  1. Thats the main issue with EVDO (CDMA tech). No good data plans. Add to it the shaky EVDO coverage & issues like phone engage sometimes even on EVDO that even all operators are discarding CDMA tech!!
  2. Change Your Username

Request to change my username to "mywebid" Thanks in advance!
  3. IMO, they use data sniffers at servers to analyse the IP headers and user agent strings. User agent strings are different apps on a phone than from the apps on desktop.
  4. Rs. 95 pack does not allow tethring on EVDO as per website. Only mobile browsing is allowed in EVDO.
  5. Haier CG220 or Micromax C190?

The reason for this 'loot' that shopkeepers give is that there is scarcity of the handset and it has been purchased by them in 'black' In fact in Reliance website, its price is mentioned as 1999/- @Amit ji, what's your take on the handset? Are there issues if both GSM & CDMA sims are used in handset? What's your recommendation on the handset for basic dual sim use handset. (btw, If there are issues, is there a new firmware to fix them?
  6. Haier CG220 or Micromax C190?

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like Haier CG220 is a waste.
  7. Haier CG220 or Micromax C190?

I enquired several shops for Haier CG220 but they are quoting 2300 for this handset. Has anyone bought it for less recently? Am also looking feedback on this handset. I have heard this this handset gives lot of issues if both CDMA & GSM SIMS are put and used.
  8. such a deep price cut. Bad for early buyers like me. And add to it the paint on back panel of my phone has started to peel off just 6 months old phone.
  9. EVDO blackout in majority of Delhi?

Finally the issue seems to have got resolved now mostly in east NCR, though the speeds are quite slow in EVDO and the connection is switching to 1X sometimes. The general observation is that the signal strength has dropped at all places.
  10. EVDO blackout in majority of Delhi?

Situation gone very bad in few area of east NCR. Not able to connect to EVDO or even 1x, if connect veryyy slow, very unstable (sometimes disconnecting witin 30 secs). And not to mentione the weak network.. earlier no signal time rarely crossed 1% (most of times 0%) now 5-7% normal.
  11. EVDO blackout in majority of Delhi?

Did that, but those illetrates wasted my 15 minutes - asking settings, reboot comp, reboot device, set to HSD only and what not. I even tried to make then understand that I am a techincal guy and would not call like this unless there is a genuine problem, but it did not went into their deaf ears. Hopeless they are!! Just waiting to get this blackout to be resolved....
  12. EVDO blackout in majority of Delhi?

The data network is almost unusable in Delhi-NCR from a week. EVDO connection is dropping in seconds in most areas of East NCR. Even 1x is not working most of times. And when it does for 5-10 mintues speed is pathetic. Is anyone also facing this issue in these areas? RCDMA network has detriated visibly in Delhi-NCR area in last one month. Seems they have lowered the tower emmision power, stopped maintaining towers or what. The signals are frequently flutuating, full signal only in open at some places, no signals inside buidings sometimes, call dropping, data conneciton unusable etc. Seems end is near for RCDMA.. RIP RCDMA.
  13. Suggestions for CDMA handset with keypad

