  3. i donno whether its WAP or can b used on computers.... but aircel called it "pocket internet" n m accessing sites like facebook, orkut etc thru it .... i hope if i connect ma cell to ma lappy it will work.... Check your access point settings, if its thru proxy it will not work with computer.
  4. ^^^ True, even for most operators VAS means ringtones, caller tunes and stupid applications like astrology and cricket. THey never think of providing net / email at better or lucrative price. They never bothered to educate customers about benefits of data and email over conventional way like SMS for communicating. It seems all are in competition about mindlessness. When Reliance CDMA was launched - i thought it was most thoughful launch of service, they offered free or very cheap data service, free or next to free SMS, way cheaper call charges. Good quality handset (LG 2030 and Sam 191 user with vouch for their quality for sure) Even reliance that time offered buy back of GSM handset and offered phone book transfer to handsets from GSM SIM free of cost. I have got it done at WEB WORLD twice. But then I dont know what went wrong and Reliance became arrogant, least bothered about customer and denied accepting limitation of CDMA technology - in terms of handset - otherwise superior technology.
  5. GPRS is very deceptive word. Is it on mobile only or can be tethered and used on computers? If its on mobile WAP would be more appropriate word to use - though technically not correct. I think unlimited WAP at 99 is offered by most operators. Airtel and idea I know about.
  6. new operators may get new subscribers only. For existing users, most users will not be willing to change operators unless they have some incentive like lower tariff or better coverage or free on net calls or better VAS. For free on net calls BSNL is clear winner in Gujarat with their LO KAR LO BAAT where just in Rs 171 PM all calls on BSNL network is free. May be the same for other circles. I have seen people buying BSNL sims to get advantage of free on net calls. Most new operators start their operations where there is very very stiff competition. If they introduce their services from semi urban and taluka places, I am sure they will get better subscriber base. New operators also need to set their priority right by giving good, floating and changing incentives to post paid subscribers. In India trend is just opposite, here prepaid subscribers are more pempered that post paid subscribers. Post paid give them more revenue and loyalty than prepaid.
  7. Has any one tried mundu SMS? It sends SMS for 15 paise per SMS upto 300 charecters (2 SMS charge) Nationally. http://www.mundusms.com SMS sent on Reliance is delivered pretty late (15-20 minuts) where as sent on other networks (GSM) is delivered almost immediately. Post experiences here.
  8. Microsoft "my Phone"

these things can be backed up with any good backing up s/w ... for me what matters most is backing up contacts and images as i loose them often For me contacts, calender and notes are always synced and welll protected but apps and settings are most cumbersome
  9. Microsoft "my Phone"

Yes, online back up is good and certainly desirable. But they do not restore your all data like apps, settings and other user system data.
  10. Microsoft "my Phone"

Good service. But end of the day fact is your mobile data is safest in PALM. Microsoft could have done it for desktop too. Same applies to SYMBIAN. neither of them can restore call data and sms, applications using sync application. Only palm can.
  11. ^^^ this is the belief exploited by all operators. I too used reliance for about 4.5 years and switched to Airtel. With life time free incoming and call forwarding 2 months are enough for smooth switch over.
  12. I too had almost similar experience from Airtel. I am using postpaid and my monthly bill is not too high but still far more than ARPU (Rs. 400 around) to about Rs. 1000 to 1200 PM. I was offered free, instant conversion of my connection to prepaid. When I protested saying how can you make such offer without me requesting it? If you want I stop using your services as I have enough brain to choose my service, then they stopped calling me for such offers. I posted same here too long back.
  13. India Will Shine.....

I dont know what has changed? How so called stable government is gonna make difference. Major economy booster projects like EXPRESS HIGHWAYS areyet not completed, rather they are no where in list of priority. Remember China is number 5 worldwide in terms of infrastructure and that is the reason why they grow fast. We need connectivity across the country. Stock market is reflection of NOTHING.
  14. I have used palm treo 700P for my call recording requirement and its the best. All in back ground. You need not to bother to say save / record or any command. Calls are so well named. You can even customize naming of file. I have used spice too for 2 days bnut not worth its price. Treo is smart phone after all.
  15. But what about nokia cdma handset quality? They are so poor and so bad service support for cdma handsets.
  16. Please have a look at http://blogs.nokia.com/nseries/index.php/2...comment-page-1/ Its Symbian with QWERTY KB, touch screen and 32 GB onboard memory Only thing I did not liked is 128 MB RAM. SYMBIAN was missing on these two aspects only, i.e. touch screen and QWERTY KB.
  17. ^^^ Yes, I read it in article. But circle change offered by operators. Why one would choose MNP route?
  18. No circle change is not allowed atleast for now.
  19. Can any one please PM me PRL or reliance EVDO card along with channels? There is no harm posting here too. Choice is yours. I want to try to make procedures where RIMwebian can check EVDO coverage so that before investing in modem they can check if EVDO is available in areas they are living / usage.
  20. Though E71 was my first symbian access ever, I must say its very stable, fast and reliable os. Only thing missing was touch screen. Even S60V5 has good touch flow. OS wise, its much better than WM, MAC OS and Plam. I don't know about new palm os. In E71 available RAM is 72 MB, however system never uses more than 40MB even when you are using resources hungry apps like office, browser, media player and total 10 apps. I will surely prefer to give symbian V5 TRY over any other OS.
  21. Cdma workshop do not read nokia. You need nokia diego for it.
  22. If you ask sales guy they are aware about billing cycles. usually every company has 2 or 3 billing cycles in a month.
  23. Hi, I have about 60000 mails in my outlook PST file in total. In order to reduce size, I am planning to delete most of them. However I do not want to loose mail IDS which I need for fututre contacts. So I am looking for software which can extract mail addresses from outlook. I saw one at http://www.tweakmarketing.com/products/out...s_extractor.php Its very little expensive, is there any free such solution available?
  24. Please see this image, I got this screen while registering my new landlines of my office. From www.airtel.in
  25. I think Tata too will try to dissuades their CDMA user so they switch to GSM when number portability come. In Gujarat and many places its likely to be introduced in Sept 2009
