Reliance To Offer Handsets At Rs 777
ctrl_alt_del replied to coolrajiv's topic in Reliance Communications
As far as the quality of Classic handsets by ZTE are concerned. here is what I wrote yesterday. -
The Classic handset made by ZTE that I have been using was dogged qith a few problems. The first and foremost was the signal strength. Calls would drop randomly. Moving an inch in some areas will result in a loss of signal completely. There is no concept of weak signal. Its either in full strength or not at all. Even if the signal is full, the calls can drop at any given moment. Battery backup os very very poor to say the least. Once one bar drops, the others follow suite very rapidly. So while you may be happy that you still have three bars left for the battery but they wont even last you 10 mins of talktime. Mind you, this is teh condition in the B & W set with no extra features to boast of. So I doubt if the latest ones with more features on board will be able to sustain it with such a measely battery backup. And yes, I checked the handsets and they have the same battery that my cell has...or had, as I threw away that one recently. Good riddance. And finally the HUGELY annoying problem of the handset heating up. And by heating up, I mean its equivalent to the X Box 360 kind of heating up, where you can literally cook something on it. Many times my ears have been heated to the point of becoming ear tandoor of some kind. Ear Babecue anyone? Thats my opinion about Classic handsets made by ZTE. Others are free to differ.

Nope, all the games were pirated copies complete with working cracks as well. You just need to mount the ISO and play the games. They claimed that they were doing a great favor to gaming community by giving away games for free but thats plain bull****.

No wait...you dont need to reflash it or anything. Its a known problem with Boss handset. Infact I cracked my head on it a lot. Just give me a day. I will have the soluion for you by tomorrow. My friend had the same handset and he told me to enable it. Its tucked away in a remote setting totally unrelated to ringer function. I swear I will have the solution by tomorrow.

Thanks God, I am s relieved that I don't know this guy. Dont want to be on the receiving end of his SMS Tsunami! Thats the problem with people. They fail to realize how much a nuisance can there "forward to 10 ppl for good luck" messages can be, record or no record. Such people ought to have their cell phones confiscated. If he is so desperate to create a record, why the hell cant get get another 5 cells and keep sending messages to them without having to bother unsuspecting friends and relatives. I will be surprised if he has any friend left to celebrate his record with!

Area Code Finder - CDMA and GSM Networks

Been using it for a while now. Never got a chance to say how much useful they have proved for me. So here I am thanking both of you for these wonderful utilities. -
I wont really mind the jingle if I get to save some bucks. Hell, I am willing to endure two more if they allow me to make STD calls as well. Btw, what will be the duration of free call? I think they will limit the duration to say 10 mins after which you will have to disconnect, call back, listen to the jingle and then talk.

I have been trying to figure out a way to send free sms from my RIM to my gf's RIM but to no avail. But I think I might have finally stumbled upon a way to be able to send free unlimited sms between two Airtel numbers at a monthly commitment of just 15/- for each number. It would be great if anyone of you could check it out to see if the whole thing works. I once reported about the sms2mail service provided by Airtel here. At that time, I was able to send mails from my mail account to my gf's Airtel number in from of sms. But she was unable to send back mail to my Gmail account through her SMS facility. Finally I figured out a way to do so. Now I think if we merge it together in the way I am going to list, we may be able to use for unlimted SMSing between two Airtel numbers. Here is how I think it can be done. Step 1. Sunscribe to the sms2mail facility offered by Airtel. It costs 15/-p.m. which is deducted automatically every month. As soon as you subscribe to it, you will recieve an SMS detailing how to use it. Step 2. Suppose your no. is 09860 XXXXXX, then your email ID becomes 919860XXXXXX@smsairtel.com Step 3. You will recieve the ID in form of an SMS along with a password and a link similar to this. Step 4. Now click on the link which will take you to the Login page. Input your email ID and the password. Step 5. On the left side, you will be able to see "Address Book". Click on it. Step 6. Now on the right side, in the bottom, you will find two buttons, "Delete" and "New". Click on "New". Step 7. You will have a new window in front of you with two boxes, one for E-Mail Alias and another for E-Mail ID. Fill the alias box with a short name and the E-mail ID with the ID of the person you want to send mail to via SMS. Like if you want to send mail to abc@yahoo.com, add it in the box. Finally click on "Add" to see it in the adress box. Step 8: Now you are done. You can now send mail to the concerned person through SMS. You will recieve the instructions for it as well in the SMS. Step 9. If anyone wants to send you a mail, he/she can send it to 919860XXXXXX@smsairtel.com and you will recieve it as an SMS. All this has been tested and working perfectly well for the last one month. Now you must be wondering how to send free SMS between two Airtel numbers. This is where I need your help in testing the procedure. What I think is that the two numbers should each suscribe to the service as detailed. Then when it comes to adding the mail IDs, each can add the other persons "smsairtel" ID. This way, when one sends a mail to that persons ID, it will be routed through the "smsairtel" server and then delivered in form of an SMS on the other persons SMS. I hope I haven't confused you all. Any queries, kindly post. I am not 100% sure if it will work but there is no harm in trying!

