Yeah! But I feel bad for those people who have taken unlimited plan without knowing the 10gb limit. I am sure there are many of them who might have done this mistake. Afterall its my strong beliefe that, all these big companies cannot survive without cheating.

With no doubts, huawei modem is the winner. Its already discussed few pages back in same thread. I have seen demo of both. The speed is no issue for both models. Both are same. But huawei modem is bit lengthy but slim and sexily curved with offwhite color. But most useful feature is that, there is a SDcard slot in huawei modem, which can be used as PENDRIVE and guess what, the pendrive size depends on whatever size Memory card you put in it. You put 1gb or 32gb, its your wish. And its also confirmed that you can use pendrive and modem both at the same time. And ZTE is black but not good design, more looks like MATCHBOX. Get more details about huawei modem here at www.huawei.com Dear Amit Jain I am from Mumbai and its available in almost all the places here. Yes it was not available for first weeks when launched, but now they are. I myself saw it in Prabhadevi and Shivaji Park Reliance Express dealers. Please note always mention your City when you say its not available in your city. Your city inbormation shows --Not Selected-- in your profile. My choice is huawei modem

23-April-2009 Guess what? All the plans stated as UNLIMITED* now renamed as 10GB Plans. Finally reliance learned that word UNLIMITED cannot be used with thier limited plans. Anyways reliance sent wrong signals with its stupid advertising method. See above screenshot..

1) I think you made a mistake here - Unlimited Data 2) Can this also be done with Offices having Wifi.. i thought that was easier as suggested by fellow members. 3) Diff betweem Micro SD card & Flash Card ? Just another type or some fundamental differences. Hi ACS 1) yes thats my typo-error, I mean data trasnfer, not bandwidth. anyways the whole sentence makes it understand. 2) Of course yes, software proxy is already in-built in XP/VISTA at no extra cost or no extra hardware. Just some good network person can do that. With USB the Internet is connected and with LANCARD the internet can be shared among home or office comps. You can surely try some other professional hasslefree softwares (some freely) available on net. Just type software proxy server in google. Anyone can simply setup by reading step-by-step guide or instructions. 3) Later discovered that this USB EVDO modem have MicroSD Slot making it external detachable device hence I suspect the speed of reading and writing will not match with normal pendrive, but still its convinience for small small documents. Hi Honest bro... I was bit busy for one major family function hence was away for quiet some time. But hoping to stay connected now.... Thanks a lot for a warm welcome.

Yes Thanks a lot for confirmation! I also got some information with nearly similar model of HUAWEI EC169 CDMA EVDO modem at this link http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/products/view.do?id=2100 The specification says "TRANSFLASH CARD SLOT" That means we can use any high capacity TFlash card seperately purchasing. Its really amazing idea to use several different TFcards with same devices, that will save lots of space and we can carry large audio / video files conviniently to be carried and transfered or simply enjoy. Its convinient to organize our fun data and business data in seperate TFlash. No need to carry multiple pendrives at the same time. Its Cool....but I am still supicious about speed. May be someone finds the data transfer speed information of HUAWEI pendrive mode comparing with normal pendrives. I tried a lot to get specification of Huawei EC168C the exact model offered by reliance, but it seems the modem is either discontinued or custom made for reliance and not given on site. Imho both the models are nearly same.

Its actually difficult to decide when you compare both. Actually there is no point in comparing both. Why one should compare fixed wired connection and wireless connection? But still there are few basic points of discussoin between Wired and EVDO USB internet connection. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Wired connection have UNLIMITED bandwidth plans at cheaper rates. EVDO USB is just introduced with competing plans but still no UNLIMITED plans at the moment and all we know Reliance Broadband+ is actually not Unlimited. 2) In Wired connection we get really STABLE connection and mostly the exact speed you get what promised by ISP. Wireless will always be Network dependent and GOD know what these ISPs try to kick each others network and we never get stable connection. The demo of whole 90 minutes I got of EVDO USB was not stable, it was between 300K to 700K and only for few minutes I got 1MBPS, with close tower network. But still they claim the give upto 3.1. May in future it will improve. 3) You can connect wired connection to Router and share among many computers at home and at office. But USB DEVICE can be connected to only one computer. Using software proxy for sharing is possible at offices but still unpractical. 4) Mobility of EVDO USB with broadand speed even upto 1mbps was a long awaited dream, which became true for all of us, so this is the one important reason why I will go for this solution. I myself am going to get this option in a week only for the Mobility feature. Anyways if an average 1mbps speed is enough for you with 10GB download then EVDO is great thing to go for. 5) Pendrive option. Just above in discussion I came to know that 32GB space provided as PENDRIVE on the device which is really a great convinience. I still dont know if MODEM and PENDRIVE can be used at the same time or not. Is yes, then its really a great thing.

