K if U R doing to a clean install of Xp then I don't think my suggestions are anymore relevant. I think U shouldn't have any of those partially installed driver problems then
-
Yeah Karper already suggested one option. But I am begining to think that U R unable to remove all the traces of the third party driver(s) U installed and that is the root cause of the problem. In the last post of this topic U asked which driver to select when asked for ser2pl.sys I think the corresponding entry is FTSERIAL.SYS but I fear that windows should have actally asked for FTSERIAL.SYS So older driver info is still in registry. I really don't know how to remove that unless U have a Uninstaller bundled with that setup which installed this ser2pl.sys driver once. U may try to remove all the regsitry keys containing this entry (ser2pl.sys , Prolific and USB-to-Serial) manually from regedit but only if U R comfortable with regsitry editing and after backing up regsitry.

Tecgnically YES but practically may not harm - unless RIMWEB is harming them or is misleading that it is part of Relianc group etc) May be if one is so much concerned a small addition can be made at the end REliance India Mobile Discussion Forum (Unofficial) Letters in bracket can be used with a small font.

So karpar U mean to say U don't have "MAT USB-to-Serial Bridge". If so then ranjan has to uninstall that one from device manager and start over again (Step 1 to 15 I mentioned above).
-
Here is the property sheet of the USB Serial Port (COM4) driver.

Yeah once a unsigned device f**ts on XP. No more automatic Install untill U either do a succesful manual Install or a System Restore to a Previous point (If U had enabled it and have a suitable restore Point) or do a clean Reinstall of XP itself. So back to the dark area of manual Install... First attempt: Just click the setup again(don't uninstall anything) and select U phone model 2030 I guess and USB. Now connect the USB cable. run the setup. No wonder it should fail and exit. Now do the step 9 to 15 mentioned in my earlier post. If U have any probs let me know. If the connection that is setup fails (or U don't have a option like LG USB modem at all -- Unlikely) then follow this post below for some troubleshooters: First of all U may consider taking a break for a day from this setup buisiness. I know U must have gone *mad* installing-Uninstalling that. In your screenshot what is MAT USB-to-Serial Bridge (COM3)? In mine I see: "USB Serial Port (COM4)" in it's place. I am placing a screenshot of it's prperties below(next post). So I am wondering if U tried installing a third party USB-Serial driver at any point? and that it is left behind and occupying Ur COM3 thereby preventing the install of the FTDI driver that comes with R-Connect setup*. Some one else with the latest R-Connect setup can check in their device manager and help ranjan2001 regarding this. If it proves not to be the one I suggest U uninstall that and then try again.. (U can remove that from the device manager itself(Rt click-> Remove) and reinstall. If it is not part of the Reliance R-Connect package it won't come back :)and U R confirmed of the problem. Now I ask U one more last question. Did U select the choice of Ur modem as COM during the setup run after Reboot as karpar suggested ? Never do that as Ur USB driver is in partial trouble and device(phone) won't be detected. Select USB only even if that mean's - the setup ending with a error. Also I show U the screenshot of my device manager which shows three things: 1. LG USB MODEM - under modems 2. USB Serial Port (COM4) 3. USB High speed Serial Converter - Under Universal Serial Bus controllers. I can't see the third one in Ur's as U haven't expanded that branch of the tree. Check that it is there. I think U r really close to complete the setup. Good Luck again. Can I ask what City are U from ranjan2001 if U don't mind?

HotGuy - I really - Really wish that it happens. Once errors start buiding up that won't work anymore

In my case LG 7130 it has become - though very little. Last time I visited LG service I got it fit though.
-
Don't know if this fits well to this thread. But I saw that a modified version (Root patched) of GAGIN shows the files in 7130 (I know bitpim already does) but may be some on can try it on LG 2130 and Samsung to see if the ringtone folder is seen I am attaching it in a zip file split in two parts. NB: If moderators have any objection to this kind of file. Please delete it. No need to prior inform me. BREW_Root.zip

OK sometimes this happens (Yes stupid XP) - Infact just a day back I was stuck up like this (very much vexing problem - I was about to uninstall windows XP ). So.. Also reconnect other USB and serial devices back and Reboot. It was a bit long description. Go through carefully. Hope it helps some Good Luck. Edit: BTW I don't think selecting the serial option is gonna helpas it will no doubt install the modem but.. it will be on COM1 and NOT on Virtual COM port i.e COM3 or COM4 So it won't work.

