There are reports about BSNL's new FRC of Rs. 7 on news and telecom websites. But nothing can be found about this offer on their official website or recharge portals. Is it true or rumoured?

How to use BSNL CDMA RUIM on imported CDMA phones
dr.faramroze posted a topic in Technical / OS related
This forum started for maintenance and guidelines for the CDMA user community. If one carrier stops, we switch to a different operator. I am writing this, because no one is sure of any particular CDMA continuing in short future. BSNL can help CDMA users in some regions of service and will help those who have single network handset. I am also aware that BSNL is surrendering cdma spectrum in some states but it still help us. RUIM of BSNL is hybrid type, data works on normal sim based handsets like Moto E, Moto X, Droid series etc and also on handsets like VZW Note 3, Note 5, S5, S6, S7 Nexus 6 etc. A small amount of one time programming is required after sim activation. Note that there is no *228 for OTAF and was removed from network in 2010. MIP profile type:- make simple IP from mobile ip (mainly essential) Ppp user= your10digitmin@AAAVD.in (only required in some handsets) Ppp pass= your10digitmin Dial string/APN= #777 BSNL CDMA back end all India operations are handled from Vadodara and we can directly contact them for any issues. BSNL 3G data back to normal (better) in Gujarat
dr.faramroze posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
After a downtime of 6+ months of 3G connection issues in BSNL Gujarat circle, it has been finally made up. I remember last time using it in last week of December 2012 and would get successfully connected only after midnight. Customer service declared it to be a server overload problem, which was being rectified. On 18/02/2013, I got an sms from BSNL: "Dear Customer, BSNL has further upgraded the network. Enjoy internet surfing on 3G". Now I am getting 2.5 Mbps plus on my Galaxy Tab 2.- 1 reply

I am in a longer pursuit of ensuring SAMSUNG Ace Duos SCH-i589 will work with my BSNL EVDO service of 3.1 Mbps. I want to use my Reliance service for voice and BSNL for data on the SAME phone. During my first attempt, Samsung sales guys told that the RUIM card must be OMH. When I contacted BSNL, they said there is a patch to make the legacy RUIM OMH compatible. BSNL Bangalore guys patched the RUIM and given me back. Again I have taken the RUIM the Samsung sales. But they were quite unaware of the process of enabling the EVDO service on this mobile. I have written the matter to Samsung but in vain. Later, I have visited few Samsung Service centres following this. They have asked me to visit the Samsung R&D guys in Bangalore. But the insensitive staff did not direct me to any of the right guys. Later I caught hold of some marketing guys of Samsung. The first response of them was quite surprising! They are not even aware of a CDMA service by BSNL. They were even daring to “educate” me stating there is no CDMA service provided by BSNL. I could make them listen to my queries after stating that I am already a BSNL subscriber! During this conversation, Samsung says they are not responsible to compatibility of their services with “non-standard” service providers like BSNL; it seems they consider only providers like Reliance, Tata, MTS etc. As of now, they have agreed to check again about these compatibility issues and come back. From their response I am not sure, how much it would be hopeful. Current technical status is these: · The RUIM is recognized as an EVDO RUIM in the mobile · I am able to receive calls using the RUIM · But I am not able to configure this for data. · BSNL staff in Bangalore confirms that some subscribers are already able to use this phone for EVDO data, (after the patch); but they are unable to configure it themselves and asks me to go to Samsung! CAN YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE CAN GUIDE ME, HOW CAN I MAKE USE OF MY BSNL EVDO RUIM ON THIS MOBILE FOR DATA?

Hi, I was hoping someone could offer some cost-effective solution to increasing my wifi range. I have a bsnl ITI DNA A211I, which has a not too bad. Just like on most wifi routers, it gives me a few dead zones in the house, especially the obstructed ones (although not very far away ). I was thinking I could do one of the below- 1)get a more powerful new wifi router and place it at the same location along with my bsnl router 2)get a wireless repeater and place it at the brink of my deadzone 2) looks like a better option to me but I have not been able to find a cheaper alternative. It would be great if I could get some recommendations on the best device here. Thanks, Parth

currently on bsnl 3g postpaid 525 plan ,i am thinking of porting out because the network has become from bad to worse... 1st question, is there even a remote possibility of getting a booster installed from bsnl? 2nd , if i need to port (to airtel or aircel, not any other company) http://bsnl.co.in/service/cellular_cellone_allplan.htm current plan rental - 525 free calls worth - 425 rs 3g data - 250 mb Free SMS worth Rs. - 40 Free I/C Calls while Roaming in Min - 200 Free O/G Calls while Roaming in Min - 100 local call - on net rs .30 off net rs .40 std call - rs .50 sms - local -rs .30 national - rs.30 i plan to port to airtel 3g or aircel 3g my usage is mostly calling(both local and std, mostly off-net), rarely sms, and 250 mb of 3g data is sufficient roaming usage is also not that important, cause it is once in like 6 months.... so is there any similar plan available from airtel or aircel in the same 500-600 range?