I will be surely suprised. If I still take Unlimited Plan of Rs.1099/1750 Yes, I will be surprised how can I get Bill of Rs. 14982?? Billing depends totally on Credit Limit. A new customer get Credit Limit of Rs. 1000-1200 in starting. So how can we get higher bills? Only our services will be suspended after we use 10GB and then use upto our credit limit (as per Rs.2/MB) So one can use max around 10.5-11 GB only. Am I wrong? OMG you literally took the amount seriously. The amount I mentioned is just a symbolic. It also can happen that on third or fourth day the connection will be suspended for over usage and you may need to pay heavily to use it further or after paying the bill upto you credit limit. They have sent such huge bills to postpaid phone and broadnet users in past. I myself am a witness of few such cases and quarrels in reliance head office which is next to my home. And yes, with reliance its possible. I was surprised to see my own name blacklisted for Rs.11 of non-payment when I went to buu CDMA1x data card. The outstanding was of FWP termination, thouhght I paid every bill upto end and paid last amount by cash in thier office. After showing the copy of termination letter and last paid reciept they were convinced and I got data-card. This happened just 6 months back. They may send such bill even if you have some credit limit. They can simply give you an excuse that credit limit was increased under some scheme and it may happen. But anyways thanks for your reply. Go ahead use above 10GB and test for yourself. You have to be ready always for surprises, at least with reliance. Dont forget to tell us honestly that what the highest amount of bill you have paid to them. Upto credit limit or more. Anyways goodluck with FUP.

Today I personally went to Webworld, here in Mumbai (Please always mention your City in your post to know plan differences). Came to know about few Unlimited Citywise and National plans of BROADBAND+ 3G EVDO (wireless usb internet connection). After reading the fine print about UNLIMITED plans with 10GB limit, I objected on word unlimited but the counter sales-lady was smart, she aksed me who uses more than 10GB per month? I said I use around 45 GB per month (my last month usage ) on my Reliance Wired BroadNet Unlimited 1mbps connection. And her eyes went rolling with disbelief. Anyways she went silent after that. In Broadband+ (EVDO) they mentioned some plans saying UNLIMITED***, yes a word "unlimited with three stars" and in fine print they say Fair Usage Policy is 10GB limit and 2Rs. per MB. This is nothing but a *C*H*E*A*T*I*N*G* One should not be surprised if they send you a Bill of Rs.14982/- plus taxes in second or third month onwards. Knowing all the facts now I still demanded for the demo, but the related person was out for onsite demo itself, so I gave my address and came home. Around after two hours, two young boys came with ZTE usb modem and installed it. I was amazed to see the speed upto 1 mbps with all kind of tests I did. They also said it shoots upto 3.1 mbps when network is good, but for me the proof of stable 1mbps wireless connection was better than other solutions. Anyways in my opinion even 1 MBPS is unbelievably great and outstanding while you are travelling. I was totally satisfied with the available speed. Its better than my wired Unlimited plan. If they stop this *C*H*E*A*T*I*N*G* of word UNLIMITED with 10GB limit I will sure go for it. One disadvantage for home users that they cannot share it on multiple pcs with hardware solutions like ROUTER,etc and using shared internet with proxy server with this unit is simply un-practical. I am already UN-satisfied user of CDMA 1x since many years in Mumbai and looking for a ...CHANGE. If some of you people think they you can upgrade from CDMA 1x to Broadband+ EVDO, then you are wrong. CDMA 1x is older technology and the device have limited speed upto 144kbps (they claim it). This device cannot be used for 3G EVDO. Broadband+ is based on 3G and 3D device will be required. Webworld people have clear information that there is no upgradation option is available now. Yes, I forgot to mention why I went to Webworld. Actually I terminated my postpaid plan and shifted to prepaid of CDMA1x Data card, which I think I may not be using anymore. Anyways it was my secondary option for net. Morale of the post here is "ALWAYS READ A FINE PRINT" I hope some of my experience and information would be useful to some of you people. Thanks for reading and bye for now...

