Instead of paying to net-to-phone solution, go for an additional SIM like Uninor (STV Rs. 23), where u can call 1p/sec even to US/UK/Canada and the max rate is 11p/sec for the Gulf. However, I still use GT for calling to US/Canada because its free.

MNP: Last Nail In The Coffin For CDMA?
MOBILE FAN replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
^^^ The only benefit right now is R2R free, provided you have such plans. However, now I am too considering to make a move. I am strong supporter of RCDMA but now I have an option - A corporate plan which would offer me 1.20Lac seconds/month free on any network all over India including roaming + 300 mb data usage. All for Rs. 399/month. Corrected for typo. -
Cheapest EVDO on BSNL CDMA Prepaid
MOBILE FAN replied to abhilove1984's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
There are plenty of cases where evdo tower's proximity doesnt help in getting any good speed. So dont assume that. You may take a trial by getting some friend's evdo to test at your place. 1x is slightly better than GPRS. You will be able to use 1x for all the purpose that you mentioned. However, at times 1x gets so slow that you cant do anything. -
Cheapest EVDO on BSNL CDMA Prepaid
MOBILE FAN replied to abhilove1984's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I had BSNL EVDO approx. a year back. The speed was verying heavily in different parts of the city. I was getting very less speed. My plan was Rs. 650 unlimited. But then I stopped it and got Reliance Netconnect Broadband+. Which is much much batter. Though, BSNL evdo is cheap, the speed is the concern. -

The Airtel increase is only for Prepaid customers. I dont understand, why the customers will not use MNP for the cheaper tariff. -

I tried to register some 4 days back. I got the SMS instantly but no email. Then I tried once again 2 days back but since then it is showing - "The E-Ticketing Services Has Gone Under Maintenance. Inconveniences Caused Deeply Regretted." Is this a site, really wanted to server passengers ? -

^^^ If 2 and 3 are correct, Investmentyogi is using a logic from previous year. And in that case everyone should stay away from it.

I tried to use investmentyogi and taxsmile both. And that is the reason I am still awake However, I got confused at three things: 1. Investmentyogi calculates penal interest as described in post #2 while for the same data taxsmile is not doing so. 2. Bank Interest income of Rs. 3500 is getting exempted in Investmentyogi while that is not the case with taxsmile. 3. Donation under 80G gets 100% deduction in Investmentyogi but in taxsmile it gets 50% deduction. I think I should go with the site where I have advantage

I am having Airtel DVR (not HD) but it is 720p. I bought it some 15 months back. At that time the only available HD DVR was BIG. I am not a fan of LCDs in absence of significant HD content, so wanted to stay with my cool Sony CRT. That was the reason I did not go for HD DVR. But one thing is for sure - DVR is the best thing that has ever happened after mobile phones. I always watch programs in recorded fashion and if I have to see live, I see it with a delay of 5 minutes. The advantage- just skip all the Ads. TV watching now, is amazing without any disturbance or break, saves a lot of time. A 30 minute Tarak Mehta now takes hardly 19 min. But then I discovered this problem with Airtel DVR and found out that except BIG, all other providers have the same problem. Say for example, you have subscribed to Star Movies in the month of July. You recorded some movies from that channel. And then say you unsubscribed the channel in Aug. Now, if you want to play the recorded content of Star Movies, it will not play ! I fought at all levels but the only response I got - it was because of the copyright issue. You have this freedom only with BIG. Only BIG respects your rights, others - copyright. However, Airtel is the least expensive in terms of subscription, if you are not going to go for the highest package. At highest level all are nearly the same. Now, I strongly recommend only BIG HD DVR. Have freedom, have fun.

