  1. Alcatel Launches Cheap Touchscreen Phones Alcatel might not ring a bell when it comes to cellphones. Nevertheless, the company does have a range of low-end, high volume handsets on sale that could do well with some publicity. The company has added two new handsets, the OT-707 and the OT-800, directed at the low-end segment, to its range of mobile phones. Now, if you were expected, plain-Jane, boring handsets that might not want to be caught dead with, you might as well take your thoughts back. This is because what Alcatel has on offer is one touch screen and one full QWERTY phone - both features usually spotted on higher end devices. The OT-707, Alcatel's first ever touch screen device is quite a looker and will leave most first time handlers impressed. On the features front, this one has a 2.3-inch TFT display, Dual band GSM/GPRS connectivity (900/1800 MHz), a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth with A2DP, 10MB of internal memory. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, this one's a touch screen and is expected to be priced at around the $120 (Rs. 6,233 approx.) mark. The other phone to be announced is the OT-800, which sports a full QWERTY keyboard with a QVGA display, 2megapixel camera and Triband connectivity. Oh and there is FM Radio with RDS as well. The OT-800 too will be priced around the $120 mark. There is no word as to when we can expect these devices to be on sale. http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Alcatel...-99616-893.html

  11. New XpressMusic Handset 5630 It’s been a while since Nokia has been in the news but that could also be because of LG’s KM900 and Samsung’s plethora of handsets making their way to MWC. Nokia has in fact announced an addition to their music range of handsets – the 5630XpressMusic. This candy-bar styled, rather simplistic looking handset runs on a Symbian OS with an S60 UI and is equipped with - a 3 megapixel camera AF camera (LED flash) 2.2-inch TFT LCD (240 x 320 pixels) N-Gage Gaming MicroSD card support (up to 16GB) 3.5mm earphone socket Wi-Fi EDGE/GPRS, 3G (HSDPA) Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 FM radio with RDS Apart from these, the 5630 will also feature Nokia’s 'Say and Play' function that will let users simply speak the name of the song or artist and the handset will locate and play the track. This handset is also bundled with Nokia’s 'Comes with Music' tag where it’s available already. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic’s new tweaked homescreen shows the Contacts Bar that allows direct access to up to 20 friends or business contacts straight from there and provides a full communication history with these contacts including recent emails, messages, phone logs and photos shared. A shortcuts bar at the bottom of the homescreen also gives quick access to the most frequently used applications including music, radio, Web, N-Gage and photos. This is all very similar to the 5800’s but in a more confined space of course. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic should start making its way to shelves by the second quarter of this year with a price tag of about Rs. 12, 575 (200 EURO) exclusive of subsidies and taxes and a bundled 4GB microSD card. http://tech2.in.com/india/news/smart-mobil...handset/59532/0

  14. Dudes... I got this info from mail I didn't tried ....Just wanted to share with u njoy (Car Owners plz go through Point no. 2 it's really useful) VERY USEFUL & interesting about your mobile... :-) Would you like to know if your mobile is original or not ????? Press the following on your mobile *#06# and the-international mobile equipment identity number appears. Then check the 7th and 8th numbers: Phone serial no. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 th 8 th 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 02 or 20 this means your cell phone was assembled in Emirates which is very Bad quality IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 08 or 80 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Germany which is fair quality IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 01 or 10 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Finland which is very Good IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 00 this means your cell phone was manufactured in original factory which is the best Mobile Quality IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 13 this means your cell phone was assembled in Azerbaijan which is very Bad quality and also dangerous for your health THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: - (1 ) EMERGENCY * The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112 ..* If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.** (2) Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk). Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!'* (3) Hidden Battery power Imagine your cell battery is very low , you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time. AND (4 ) How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone? To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 # A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
