Yes. JIO 4G on Band 5 (850 MHz) works out of the box. But no VoLTE, only data.

Switch to GSM. Tata is also shutting down bit by bit. So, does this mean they are keeping one carrier for 1X?
-
It is pretty much confirmed in the three circles I've mentioned.
-
At a very remote location currently. Rcdma 1x is what is keeping me connected. Not even bsnl is available here. While I am sad that rcdma is shutting down, it was excellent while it lasted.

How to use BSNL CDMA RUIM on imported CDMA phones
ti_user replied to dr.faramroze's topic in Technical / OS related
Mtnl has shutdown CDMA (1x Garuda) sometime back in Mumbai and Delhi. -
Yes. Excellent coverage except underground parts of Metro. Tata has highest number of CDMA bts in Delhi. But, keep in mind, it might shut down. Already shutting down in Mumbai, AP and UPE on 30th June.
-
Confirmed with distributor and CC, 30th June is last date for CDMA in MUM, AP and UPE. Already many sites have been shut down in Mumbai, many places have very poor CDMA signal. Tata CDMA was the best network in Mumbai earlier. GSM is pretty good within the city, but only 2G.

Share / Request Reliance JIO Invites

Are invites still available? -
Didn't get the time. Will update in a day or two.
-
Looks like. Will pay tata distributor a visit tomorrow to get a better idea.
-
Forward to any other GSM number for time being, and carry both. CC told me CDMA has been shut in WB, but I was able to use 1X completely fine at most rural places.

I wonder why Tata needs LTE. They don't even have enough spectrum, right? Plus, their EV revB works great in Mumbai and Delhi.
-
RGSM fallback must be used. They have no other option apart from VoLTE otherwise.
-
There is no CDMA or GSM for LTE, it's only the fallback that is either. By using entire Band 5 for LTE, rcom doesn't plan on keeping any spectrum for 1X fallback, by the looks of it. Since the fallback will be to GSM 2G or 3G, us CDMA folks needs to switch. But, given RGSM's 'great' network, I'm thinking of switching to airtel or Vodafone. Sent from my D6502 using Tapatalk

Upgrading to LTE will require 1X to be shut down. If phone doesn't support LTE, it will become useless. Sent from my D6502 using Tapatalk

1X only, but coverage is superb, better than other operators. Only issue is rcdma is shutting down soon, so there's that. Sent from my D6502 using Tapatalk

RCDMA hasn't even planned to shut down in South, so your friend is correct. But what about the north circles, no RCDMA in Punjab, Haryana and HP means that it is useless for a lot of folks living in NCR, me included. TATA has scaled down severely in HP, so can't even switch to that.
-
You won't get them at a store, as RCOM no longer sells that series.

Tata 250 recharge is awesome. Only call rates can't beat RCOM. -
Network is pretty good with Aircel ICR.

Just went to Pune last month with my Mumbai RGSM number. 3G worked flawlessly on DoCoMo via ICRA. Network needs to be selected manually. It doesn't switch automatically. Sent from my D6502 using Tapatalk

Yes. Rcom with tata+Aircel ICRA is quite good in Mum-MH. They're still killing RCDMA bit by bit. For CDMA, TATA is the carrier to go for Mum+MH. More BTSs than RCDMA in either circle.

Motorola Phones: Reliance CDMA Data Issue On Android 4.4 Kitkat
ti_user replied to vakharia's topic in Motorola
Data stopped working on all my RECRU06 sims. Even tried in old Samsung OMH (Galaxy Y). No change. Switched to TI. No time to deal with RCOM nonsense.- 64 replies
