seller on ebay that the phone has to be activated on Verizon first. Then it can be used elsewhere. I am not sure what exactly Verizon installs on the mobile. But question is what can be done to unlock the GSM. I don't have access to CDMA nano SIM's so I cannot test that out.
  5. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

Only one user 'ankit' had difficulty in getting GSM signal after upgrading to 4.4.4 on the 2013 Droid series phones. I think he restarted a couple of times and the issue did not come back. Other than that, so far there have been no reports of service/ signal issues due to this update. Mods: I would request you to change the title of this thread to "Motorola 2013 Droid Series Discussions"
  6. So, what is the current situation about 4.4.4 on the 2012 and 2013 Droid Series phones? Which phones and which networks are not working/working out of the box/ working after using some workaround like the one that mohitjain has mentioned? It will help if we restrict to just the two Droid series phones. I can consolidate a list and send to Motorola.
  7. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

This seems quite bad. I will reach out to all those who had problems with Droid series not working in India (which subsequently started working after IMEI database was updated). If several users are facing this problem, then something in 4.4.4 is breaking support for us.
  8. Purchased a Razr HD Maxx for my dad a couple of months ago from another forum, so I would offer a few tips: 1. If you want to use it on Reliance, then you need to cut your SIM to a micro-SIM size. Some shops charge Rs. 30 for this. 2. Data works by default on Reliance - no need to do anything special. 3. In the settings, there is a "International" mode, switch to that for usage in India. 4. You will get an update to update the system from 9.16.x to 9.18.x. But before you do that, please get the phone bootloader unlocked and also get root. There are instructions on other forums to do that. 5. Lot of bloatware from Verizon on the phone. I will get rid of that for my dad in the near future if Motorola does not come out with a 4.3 update soon. 6. Smartactions is a great app on the phone. Make good use of it to get even better battery life. 7. There are some issues with WiFi. We had to change our WiFi router to 802.11g (from b/g) for this to work. All other devices in the house did not have issues. This WiFi issue has also been reported at various places.
  9. Is the Reliance Jio LTE going to run on 1800 MHz? I hope so. Airtel's 4G has not been successful commercially. Where are the phones with 2300 Mhz LTE band support?
  10. Motorola Razr HD Maxx - Tips And Suggestions

Razr HD/ Maxx users note that after upgrading to Kitkat and rooting the phone with towelroot, it is now possible to unlock the bootloader again. So, please make use of this opportunity while it lasts.
  11. I can help you with data on your device ..u need to pm me with your build version and your apn window screenshot. Are you willing to share the details? Thank you for this input. I will ask my dad to change the SIM, but probably he won't be able to obtain a micro-SIM since he has a pre-paid connection. Anyone else who has tried with micro-SIM? Please post results here. BTW: I have not been able to make any progress with Motorola so far.
  12. Motorola Razr HD Maxx - Tips And Suggestions

Hi Vijay, Thank you for this. However, I am not sure what forum members can do to identify such a mini-SIM card? The picture will not really help us to buy something from Reliance web world, I suppose. The fact that data was working previously, means that the update has messed up something in the phone. So, changing the SIM is not really a solution, in my opinion.
  13. Motorola Droid Razr M (Global)

Hi Vijay, Are you going to post the step-by-step instructions to enable DATA back on Reliance CDMA for Kitkat users?
  14. Motorola Razr HD Maxx - Tips And Suggestions

I don't have a solution, but frankly I have not tried much, since my dad does not use mobile data as such. But I agree that Kitkat does break the data connectivity with Reliance CDMA. Some PRL settings have probably got wiped off it seems during this upgrade. Others on RIMweb might suggest some troubleshooting exercise.
  15. Motorola Razr HD Maxx - Tips And Suggestions

I tested with TataDoCoMo. The signal came fine and the APN settings also came up automatically. The data also worked fine.
  16. Motorola Razr HD Maxx - Tips And Suggestions

I thought I should update this post. Last week, I upgraded my dad's XT926 (which he is using with Reliance CDMA) from 4.1.2 (some 9.16.x version) to 4.4.2 (latest Kitkat release). There were two steps involved. 1. Getting to the 9.30.1 version 2. Installing the OTA after that. After the upgrade, the phone seems a lot snappier than before. I cannot comment much on battery life, but probably there is not much difference. One negative thing that has happened is if you have contact with the +91 in front of the number, then SMS won't go (you get Error: 98). You have to edit the contact and remove the +91 or substitute with a zero. Another negative this is that Reliance CDMA data has stopped working completely. Something to do with PRL I suppose. SmartActions is no longer there. That is another negative.
  17. Just upgraded my dad's XT926 from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2. Reliance CDMA data has stopped working. So, there is something in Verizon's Kitkat which disables data on CDMA. Data on GSM works fine (Tata DoCoMo). I am not sure if this is the right thread, but mods may please post this in the appropriate place.
  18. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

Yesterday, Motorola forums support pointed me to this URL: http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x/346215-sim-card-unknown-source-moto-x-cdma-verizon-2.html Specifically the post around ICC ID was highlighted. I am not sure if this is relevant to the problem of some phones not working on Indian carriers, but it is worth digging into briefly. Can anyone test 20 and 19 digit ICC ID based SIM cards and report back which work and which do not? The 19 digit ICC ID's may not work as per the post on the AndroidCentral forum. But we have to test to figure out if that claim is true or not. More information about ICC ID is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subscriber_identity_module Another post on Apple forums talks about how 64KB SIM cards do not work and only 128KB SIM cards work. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390945?start=270&tstart=0 Harsha had mentioned about this earlier.
  19. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

If you have other phones/ even something from the past, then let me know. Perhaps we can figure out a solution for the older models as well.
  20. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

So finally, after a month of follow up, it was discovered that an entire block of IMEI numbers was missing from the GSMA global database. Now, that has been added. Indian carriers have synced their database and four out of the five phones which I am aware of, are working. Ironically, only my phone is not working still. But I am on it.
  21. Reliance CDMA Network Problem on Moto G CDMA

Can you please elaborate on how to go about unlocking through DFS? Is it bootloader unlock or some other unlock? My Droid Maxx stopped working after I did a factory reset. It shows "Reliance " at the bottom of the lock screen, but the signal icon has a red circle in it now. Earlier there was signal and 1x data working.
  22. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

Since the phone comes with 4.4 out of the box, how do you downgrade it to 4.2.2 without having root access?
  23. Droid Maxx: GSM radio is locked

Android 4.4 comes out of factory on this phone now. Update on the issue: An entire IMEI range was missed out from GSM Association's global database. I submitted five such IMEI's belonging to devices in India. Now, the global database is updated. Indian carriers sync with this database periodically. But they can be requested to sync ad hoc as well. Does anyone have any contacts with Airtel/ Vodafone/ Idea Cellular?
  24. Motorola Droid Mini - GSM issues

Motorola is investigating the issue. I should get some concrete information in a couple of days. My IMEI was not found in the Global IMEI database. Other IMEI's are yet to be checked. If anyone is aware of any other Motorola devices facing the same problem (GSM not working), then please let me know.
  25. Motorola Droid Mini - GSM issues

Yes. I have got the log. Considering it was a weekend, I have not heard back from Motorola. I will check late in the night (US timings) and update if there is something. Meanwhile, will you be able to keep the logs from your Droid Maxx (which is working with the same nano SIM for voice and data). Perhaps it would be interesting to compare the logs of two Droids - one working and another not working.