Same problem with 7130 color handset. After upgrading s/w (infact whole board in my case) R-world was fully working. Gradually one after the other newer applications - started to falter. Initially Reset Rmenu and clear memory worked. After some time even these start failing. Now next step is to go to LG service center and have a reburn of R-world to clear all the cache - Initially these people will protest that it has nothing to do wth the phone and may be a network/signal strength prob etc etc. After convincing them once they do it - Voila everything works well for a time - Only to reaccumulate the errors. I think deleting those jar/jad helps but I am afraid to do that now as I only recently got a new board. (Reset R-menu after a time will not delete them - I think they are marked old or somethin so that a new version overwrites - but somewhere in the code - I guess there is a bug). Also note that if U exit the apps properly rather than pressing the END button to come out of R-world this problem doesn't occur __ but sometimes if the phone hangs U R forced to do that.

Here are the values that I think may help gtran_rocks and everyone: LG RD 7130 ======== EarPhone = 31 Ohms. (First and second Pin) Mic = 1.74 k Ohms. (First and Third pin) LG RD 2030 - First One. ======== EarPhone = 31 Ohms.(First and second Pin) Mic = 1.57 k Ohms. (First and Third pin) LG RD 2030 - Another One. ======== EarPhone = 31.5 Ohms..(First and second Pin) Mic = 1.69 k Ohms.(First and Third pin) Shorting Resistance (between pin 1 and Pin 3 when U press the button) was approx 0.4 ohm (wire resistenace and was almost similar in all the three). All the above are LG OEMs and relatively new handsfree sets. No likelyhood of wear and tear and loose contacts causing erroneous values and all are working fine Also I see that the diffrence between the two Mic impedenace is less than 10% and may not be significant. If Ur Gtran gives out similar Values (likely it shoud give) then I see no reason why it should harm.

I think the game url is labelled as 7130_color or something as I had seen in the jad files sometime back. DOn't know if there is a link appropriate for GRAN and that may be the cause of the problem.

A wrong driver won't install anyway. Even if a right driver is used .... at the step U mentioned what error do U get after U install the driver manually - using the windows wizard ?? Does it say driver installation failed?? If so U can try one thing. even if it says so close it. Now goto modems in Control Panel and add a New Modem - In the list U will find LG USB modem. Select that and set it up. Now crate a Dialup connection manually - using that modem set the dialup number to #777 and Ur mdn No as user/pass. If I am on the right track of Ur prob - I can try to help U more. Good Luck

Hi Bored I think what U R referring is for 2030 only. In 7130 the moment I update the rt it plays the new one. Only the header file content will show up properly after reboot. I think it is loaded in the RAM and to reload from the embedded file system U need to Reboot. There may/should be a refresh command too which we don't know. karpar - I was reffering to 7130 (LG color) wallpapers don't know about 2030 _ I don't think it will show up more than 3 as a friend of mine had said.

I don't think that it should really matter. When the charger is ON the potential difference at the battery terminals is slightly(very slightly) higher than the battery(this gradient chrages the battery) - so most of the power supplied to the mobile is in effect direct fron the charger. Also these memory stuff is for Ni-Mh batteries rather than Lithium ion which RIMs are shpped with.

Hi gtran_rocks I don't know anyone around who has GTRAN so can't test. Also I never tried the one with FM for LG (Honestly I didn't know it exists). As for LG 2030 and 7130 handsfree both have a 2.5mm stereo jack for plugging into the phone and a button on the cable near the earpiece to dial the latest call or to end a call being answered. If GTRAN has a similar pins then I think it should work.
-
I just tested it to work fine here in both Directions. 7130 cable with 2030 and vice versa.

Thanks for that info info vingan

I will try that for U - will let u know by evening But I want to tell U that the one that comes with 7130 (color Life's Good - I mean LG) set is too short although it has a extra thread to wear aroung the neck.

I searched for "Reliance" + "Mobile" + "Forum" in Google As far as I remember it was not in the Top entries though.. May be U can add a meta tag with above contents as I think it is one of the commonly searched terms

Yeah but we have to bear with it - I guess none of us want to see Rimweb going down or Arun facing problems for his generous contribution to and making this site to help all of us.

Thanks Mastermind for that logo - a few suggestions though - I din't know then that U made it. I will send U a PM