Dear Service of both are diffrent, Platinum plan is CDMA 1X service plan And Platinum 5GB is EVDo Plan, Even you have to check that your device is EVDO capable. He is obviously using CDMA 1x as he stated that he is using it since 3-5 years. Today reliance people gave me DEMO of EVDO also called Brodband+ here in my Mumbai Residence. The speed is amazingly cool as they claim UPTO 3.1 mbps speed. Its really amazing thing to see YouTube HD (yes I said HD) video downloading wirelessly at four times faster speed than playing speed. I mean I tried 4 minute HD video to see but the whole HD clip was downloaded within 1 minute. I am sure going for this one. I am already using CDMA 1x old usb datacard since 2 years and its time for ...CHANGE!

SOMETHING ABOUT MOBILE INTERNET I AM USING I recently surveyed thru all the possible options available for Mobile Internet and I am here with following results. 1) I have been using CDMA mobile internet to surf on my LAPTOP and I was getting upto 144kbps (reliance says) internet connection till last month. I stopped using it as I never got 144kbps as they claimed but was paying heavy charges and kept changing around all the plans available on CDMA mobiles. I have not used TATA INDICOM CDMA connection but as the technology and most handsets are similar I am assuming that TATA's CDMA also will not go above 144kbps, as they also claim same on thier website. 2) Now I am on EDGE+GPRS Mobile Internet connection. Read more to know why. I found EDGE+GPRS much more faster than CDMA internet because, TRUST ME, I got pure 247kbps Mobile Internet speed which is much more faster and most important is STABLE than CDMA. It does not disconnects until you try to disconnect it on your own. For proof that EDGE GIVES 247 kbps visit this AIRTEL page on USB EDGE MODEM and look for a line "EDGE 247 kbps high-speed data performance" ON ..... http://www.airtelworld.com/level2_t3data.aspx?path=1/106/179 3) ISP: Now how did I get it. Go for any ISP who offer EDGE GPRS connection. I am now AIRTEL subscriber as they AIRTEL (Mumbai) gives ultimate EDGE GPRS whichi I think is best at the moment (Sep 2007). 4) Handset: You need EDGE-Enabled GPRS phone. I use MOTOROLA A1200 (MOTOMING) which did not had EDGE Enabled as per the MANUAL. But I myself enabled with some HARDWRE TRICK from my favourite forum (www....motorolafans......com) which is only best motorola forum. You can use any EDGE Enabled handset. 5) How I connect: I connect my MOTOMING to my laptop or sometimes PC with USB Cable, and enjoy very high-speed and Stable Internet with the help of MOTOROLA-PHONE-TOOLS software which comes in cd with all motorola phones in box. MotoMing works like modem for pc and laptop so we can surf on pc and laptop at stable 247kbps. With normal connection the large file can be downloaded at 21 to 25 kbyte, which is too good for Mobile Internet and nearly similar to 256kbps cablenet. Just imagine staying online in yahoo messenger or using SKYPE for international Voice chat with no disconnetion. The connection slows down when Incoming Voice Call comes but does not disconnects. 6) Conclusion1 : I THINK (stable 247kbps) is always better than (upto 144 kbps) 7) Conclusion2 : No need to carry separate bulky DATACARDS or USB-MODEMS for laptop and pc internet. Just plug in your EDGE Mobile and INTERNET SHURU............. I hope this article will help a lot to many as new information in Mobile Internet. REMEMBER I DID NOT DISCUSS ANY COST FEATURE WHICH IS EVERYONES OWN CONCERN AND CAN VISIT AIRTEL OR OTHER WEBSITE FOR DETAILS. IN FACT SPEEDWISE IT IS CHEAPER THAN CDMA FROM RELIANCE. ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st Edit: JUST NOW TRIED ON MUMBAI'S MTNL-GPRS ON LIFETIME PREPAID SIMCARD AND HAD SAME RESULT OF 247KBPS SPEED, DONT KNOW HOW BUT SOMEHOW GOVT COMPANY ALSO GIVING PURE EDGE CONNECTION ON EDGE+GPRS. COOL. Someone try this on BSNL / VODAFONE (HUTCH) / BPL and post results here for Analysis. Mahendra (aka indiacam)

Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
cmahendra replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
thanks dear for the suggestion. i think idea charges rs 20 per day in pre paid while it charges 500 per month in post paid. earlier idea used to charge only rs 5 for pre paid. they raised the rates in december last. right now i use dolphin post paid for unlimited which comes to about rs 349 a month.is anything cheaper than this with any operator. i am told corporate connections offer unlimited gprs only for 99 a month. anyone here can get me one such plan? Airtel provides the unlimited GPRS on Postpaid for the corporates for few corporates it's Rs 99 per month and for few its 199 per month. idea provides unlimited GRPRS @ 99 for the corporates. you can check in your company if they have corporate connection or else take the connection with the help of some of your fren who si working in company where Airtel/Idea provides Corporate plan Thanks. do u kmw someone who can get me one in delhi.i have been trying to get one for me. Err.... sorry to interrupt....... I think all you ppl are going off-topic. We are discussing speed of net here, not corporate net packages which is not available to every common person directly from Reliance. I hope even moderators remember that. LOLZ Too much offtopic things will hijack the thread subject at end. -
Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
cmahendra replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
@Hi Honest, Its been long time I was missing from this thread and forum. @Dear Ashish You may be right with your own experience and we respect that. But remember here we are discussing the speed of Net which is purely based on equipments and thier specs we use, strength of network signal we are having and city where you are opting the subscription plans. You may be having bad experience with EGPRS in your city, but wait... dont assume everyone might be getting same problem. What I mentioned in my most of the posts here, the technical differences in CDMA (max 144kbps) and EGPRS (max 384kbps). If EGPRS can give 384 kbps then it can give 384 kbps and if CDMA is limited (at present) to 144 kbps then it is limited to 144 kbps. I/WE DO NOT BELIEVE WHEN YOU SAY 240 KBPS ON RELIANCE NETCONNECT. AS PER TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF ANY CDMA HANDSETS IN RELIANCE 144KBPS IS MAX. HOPE YOU WILL CHECK ALL THE CDMA SPECS FIRST, BEFORE POSTING. And yes we are getting far better service and speed with AIRTEL in Mumbai and other cities I tried. Many a times I am online on laptop for 8 to 10 hours on EDGE and never realized that my Laptop is Connected thru my Windows Mobile (O2 Atom Life). My plan is Unlimited Flat Fee (Rs.450/month) in AIRTEL PREPAID. O2 does not need any settings too. It takes basic setting from device and voila.... you are connected... whole day. Built in PushMail keeps it connected whole 24 hours on device with no disturbance to voice. Your profile says you are from Mumbai but you have not mentioned your city where you are testing EGPRS (EDGE). I dont want to assume that you are testing from Mumbai without you clearly mention it. Here in Mumbai we immediately see EDGE indicator on our Symbian and Windows Mobiles and we can download at pretty high speed than I posted this thread first time, which is twice to thrice faster than Reliance Netconnect. DONT ASSUME THAT I HATE RELIANCE, I STILL HAVE TWO RELIANCE CONNECTIONS AND USING THEM HAPPILY. ITS JUST A TECHNICAL DIFFERENCES AND ACTUAL EXPERIENCED WE ARE DISCUSSING. BUT IT SEEMS YOU HATE AIRTEL OR EDGE WITHOUT ANY REASON. ANY J' ? Hope you will reply after doing some genuine tests. Mahendra Mumbai, India -