So I finally decided to try out BSNL WiMAX (Mobile WiMAX 802.16e) as it launched recently in Trivandrum. I couldn't find anyone who used it for their experience or reviews, so I decided to try it out myself. Being a new technology that meets the requirements of 4G, its surprising that we are able to use Mobile WiMAX here when even 3G is expected to start after several months only. The EVDO service from BSNL hasn't lived up to the expectations as there were too many network issues and even BSNL officials won't recommend EVDO now and would suggest opting for 3G or WiMAX instead. So they are fully focused on building a good WiMAX network nationwide while the other operators are still bidding for a BWA license. BSNL offers Mobile WiMAX through 3 types of equipments... an outdoor CPE (Customer Premises Equipment), an indoor CPE and a USB dongle. They will give you the connection after checking the feasibility in your area only. So if the signal is very weak in your place then you will have to opt for the outdoor CPE which consists of an antenna to be fixed on top of your building and connected to a receiver near your PC using cable. However there is no portability with an outdoor CPE setup and makes it similar to Fixed WiMAX setup. The more portable option is the indoor CPE which looks like a normal DSL router with 2 large antennas. This equipment is recommended if you have average signal in your area. Even though the device needs to be connected to your PC via LAN, you can place the device anywhere (with a power plug nearby) and you can even use it in other places (under different towers) where there is BSNL WiMAX coverage. The most convenient device is the USB dongle as it doesn't need power and easy to carry around with a laptop. However there are reported technical issues with the USB dongle device at the moment and hence BSNL is not recommending it for now. Once the issue is sorted out you can swap your indoor/outdoor CPE with a USB dongle if you opt for FMC (see below). The device cost is as follows: Outdoor CPE: Rs.5000 Indoor CPE: Rs.4200 USB Dongle: Rs.2800 I would not recommend purchasing the device outright as you have an option to pay monthly (FMC - Fixed Monthly Charge) instead, which needs a refundable deposit of Rs.2000. You can pay Rs.50 (Indoor/Outdoor CPE) or Rs.40 (USB Dongle) per month instead which allows you the freedom to swap the device later if needed. It also gives you warranty for the device as long as you have the service active. BSNL WiMAX has different plans for different states and in Kerala the only plan available for home users is "512 to 2 mbps download speed with unlimited data usage for Rs.999 + tax" So I heard about the newly launched service and I got the contact number of an official who handles BSNL WiMAX in Trivandrum and he told me that I can just send an SMS to book the connection. He also gave me the contact number of a marketing executive and so I called him to book the connection. He told me about the issue with USB dongle at that time and promised someone would come the same day to check feasibility in my area. However they couldn't make it that day and came the next day with the indoor CPE equipment. The device is an "ICOMM 610 Indoor CPE" They switched on the device and got connected immediately as the device was pre-configured with BSNL test service login. Fortunately for me the signal in my area was extremely good as the Base Station tower was just under half a kilometer away. They say that a base station tower can handle around 5 kilometer radius with an indoor CPE. The minimum CINR value required is 10 dB and I was getting above 20 dB with full range shown in the device indicator lights. They asked me to browse and check myself, I tried some downloads and noticed an average speed of 2 mbps. As the download speed was good I decided to go ahead and filled up the application form. Since the test equipment that they brought along was a new one, they gave me the same device after removing the BSNL test login from the configuration page. I was told that they would create a new login (needs to be done in their office in Bangalore) for me which I have to configure in the device settings page. Since it was the weekend they couldn't get me the login the same day and I had to wait until Monday to get the login details, and I finally got connected to BSNL WiMAX on Monday. It seems they are leasing a common IP adddress for WiMAX users since I notice the same IP address whenever I connect. Static IP address option is available at an extra cost (for Business plans). I notice that the "common IP address" that they provice is listed on an RBL which is a concern, though I think its the BSNL IP range that is blocked. I did some downloads and noticed that the download speed is always stable and I do get up to 2 mbps download speed as promised: I noticed an issue with the default DNS servers as resolution of domain names either takes long time or doesn't resolve at all. So I changed to external DNS addresses in the LAN configuration and it has been fine after that. Even though the download speed was very good, the upload speed was very bad at I was getting an average upload speed of around 65 - 75 kbps only. So it will be a problem if you have file uploads to do and will decrease your torrent ratio if you have torrent usage. I also noticed that the download speed gets affected when there is an upload in progress. I have checked VPN connectivity and it is working fine. Applications like Remote Desktop are also working fine. My verdict: After using the service for a couple of days it does look very stable and the download speed hasn't dropped as I get 2 mpbs constantly. A 2 mbps download speed plan with unlimited data usage for Rs.999 per month and mobility too is definitely a very good plan and I don't think any other broadband plan in India can beat that for now. Being a new service it is good to see BSNL doing well in the initial stages itself and I hope the service will get even better.
