    When I dial *#*#4763#*#*, it allows me to toggle gsm data by showing a message on screen. But if I change the settings from Sim Settings to use gsm data, I get error - "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone stopped" and then, signal of gsm and CDMA goes off in the status bar at the top.     @Kanishk, My Lenovo A820e is back now. I am extremely extremely thankful to you for your service. Your helpful nature is evident even on this forum but I experienced it even during the time I sent you the phone. One more thing that I like about you is that you are open to suggestions and ready to experiment. Lenovo is not some everyday samsung and was a bit difficult to find related things and files but you did it. Your attitude rocks. Way to go. Very happy.

    Hi, Currently I am considering to buy a GSM + GSM handset. I am considering Micromax A116, Spice Pinnacle FHD Mi525, Lava Iris 504Q, Xolo Q1000. All these handsets are : >= 1.2 GHz, 1GB RAM, 5", 720x1280 , Rs.12k to 14k However, while deciding between them, I stumbled upon a point when the Dual SIM definition is varying for these phones. Some of these phones are "Dual Active" (A116 ?), and others are "Dual Standby". Dual active meaning, while you are talking on one SIM, you can still receive a call on the second SIM. This is in contrast to Dual standby, meaning, while you are talking on one SIM, the other SIM becomes "Unreachable". The official or review websites do not clearly mention this distinction, they simply mention "Dual SIM" and that is not sufficient. So, I thought to start this thread where, our members can discuss about handsets which come under these categories. A review on net says that A116 is Dual Active, but when I checked it was not. However, when a data connection was active on one SIM, the second SIM was able to receive a call. Can you guys help here to distinguish between these phones and also other phones ?

    Just called this person. His name is Dev. He works only on Gaming Consoles, not phones. What's the issue with your phone? My Lenovo requires JTag. It doesnt boot in any mode. Doesnt even vibrate.

    I was able to get back the phone to life. Flashed a rooted ROM with Google Apps and everything is working. Except- Unable to switch on either Reliance or Idea APN. The phone is not connecting to internet except on WiFi. Any idea, how to do this ?

    I could have done this. But before I read this, I already gave the phone to a friend. He used Flash Gorden and flashed a CWM Recovery. Now the phone is not moving beyond Lenovo Logo. Also when booted into recovery, it still shows the stock recovery. Then he wiped the cache and partition and restored the backup. It shows that the restore was successful but still on reboot the phone stuck at the logo. Now wiping the partitions, shows error that it couldnt mount. It seems, I am in a deep trouble. May be the phone is bricked permanently. I would appreciate any help.

    I tried for about 40 minutes. Unable to connect using EVDO. I still have to try on EDGE. Too much fight for everything. But first thing first - I need to start Google Apps. For that I need to be in Fastboot mode. Plz. help.

    Thanks for responding quickly Jagjit Singhji. When I try - adb devices I dont get the phone listed there. From resources on net, I found that the drivers get loaded when the phone is connected to laptop during fastboot mode. Since I cannot get there I am unable to load the driver. Exactly when should I connect to laptop to issue the "adb reboot bootloader" ? However, I managed to install most of the drivers. Only one node - "USB Device" remains yellow in Device Manager. If you have the USB driver, I would install and try this. I have not yet tried to connect using EVDO. Let me try right away. I will update soon.

  20. I have requirement. There is a tata sky connection in one room. I want a parallel connection in another room. I know that changing one channel in one room will change the channel in other room also. I am not looking for multi-room connection for which I need to pay Rs. 160 extra/month. For all practical purpose, either of the TV will be ON and not both of them simultaneously. However, remote control should work from both the rooms. Is there any solution to do this ?
  21. Starting a new thread to get and make the information available on different 3G plans. I feel the requirement because now I feel that I would switch from RCDMA to some other GSM provider which provides competitive rates for 3G services. For last 2 years of so, I am using Idea and RCDMA with Motorola XT800. The voice requirement is served with idea and EVDO is from RCDMA. On RCDMA, I am on Zero Rental plan and pay only for data when I use. I dont have any add-on pack for it. At the max I get 20 Rs. of the bill per month. Because I also have 100 MB of data free on Idea. I keep the data always ON on my phone. For calling on viber, Kakao, skype I use EVDO. For other surfing purposes, EDGE is sufficient. But now, purely from the reason of having better and affordable handset, I want to move to GSM+GSM. So even though having the best association with RCDMA, unavailability of good and affordable CDMA+GSM handset, I would make a move. It would be sad to leave RCDMA's association which is now almost 9/10 yrs old. I would like this thread to provide information on different data plans (Only 3G - GSM). I got this info so far - RGSM - Rs. 123 - 1GB Airtel - Rs. 252 - 1GB Aircel - Rs. 198 - 1GB BSNL - Rs. 250 - 1GB Idea - Rs. 250 - 1GB Docomo - Rs. 93 - 600 MB + 500 mins. Vodafone - Rs. 250 - 1GB I would search for pay-as-you go rates and update here shortly. Edit: Updated with direct links