cmahendra replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
WOW Thanks for your valuable information. You people are really GURUS Just in case you forgot....we are talking about EDGE here (multi-channel gprs) and not the basic GPRS (single channel). Anyways in my last post I clearly mentioned (Kbyte/sec) and (Kbits/sec) to avoid confusion. -
Illegal Clip Charges In Relinance Netconnect Bill
cmahendra replied to tanume's topic in Data services
Even the extreme step to file a PETITION against Reliance is not necessary. Simply ask them not to charge for CLIP from next month (as per billing cycle) and write a complaint letter and try to get reverting back the amount of the CLIP charges they took in previous bills. And yes CLIP is an OPTIONAL service for POSTPAID customers and FREE for prepaid customers These days its too good to stay on LIFETIME PREPAID. You save on rentals. You save on charges for extra copy of billing statement. You save on overall SERVICE tax on rental and usage. You save on Internet Charges and FREE peace of mind. Remember Rs.1/min in Postpaid means Rs.1 plus service tax, thats equal to Rs.1.12. Add rental to it and you wont believe what you are paying for around 100 to 200 calls. Rs.1 in lifetime prepaid means Rs.1 I recharge with Rs.222 and get 222 talktime. No service tax hassle. -
Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
cmahendra replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
If you really get 20 kbyte/sec while downloading, then your EDGE is perfectly working at 200kbits/sec and this is normal (and good) speed in major cities. Rural areas do not have EDGE but still you get around 100 Kbits/sec which is equal to Reliance CDMA. The ease of using Internet in PC via GPRS depends on which model of Handset you are using. Symbian and Windows mobiles are best in using GPRS Internet on pc. Its better you visit Reliance Gallery at least once for basic information on connecting pc to Phone for GPRS/CDMA internet. Anyways its not too hard. But hey beware of next generation kids >>>> my 10 year old kid could install ActiveSync 4.5 for XP and then connected my Window mobile to his own seperate pc and download camera images without anyones help. He can install / uninstall CAB files (installation setup files). And yes he can also connect his pc with my O2 Atom Life with USB and browses internet occassionaly. He knows where that INTERNET SHARING option on O2. He is just 10 but he is bored of Highest-graphics 3D Games and asked me to install Macromedia Flash and Photoshop few months before and already have good hands in both, like outlining, special effects and FX pluggins. Hey dudes...This is all personal but please dont mind, I could not stop myself as I am toooo proud of my kid Mine is a AirTel Lifetime Prepaid card and there is no free SMS package available at the moment for Lifetime Sim Cardholders. SMS does not have any connection with EDGE/GPRS service in Airtel. In Airtel, SMS are charged at standard costs all over India like Rs.1 for local and 2 for National and Rs.5 for international. Mobile Internet, Edge+gprs Is Much More Faster Than Cdma
cmahendra replied to cmahendra's topic in Data services
Oh My GOD I am here after several months and saw this thread at top in this category and still hot hot and hot. Ok here is something more I wanna tell. I am now using O2 Atom Life with Windows Mobile Professional 6 operating system. The EDGE GPRS (i'm in mumbai) is rocking and in O2, there is a simple clickable program called INTERNET SHARING you need to click and VOILA....... the internet starts flowing in your PC/LAPTOP with no additional setting. You may connect O2 to your pc/laptop either by Bluetooth or USB. I prefer USB for no hassles. Anyways I already mentioned before my AIRTEL EDGE GPRS is rocking and gives me smoother and faster UNLIMITED internet both on O2 (MOBILE DEVICE) and my LAPTOP. Just an update the cost of EDGE GPRS is not changed and its still Rs.15 per day (charged on daily basis). I save by not using GPRS on few days when I dont want internet. Do you know how? Send "GPRSACT" to 222 and internet starts immediately and you are charged for the day. Send "GPRSDEACT" to 222 and internet stops and you are not charged until you reactivate it. Usually it will be Rs.450 for whole month @Rs.15 per day but I pay only around 200 to 250 by deactivating when I dont need. Isn't that cool. AIRTEL ROCKS Few may ask me why I am putting AIRTEL Internet Information here? Its simply to compare RELIANCE GPRS with AIRTEL GPRS. Or you can say CDMA to EDGE. Hope reliance pals are reading this and it may have positive effect in future. Who know what will happen in future even to GPRS, coz 3G is just round the corner. So lets keep discussing. C. I dont see any point asking so many questions asking in a thread for which answers are in the same thread. this thread itself have all the information about EDGE and many links to EDGE Definition pages. Will you please care to read the thread before asking questions? Please dont ask for spoonfeeding. You are forgiven for first and last time guessing you are a new member. Hai Mahendra, Dont over estimate your self please take care of your language be humble.........Please....... hey spknair how did I overestimated myself. just asked him to read the same thread from beginning for all his questions. looks like you are overestimating yourself. Instead of going berzerk on me you could have guided the new people. You could have explained him about what is edge and 3g instead of asking him "are you a newbie in the world of mobile?" Now I call it superiority complex. Dont act oversmart with me. ok? Do your own thing and dont poke your dirty nose in others issues. your useless comment was completely not necessary among this technical discussion. better take care next time. -

