Do you mean even Dish would employ a FileSystem which cannot be read from Laptop/Computer ? If that is the case, then it is the same as other DVRs. But I think FAT32 would go with most of the portable devices. Plz. verify this because if Dish enables portability, its most desirable feature. Your third point of portability - cannot plug the hdd to some other STB - are you sure about it ? Have you checked that ? Just for your ref. NO DVR allows copy through USB. I agree with your calculation. Then the only advantage to move to this device is, if you already have a HDD then instead of going for SD set top box, one should go for HD one.

This is something amazing ! May be revolutionary. Reason: No DVR is coming with attach-your-own HDD. There are reviews available on the net where people tried to fix their own HDD but it didnt work because of proprietary hardware. Secondly, no DVR has the capability to copy the recordings and they have their own filesystem which prohibit you to do the same. In this, since HDD is detachable and may be with knows file system, you can always do that. This opens up another possibility - play recordings on any machine, which is lacking in any other DVR. Fake company ??? - How ? May be your perception. We used Dish for since 2002 before going to TATA Sky just 3 months back just because HD DVR was not available with Dish. it's just HD box with USB port, and software update, which enable recording. - True. And no other company provides that facility because then they cannot loot you. This feature should be considered as revolutionary in that sense. there is nothing in Set top box to record live content, - The first post states contrary to this. Have you checked the set top box on your own ? You need buy external USB pen drive or HDD to record.- And that is the reason that the set top box is priced at Rs. 2690 unlike to Tata Sky or Airtel which are Rs. 6000 with Max 500 GB recording. compared to current tata sky +HD or airtel HD {DVR}, it no where in competiton. - I agree. No offence, but this revolutionary product cannot match the tactics employed by Tata and Airtel. I have both of them. Then, it should be the expected behavior. I know that you are using it. As per the article, it doesnt hamper anything but steals your IMEI number etc and uploads it to some server. The only problem with this is that the IMEI number can be misused or c.l.o.n.x.d.

Does this mean Idea be affected in Maharashtra ? I am using it. Dont know what will be their game plan now. I ported from Vodafone to it some 2 months back because they offered amazing corporate plan.

Tried to download UniversalAndroot-1.6.2-beta5 but TREND MICRO OfficeScan blocked it citing "Dangerous" Risk Level. Can anybody check it with virus scanner and find what is wrong with the file ? Should I still download it (on other machine where OfficeScan is not installed) and put it on my mobile ? Update: Searched about the AndroidOS_LOTOOR.C and variants detecte by TREND. And found that it steals the IMEI and IMSI numbers along with device type. Complete article is here Conclusion: the file is really infected with virus/malware. @Nitin, be careful. Thanks Rajanbhai. However, the charger is not faulty, I still use it to charge the LG and Blackberry phones without any problem. I hope the phone will start working in the evening. But the lesson I learnt is that all micro USB chargers are not same. Just checked the rating on LG charger : Output 5.6V 0.4A, The samsung charger for which you gave link is 0.7A. - I guess, higher ampere is required for Motorola too.

My wife gave me XT800 on my birthday. After using LG 3600 (3 years) and Karbonn (2 years), this feels like haven I faced a typical problem yesterday. Wasn't able to download any App from Android Market. But was able to solve the problem. Right now, I am facing a new problem. The phone charges with a micro usb charger. I used the original charger day before yesterday and it charged properly. Assuming that all micro usb chargers are same, I used LG's micro USB charger last night (because LG has long wire) and I checked that the phone was showing that it was being charged. In the morning I came to office and when checked the phone was not ON. It seems that the phone didnt charge last night. I tried Jawbone's micro USB by connecting it to my laptop to charge this mobile. But the display is not coming up. Right now, I dont have the original charger. Does this mean all the micro USB chargers not same ? Have I killed my phone's charging mechanism by exposing it to a wrong charger for long time ?

Rajanbhai, Any deal on Jawbone ICON series blutooth ? I searched on various websites in US and they are in the range of 28 to 35 USD. But couldnt find anything in India.

Olive Nexus is a 3G router. It doesnt support wired BSNL broadband line (ADSL). I came across a device of Techroutes having both the capabilities but it costs 7k+. Update: Sorry, I checked Olive's website, it shows that the ADSL is also supported. However, it doesnt have a built-in modem. So If I have to use it at home, I need to buy a modem first and then need to use Olive Nexus, which I think a costly affair than going to a ADSL2 + Wifi router like TP-Link. Let me know if there is any other view.

I would like to revive this thread. I am also looking a Bluetooth device which I can use inside helmet or in a running bus. I need to participate in conference calls while coming back from office. The prime requirement is noise cancelling/NoiseAssasin/Voice Isolation and A2DP. I searched the net and found that Jawbone, Plantronics and BlueAnt are the brands which can support the requirement. But confused between many models. I would like to spend no more than Rs.2000 or USD 50. I can see Jawbone 2 is available on Amazone for USD 35. BlueAnt z9 for USD 24 Can you guys suggest something here ?

I ported my secondary number of Vodafone to Idea. Time taken, 2 weeks. Vodafone wanted to know which operator I was going to. But I tried not to reveal it. I simply told them that my office is forcing me to go for the CUG plan and would go where my office does the deal. Migrated just because Idea is giving me a corporate plan. 1000 free minutes(Local, Std, Roaming), 400 Free SMS, 100 MB data, Idea-2-Idea 30 ps, Others 40 ps. Std & LL 50 ps... All at Rs. 245/month.
