Which Service Provider Charges Cheapest Isd Call Rates To Sweden (Europe) Either By Default Or Using Booster Cards?
kshah replied to KanagaDeepan's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
If you are intend to use computer for calling, check terrasip. They are cheap and best. If you have wifi enabled handset, then you can talk using your handset. Its very cheap and as far as my experience is concerned I liked it better than skype. go to www.terrasip.com (I am using it on my hero + EVDO + sipdroid ) if connection speed is above 500 kbps upload and download no issues. Hardly 2-3% drop and less than 500 mS delay. http://www.terrasip.com/index.php?seite=tarife4&language=en&t_country=gb#S -
I have used and roam entire ahmedabad to check bsnl wimax and worked. Just for info I am using it as trial connection since about a year FOC

3G GSM?? If looking for only data please do not go for GSM. Go for CDMA in any ways. Even CDMA EVDO performance is not as satisfactory so expecting it from GSM is really too much. Even in US 3G of AT & T is no where closer to VERIZON and SPRINT Read this too http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?app=forums&module=forums§ion=findpost&pid=190221

Yes I am using evdo on my hero on reliance

We all have high hopes for 3G, coming soon to mobile. I have been testing EVDO services of reliance in Ahmedabad just to see how fast and consistent it is. THought it is said to be EVDO Rev-A network and CDMA by default is much more efficient in real life environment as far as data transfer is concerned. I see very disappointing results where very rarely download speed crossing 2 mbps and most of the time it hoovers around 1 mbps. Attached excel sheet contains data transfer rate at various places of Ahmedabad. I conducted these tests mainly while driving at traffic junctions scattered all over Ahmedabad. I also tried to take more than 1 speed test when ever possible to reduce chances of improper judgment. I used speedtest.net application and used mumbai server. Where you see 0 or -00 its error due to dormancy / device sleep and its not very serious. If this is the scenario with CDMA where EVDO is still provided on very few handsets and provided mainly on DATA cards, its not difficult to imagine scenario where if 10% of mobile devices start using data. Also what would be scenario in GSM then?? I have seen deteriorating services of airtel as data usage increased. When I switched to airtel before about 2 years it was as fast as 1X, now its about 1/4 the 1X (Average of 40 kbps is the best) I do not know how to convert to graph and post, so if any one knows how to convert excel data to graph and please post it for easy reference. People are jealous so making fuss over big size. I have use even bigger PPC 6600 and when I got it in my hand, people were jealous of me and were appreciating big - very big screen. Now that we have choices we make fuss. Same fuss was there for iphone, it was biggest at that time. Now its norm.

Yes, data session resumes once voice call is over. While sending or receiving SMS, it switches to 1X for a while. -
3G, Our Expectations And Reality Today
kshah replied to kshah's topic in General Technical Discussion
My point is. this is just a begining and performance is so, what will happen when 3G devices increase. People are dreaming video call, live tv, blazing fast downloads ( as news papers mentioned) . They are going to get disappointments. In gsm implementing class A edge means reducing revenue. In ahmedabad I used Airtel edge and never found voice data simulatanously it may be implemented in some cities. -
No, if you really like palm OS, then best would be blackberry devices. Though it has no touch screen, its as robust and as simple OS as PALM. There are ways to get browser activated on BB devices. If you pay just Rs. 299 PM, then BB mail services are just great. Android and palm pre are good devices but simplicity of PALM and BB is unmatchable.

3G, Our Expectations And Reality Today
kshah replied to kshah's topic in General Technical Discussion
there is no such myth is clearly described by qualcomm and websites everywhere that REV A doesnt do voice data simulatenously its like EDGE , when u get call data stops , but when data is on u can still recieve calls only WIMAX 4G CAN DO Simultaneous voice and data Myth is not from qualcomm, its general perception amongst users, I see lot many people asking same question on google and I remember this type of discussion took place even on Rimweb, where it was percieved that the day we get EVDO Rev-A, we will have voice data simultaneous. In EDGE incoming call do get engaged tone, I dont know if its the case only with airtel. Wimax means having two radio on at the same time, so its possible even on wifi, I know my friend using wifi services in ahmedabad while on move and he is very happy just because of the reason that he get voice data simultaneously. 512 kbps to 2 mbps data plans on wifi on spidigo are very cheap. -
3G, Our Expectations And Reality Today
kshah replied to kshah's topic in General Technical Discussion
Yes, Its rev A and have tried in Ahmedabad, another myth about EVDO Rev-A is simultaneous voice and data, Its not there. Your phone do not remain busy while data transfer when on EVDO. However when you accept voice call, data session do get interrupted. And even if its Rev-0 there could not be any justification for 300-500 kbps data transfer rates. -
Try sipDroid its best sip client now with video call support.

Suggestion For Cheapest Evdo Enabled Handset On Reliance
kshah posted a topic in General Technical Discussion
Except for samsung corby, on which handset Reliance provide EVDO data services? I am particularly for Blackberries and HTC phones. I hate samsung, LG etc. If any one is using such services please let me know. I want 1. EVDO data services on device. I do not want 1. Samsung and LG devices 2. Blackberry services -

Speed differs from tower to tower based on traffic and may be its connectivity. I get 400 to 2000 kbps

Apple is apple, may be show but certainly innovators. Every one else follows - Be it Windows, android, RIM or symbian. And why worry about proceesor if it accomplish same work in same time. If you look at age old palm OS, which accomplish almost all tasks of latest gen handsets in less than 1/3rd processing power. Yet its snappier at times. Even multitasking by default in not supported on iphone, but its pretty quick in launching apps. Which is good for general users.

I i think Android by default has battery issue and its more prominent in cdma. Blackberry has best battery management. Even blackberry clients installed on wm gives reasonable battery life as compared to edge / gprs. Connection used by other mail clients.