cmahendra replied to PUTTAMREDDY's topic in Data services
@dear harshad please dont believe me. as u r in internet world. you must do your own homework too. just type cdma in google and see what information you get from all over the world. not only this, search CDMA SPEED in this forum. there are more than 100 technicians who have already posted so many technical things about cdma and edge (gprs on gsm) too. all information is in common man language to understand. as you are new member just a suggestion, always search for information in forum and when you dont get it only then post questions here, to keep forum clean and not cluttered with repeat queries. and yes, u have to keep habit of understanding wrongly composed sentenses and wrongly spelled words too -
Reliance Usb Data Card Modem Vs Reliance 350r
cmahendra replied to PUTTAMREDDY's topic in Data services
@Harshad. Currently CDMA does not have any existing or supporting technology that can give more than 144kbps (kilobits) So your mentioned speed (809kbps) is impossible if you are using CDMA connection. If your network is pure and clean in a particular area at a particular time, you may get around 144 to 154kbps, as per reliance. Now how you got 3mb song in 5 seconds is mystery, may be part of it was already downloaded in earlier trials and resumed later. Remeber when you RESUME PAUSED download the starting speed it show like anything, which is wrong average of whole filezise devided by seconds of current session of download. Most of us have such experience. One more thing, when you start fresh Download, any downloader shows the irregular speed due to the first attempt PING which is sometimes very high or low for some moment, but once the download goes above 10 to 20 seconds, the downloader can effectively start showing the average speed of last few seconds which can be qualified as stable download speed of that particular moment. So you can simply ignore the speed shown in first 10 seconds. But yes sometimes you are just lucky on ADSL or CABLENET. They cap our size with limited speed but the servers simply goof up at some occassions and we get UNCAPPED spped for quiet some times. It happens sometimes that at ISP end, engineers might be working on main server and for few minutes or even hours the connections shifts on backup DNS/ProxyDNS servers, hence we get very high speed (also called UnCapped) internet. It also happens when the managed switches at ISP end do not work properly and you get UNMANAGED SPEEDS. I remember this happened with me at many times on several occassions. I had DishNet DSL (also called DishNET DTH) connection in 2002/03, the speed I opted was something around 128kbps (highest then) and for first few days I literelly got more than 800 to 900 kbps speed and as I already was used to DU Meter, I noticed the difference very quick. Later I found it was happening very late nights after 12 (midnight) for few hours. That time the DATA TRANSFER was not counted and not charged. I downloaded at least 10 gb in one week. And was on NAPSTER all night. Later after 2/3 weeks it stopped suddenly. In another few times, I got more than 1 mbps speed on MTNL Triband when they just started few years back, but that was completely unpredictable, you never know when it shoots up. Thanks to MTNL enginners. And see, this year they started 2mbps high speed BROADBAND for common people connection too but with DATA TRANSFER LIMIT. So its all luck. You never know .....SOMETIMES YOU GET HIGH SPEED AND MANY A TIMES YOU GET HIGH BILLS Congratulations for getting birth in India PS: DISHNET DTH was merged into TATA INDICOM one or two year before the VSNL was merged into TATA. -