HTC Imagio, LG Fathom and HTC Ozone HTC Imagio and LG Fathom both have good specs. Please make sure you buy unlocked for GSM versions. Edited : They are not dual standby phones. Both GSM and CDMA can not be used simultaneosly. Does that mean, at a time only one is active ? Or you mean both will be standby at once but while one connection is active the other cannot be simultaneously. Is HTC Ozone dual standby ?- 6,376 replies

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware
MOBILE FAN replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Hi Parth, Thanks for your input. I think ordering on IFB's site is at Rs. 1000 discount on the market prices (sales india price). But the most important thing is the after sales service. I guess, you didnt need it in last 6-8 months. However, do you know anybody in Ahmedabad who used IFB's services specially for Dishwasher ? @RajanMehta, You are right, having a maid has always been good. But now ageing parents' dependence on maids causes security issues. Also, I dont like my parents to give more importance to maids than to me Besides, once used to dishwasher cleaning, people dont like hand washing at all. I have a friend in Pune using IFB, know many Indians in US and UK successfully using these machines. I agree that vessels arrangement is something to learn initially to use these machines. However, above all, I dont want my mom to spend her energies and time on cleaning vessels.- 6,376 replies

Irresistable Deals In Electronics, Gadgets, Mobiles, PC Hardware
MOBILE FAN replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
I need to buy a Dishwasher for my mother in Ahmedabad. I checked on net and mainly IFB, Seimens and LG are the main player in this segment. Heir has entered in this segment a couple of months back. I checked all of them in showrooms. They are mostly similar in built and looks. All of them come in the range of 28 to 30k except one LG model which is at 39k. The netizens are divided on these machines mainly on their after sales service and it seems that though IFB is largest selling, has maximum after sales service problem and the user are highly dissatisfied. I am really confused on this. Can anybody guide me here ?- 6,376 replies

Reliance CDMA Port-In Offer
MOBILE FAN replied to drabhayshah76's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
If you have been pretty satisfied with Vodafone service otherwise in those 11 years, i think you should try adopting a different strategy for that weaker signal... Contact Vodafone, lodge a complaint, request a booster in your premise. You may have to contact higher ups like Nodal, Directly to Senior Level for this thing to materialise in case Customer Care ignores. Many people in the past have been successful in getting Vodafone boosters in their office if majority of the office area was with less/broken coverage. You being a Doctor & customer of 11 years have a strong case. Give it a Try. Secondly for Tariffs, If your signal problem do get sorted out, then put in a port out request, negotiate strongly with Retention, Keep all the proof of your interaction (Voda of late has been notorious for promising something & not giving lateron) and get a better plan. Again people have got very good retention plans from Vodafone. See This Topic MNP Retention Offer You Received. What i am trying to say is that with this Telco behemoths of today, play strategically first (above steps) and if that fails, then only emotionally (showing them the boot). May yield better results. I am on RCDMA since its inception. But currently at my new rented flat I am facing a lot of network issues. I am continuing because I am on 440 plan. Do you think the above strategy can work even with Reliance ? I made number of complaints for CC but no improvement in last 1 year. -

@ Rajan I ordered LG Fathom for my friend who wanted really a SMART phone for cheap, it seems to be great phone at 6k, 1 GHZ CPU, 256 MB RAM and good screen resolution. I dont know if android user will like WM6.5 or not but for entry it seems to be a great phone. Can I use the LG Fathom in CDMA mode by simply registring MEID in Reliance WW ?? Very few WW will understand your request. I tried at Pune and Mumbai and did not get any success. You can try and see yourself. Alternatively you may contact any Rimweb Guru.- 6,376 replies

I need to buy a AA battery charger. I got a Kodak easyshare z990 camera from US and along with it, I got 4 Kodak batteries and Kodak charger. So far I used many items from US and became negligible this time and plugged the charger directly to power plug. Now its not glowing the LEDs and then I discovred that it was for 110 V AC. I think, I would also need a set of spare batteries along with a new charger. I checked on web and got the hint that Eneloop from Sanyo are the good ones but costs Rs. 1100+. Can anybody throw some light here on which charger should be used and which batteries would be good ?
