BSNL 3G is launched in Ahmedabad and I bought it yesterday. As usual, just like any other operator, BSNL APN and settings were not delivered to my N97 (Some how N97 has problem with most operators) automatically. So I had to search net and found document and configured. Speed is not comparable to EVDO and latency is higher. It operates at about 50-60% of EVDO and speed recovery in EVDO is much better. Interesting thing is host shown in speed test is huges. My phone shows it as 3.5G So I feel happy that my CDMA is 3G and GSM is 3.5G, even if its slower. One thing I am sure is 3G is going to disappoint we all. We will not get we all dreaming. Advantage over EVDO Rev-A, is VOICE DATA SIMULTANEOUS IS POSSIBLE. I am still not able to find a person who can do video calling with me so no comments about it.

No, OMH RUIM has two PRL (Known as concocted PRL) one is 1X and another is EVDO, so based on network it gets authenticated it will show network signals. Purpose of concocted PRL is to conserve battery.

Crm, why do you want it? List down your requirements first then choose. I think tally too has Crm module. Crm is very very useful once you know your requirements. Else will make operation chaotic.

BSNL speed is,improving and also stabilizing. 3gsm has stability problem every where

BSNL modems are worst. Especially zte 8700. If you use other modem then speed is much better and stable.

If you are not satisfied with 1X then edge would be no better. For good and satisfying experience you. Need 3G phone or modem as per your need. Why don't you consider evdo devices or phones? They are any day better than 3GSM

Why object all government actions? Rim is providing everything to us and Canadian government why not our own Indian government? They earn from us so must respect law of land. We must come out of psych that what ever our government do is wrong. Let's not be our own enemy.

As long as esn do not belong to reliance they are bad as on today. But once they start accepting foreign meid or esn any esn which do not belong to reliance would be good esn as long there is no default on payments. If u r ready to wait its a good handset. Data is not working on it though
