  1. I'm giving up on it. I'll just sell my Moto X and get a Galaxy S7 or something
  2. I downgraded to Android 5.1 and I'm trying to flash the firmware from that chinese site. If you choose to downgrade, do it at your own risk and don't flash gpt.bin or motoboot.img (bootloader.img) becuase they will probably brick the phone. I'm not sure if they can be flashed later but it seems like I have Android 5.1 fully functional now.
