hi dev, did you try hard reset/ re flash. i think that should do the job. just follow the proper steps, dont miss any step. you can never be sure how a particular phone is going to behave after a particular rom is flashed. solution - stick to one that you find most stable. Of course some features will be missing but you will have a stable device. Please tell what happens after a flash/ hard reset.

I have occasional probelm with active sync. Its not related to this aku. It does not recognise my device at times. The device can be seen under network adapters but sync does not recog it. Is there an alternative to active sync? read somewhere that intellisync but its not a freeware. I might buy it but i need to know how well it works.

It is possible to do that. However, i would advice you to reflash the phone with this aku only and strictly as per the instructions. Hard reset>>boot loader>>flash>>hard reset

I had accessed wifi at a hot spot only at Green Park Cafe Coffee day. All i did was switched on wifi and it started detecting network. I think I changed the setting "this connects to " to internet. Will check once i try it again.

Unlikely it has anything to do with GWA. This might be just another case of what we call as "Golden Hour" GSV might be able to tell you more about it as my technical knowledge is close to zilch. But one useful advice I can give you is, dont rely to much on this, MTNL might throw up a huge bill on your face anyday. What plan are you using by the way? did you try 849 one?