Voice - yes. But that is also subjective now with CDMA operators closing down towers and not maintaining them. It is not at all good now; at best at par with GSM. Though in some area/pockets where coverage is still top notch it is better than GSM. Data - No. Yes, a big No. A big issue with CDMA network is that phone is engaged when on 1x (and sometimes on EvDo too) and 80% of towers are 1x only. So unless you plan to stay only witin EvDo coverage with no roaming in 1x areas, it is a big No. And with EvDo coverage actually falling (RCDMA is no more maintaining EvDo towers in low revenue area; forget about adding new ones), it makes no sense to have a 20K smartphone just to see that your phone sounds engage while using data. And certainly Data needs to be kept ON 24x7... its 2013, not 2009! due to careful evalution, our 12 RCDMA connections in family are now gone down to 3 and I am also thinking of finally convert remaining ones to GSM. And I tell you I did not regret leaving RCDMA. GSM just works.. and there is a reason why most of the world is on GSM and why CDMA tech is pronounced dead by its father QUALCOM only.
  14. ZTE made Mtag 352 almost looks like this. I think it is same as Releiance V6700. Even on Google play this phone is identified as "MTS ZTE ZXY-ZTE_V6700" (those people forgot to change the identification string . Even this phone looks good from looks and is pretty average in use. I am sure there must be same issues with MTS Mtag 352 as well.
  15. Must be.. I don't send messages too often hence didn't observed this. Actually there are several bugs in the phone both in Android 2.3 and ZTE custom layer. The phone is just serving a purpose of basic touch phone that's it. And since I have used HTC Desired HD and Samsung S3, this phone comes nowhere close to them both in hardware and capabilities. I wanted to use CDMA data on Android and thats why took this phone. It is a big let down. Several times my phone connect in 1x mode engaging my number. Even with EVDO connection, many times it sounds engaged. It is my primary number which I don't wish to sound engage. Data on CDMA does not make sense. I don't know how can people designing standards can overlook such a must requirement that phone should never be engaged if Data is ON. Look at GSM, Even GPRS connection does not engage your phone ever. No wonder now I know why further development in CDMA was discontinued by the very company who invented it (Qualcomm). CDMA is a dead as phones moved towards data for which it was not designed. But yes, CDMA is superior standard if only voice is considered. No doubt about it.
  16. Bad hardware quality. 4 weeks to the handset and already facing following issues: 1.) Charging/data micro USB slot on phone seems to be getting loose . Have to keep an object on the slot after connecting cable for uninterrupted charging. Don't want to get the handset opened at service station this soon. Don't know how long would be able to continue like this 2.) Handset getting very hot near the camera on back if data (especially if on 1x on low signal) is ON. Due to this if data is ON and phone is being charged simultaneously, then getting battery over- heated warnings even in winters. Don't know what would happen in summers on using phone under the sun in open. 3.) Handset corrupting (damaging?) 8 GB Micro SD card. The phone does not support micro-SD capacity greater than 4 GB. I used a perfect SanDisk 8 GB micro SD (which was working in my HTC GSM) only to find that the phone corrupted it in 2 days saying 'SD card damaged'. Even after multiple formats from same phone, it did not work in this phone again (yet to try it back on HTC to confirm if it is permanent damage or just soft issue). Had to factory reset the phone loosing all settings Inserted 4 GB micro SD and it is working fine now. 4.) Surprisingly one fine day the phone starts taking 5 seconds to wake after pressing the power button. The issue did not resolved even after several restarts. Had to factory reset the phone. 5.) Bad camera. Above all no way to turn off the ugly click sound with camera click even with third party apps! Also, no torch application is working with the flash. One app worked but with continuous clicks sound!! Other general feedback on phone: 1.) Phone has just 140MB internal user memory. Updating the stock apps only leaves 80MB. These inbuilt apps use internal memory for cache & data so say 20 MB more is used by them. Now several apps for 2.3 compatibility are still supported only on phone memory. Also even if a apps is movable to SD card, it uses 1-10 MB on internal memory. So on just installing 3-4 apps memory is finished and you get a warning. So this phone absolutely does not leave chance to install apps !! now what are we using Android for if not apps. Somebody ask these chinese craps. They should have at least 1 GB internal memory. 2.) Reported battery level is inaccurate all time (seems this is more to do with Android as my HTC also has this issue). 3.) Signal reception is weak and fluctuating. 4.) Secured WiFI connection leads to frequent phone crash/restart (known Android 2.3 issue) Battery life very unpredictable. Without data and normal phone usage (45-60 min talk a day) sometimes it goes on for 2 days while sometimes it goes out in a day. With data, of course it depends on screen ON time and apps running using the data. On an all, a very average phone. Not value for money compared to what one can get in same amount for GSM. It can best serve as basic phone or first Android phone for someone who has never used Android phones earlier. If someone has used Samsung, HTC Android phones then it would be a very big big let down. Also, if someone has used Android 4.x phones then also it would be a disappointment.
  17. Strange. I still cannot believe on this claim. I checked the actual installed memory using several system info apps but it is showing 401 MB every time. I don't think that the system info apps report the available RAM (actual RAM - consumed by Android OS) rather than actual one.
  18. Can anyone please give input on this?
  19. ok. You can confirm it by messaging MBAL to 55333 to get remaininig dtat balance.
  20. What about data carry forward? Is the left over data limit in a month gets carried over to next month or does it lapse at month end? Please let us know whenever it's more than a month for your phone.
  21. Phone Engaged when using Data

What about this case - In Evdo Rev A signal coverage, a mobile with 1x capability is connected to EVDO tower in 1x mode. Does the phone remains engaged in this case too?
  22. Can we recharge prepaid CDMA OMH SIM with EVDO activated used in smartphone with NetConnect+ HSD prepaid packs and get data according to NetConnect+ pack?
  23. RUIM based EVDO USB Data Modem

A confusion - If I put a prepaid RCDMA OMH SIM in a RUIM based EVDO unlocked dongle, then can I recharge it with available NetConnect+ HSD prepaid plans listed at http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wireless_internet.html and get the data? Searching in the forum looks like HSD recharges are locked to Reliance sold non-RUIM dongles. Is it so? Can't we get NetConnect+ recharges work on normal OMH EVDO enabled SIM to be used with RUIM EVDO unlocked dongle or Smartphone?