LOL! Cody is not my real name. Actually it is a nave given by few friends at another member where I am a regular visitor. Like you, they too had trouble having to type out such a long nick, so they shortened it to Cody. -
Guys, recently my girlfriend subscribed to the sms2mail service offered by Airtel. For 15/- a month, the facility offered access to your emails via sms. The service offered your phone number as your email ID i.e. if your number 9860XXXXXX, then your email ID will be 919860XXXXXX@smsairtel.com Any mail sent to this ID will be instantly delivered to your sms box. Now whenever I send her mails, she is getting them promptly. However, she is unable to send me any emails through her cell phone. Whenever she tries to mail me a reply, she gets an error saying something about some default configuration not being specified ( I will post the exact error later, I seem to have forgotten it ). If any one else is using the same facility, kindly guide me in this regard. As she is in Mumbai and I am in Bhubaneshwar, I can't guide her as to what to do. Any other users of the same service from the Maha circle, kindly tell me how to get over this problem. Thanks in advance.

Ok, so here is the procedure. It's pretty straight forward. Just send "SUB" (without quotes) to 8282. You will recieve a confirmatory message with your password and the link to your mailbox. It's as simple as that. See, without paying you are getting to send SMS to Airtel numbers for free using mail. However, if you pay 15/-, you are getting the ability to be able to send mails from your phone to a mail ID. So you see, probably they are charging 15/- for the ability to send out unlimted e-mails using your Airtel SMS service.

It's as simple as that. @Mahendra: In all probability, the fee they are charging is for the ability to both recieve emails as sms and send emails as SMS. The free procedures that you have talked about only involve recieving sms via email. So maybe that's why they have not been charged. There are no documents to scan. My gf recieved the message from Airtel detailing the offer when she was in Mumbai. That's where she suscribed to it. Now she is back in Pune and the service is functioning as it should be. I don't know why no one else knows about it. Maybe she was randomly picked up for demo run before the service is launched for the masses. Besides, I really haven't given it a much thought as to why no one else knows about it. As long as it saves my sms money, I am happy. I detailed the plan so that if it works for others, well and good. Otherwise, no harm done. ...And you can call me Cody. -
@cmahendra: Guess this thread escaped your attention. Today I figured out how to be able to recieve SMS from her on my mail ID. It was really very easy. I would have figured it out earlier had I paid more attention to it the last time I visited the site. Anyway, go through that thread of mine. It will be quite an eye-opener. And if you can test what I have proposed, I would be much indebted. As for how to subscribe to the service, give me sometime. I will talk with my gf in the evening and report back with the exact instructions on how to subscribe to the service. As far as I remember, one is supposed to send "SUB" to 8284 or some number to subscribe to the service. There after, 15/- is deducted automatically every month. Like I said, give me time till evening. I will be back with the exact procedure.

Airtel Full Talktime Top Up Card For Pune

So no one has any idea about Airtel's Top-Up? Can someone atleast find me a table that shows how much talktime is available for how mucg of e-recharge? -
Yeah, it isint mentioned anywhere on the Airtel site. However save for the outgoing email facility, it has been working perfectly. Great way for me to save money on SMS. As I have access to Internet 24X7, I can SMS her anytime. Her Airtel number is of Pune. As of now, she is in Mumbai for her MBA project and that's where she subscribed to the service.

I have no idea but I would be much obliged if some one can help me in this regard.

Thanks for the price update guys. Any chances that the price may fall in the coming few months? I plan to but one sometime in July. Also since it doesn't have an external display to show who is calling, how do you know who is calling before you decide to pick it up? I mean, say you have an incoming call, you dont know who is calling, so if you flip open the phone, is the call automatically recieved? Or do you have to press the accept button or something like that after flipping open the phone?

Whats its current price?

Guys, I need urgent help. A friend of mine has a RIM LG 2340 phone, around 9 months old. Suddenly now a problem has cropped up. It's asking to remove the headset even when there is none plugged in, in the first place. Infact, she has never used a headset on the phone. Changing profile doesn't help, it keeps on asking the same thing. Shutting down the phone and restarting didn't help either. When someone calls her, the phone rings and if she accepts the call, she can't hear anything. I am completely baffled. As she is in Mumbai, I cant help her without seeing the phone as I have never used this particular model. Can anyone help me out here? Has anyone faced a smiliar problem? Owners of LG 2340 please help!!! EDIT:Guys, I found the solution. Inserting and removing a headset solved the problem. I request the Mod Team to kindly delete or lock the topic.

Maybe its not too late for me to introduce myself. I am Abhinav from Cuttack, in my final year of engineering in I.T. I will be graduating in a couple of months and then move to B'lore to join a company that I has recruited me. I find this place very informative for anything RIM related and then some more. Hats off to everyone who contributes here.

Seems like its a trail and error method for the cheap versions. I tried one of those but it wouldnt detect my 2112.
