    Permanent unlock - what does that even mean ? Any unlock method you implement can be re-implemented again after you do a factory reset.

  5. ^ If you don't mind me asking - were these new phones with box manuals etc or were they used ones ? See my thought here is - comGateway / SNS are good if you are getting a new phone - because customs evaluate each phone individually and you may even save on the customs if its evaluated at the invoice price. But if you are importing a used phone without box charger etc - phone only etc, then PPOBox will make more sense as they get customs cleared in bulk and the odds of inspection are low...Please correct me if I am wrong. What is the average time with SNS ? (comeGateway - 72 hrs flat to India - then it all depends on customs)
  6. ^ Do not use comGateway if you are going to get your shipment in or via Delhi. Your phone is going to get stuck in customs. Delhi customs is nutritious for harassing..... My shipment via comGateway landed in Bangalore on Monday 4 AM and is still in customs.....DHL didn't do a thing to help me. This despite Bangalore having a good reputation of customs. PPOBox had some bad weather issues and people misused it by ordering large number of phones with false values....hence the trouble. My recommendation - go with PPOBox with insurance.....they use bulk clearance and the odds of your phone getting stuck are low...especially if it is not a new one. I do not know how good ShopNShip is....but they are the cheapest if you want to order just one phone. However you will have to open an account with them.... @KanishkGandharv...can you please share Anuradha's contact ?

    I understand...Thanks I have some knowledge of rooting, custom roms and custom recoveries....I have custom roms on both my tab and phone and keep updating them regularly. But I have to admit..I am a CDMA virgin and have no clue about flashing -NV,RUIM etc....but I would like to learn though....going by the posts here, people seem to be very helpful XDA seems to have made some good progress in unlocking the GSM part of the device....I am still waiting to get the device delivered...will be able to try those custom roms out once I have it. Now the only thing that remains is setting the phone in RUIM only mode...

Being able to import mint condition phones would be awesome...I will be able to change phones often then...Customs Officials do open the box right ? I heard the customs on used phones is 42%....it makes no sense in getting the phones released from customs if that is the case....

    There is a thread in the XDA Sprint section with details about ZVA and how to update it manually via zip flashing... Do check... Also why do want to take that update ? It only adds LTE bands...which are useless in India.

    the problem with paid service is that every time I have to change the settings I will have to shell out money.....will prefer doing it myself...I play with my phones a lot. Custom Roms Anyways, its still a option....thanks. How much does it cost for a paid service ?

    Guys....Can you please tell me if I can set the device to RUIM only mode using any free software or is purchasing CDMA WorkShop / DFS absolutely necessary ? Atleast are there any cheaper alternatives ? DFS costs more than the phone itself at $600, CDMA WorkShop - $100...

  18. Has anybody here imported a used phone from ebay ? I mean if the condition of the phone is listed as "used" ebay - the same will be printed on the paypal invoice - how does that affect customs ? Anyone with experience ? Also is there any way to avoid the paypal currency conversion fee while buying on ebay ? Costs a bomb... OK...So anybody having experience importing MINT condition phones ? Tell us your story please....

  21. ^ Customs was charged on invoice value or Indian MRP ? Anybody have experience with HopShopGo ? They are charging $30 for shipping - feels expensive compared to ppobox - but comes with Insurance and 5 days shipping time.

    Hi, I am planning to get a Sprint G2 for myself. Can you pleasr confirm if it works for CDMA RUIM in India ? The phone I am planning to buy is the locked version. Will I have to buy the paid DFS software for unlocking / using it with CDMA ? The GSM has a stable unlock now as far as I know. Have you encoutered any problems with the GSM part of the phone like signal/data issues ? Thank you.
