Sadikk 301 Report post Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) Finally da s60 thread..n so i want to put up sum ques.. 1) Is s60 available only on Nokia?? NO, U get SYMBIAN OS based handsets almost in all major manufacture. 2) on wich OS does Sony Ericcson handsets run on?? AFAIK.they dun hav s60 os Non OS based phone are usually known as JAVA phone ( developed and own by thier respective owners ) for example all S40 is JAVA phone by nokia. SE use SYMBIAN in their smart phones like P910, P900, P800 and P990. these are SYMBIAN UIQ based phones though. 3) ther r many softwares available on s60..but s40 also has quite gud amt of apps..so why ppl prefer s60?? S40 only supports JAVA based apps. means limited possibilities and not so advance as S60. People prefer S60 because of its third party softwares. basically S60 is made on C++ and any software made on C++ for S60 have maximum possiblities. for example S60 phones can be work as Universal remote, Voip phone, barcode scanner and car locking systems. 4) Recently Moto launched handsets wid Linux..is this is bettr thn s60??if yes thn why?? Well Linux is famous for their high security and fast performance. but end user think more for more of third party softwares then security. similarly Iphone also run on MAC OS X specially made for handphones. hoping to get my ans soon.. thnx!!!!!!!!!!! Also allow me list most of the OS used in mobile phones to make it clear that S60 is just a OS which is very user friendly and huge amount of third party softwares available and counting, Since the SYMBIAN OS was designed specifically for cell phones, it does a good job of delivering needed functionality for mobile users. Some of widely used mobile phone OS goes here >> JAVA PHONES, Most famous SYMBIAN, One of the oldest PALM OS, Windows mobile, RIM ( Research In Motion), Linux, Mac OS X ( mobile ) and almost 2 dozen OS is under testing exclusive for mobile phones. most promising is SUN MICROSYSTEMS Codename:- SUNJAVA OS with motorola. Hope i cleared all ur query, but trust me actual advancement of S60 will be discovered only after owning it. U know i pray to all gods for NOKIAS dump project 6638 only S60 based CDMA handset announced by nokia, but later they exit CDMA completely. Sadikk 301 Report post Posted August 17, 2007 (edited) thnx sadikji..u cleared al my doubts..jus last 2 ques.. 1) Can we xpect a price cut in s60 supported hansets in da nxt yr or so?? Nokia S60 handsets are already selling in cheap prices, check N70, N72 and 6630. 2) Any hope on CDMA..frm any oder company?? Symbian is hugely supported and invested by nokia, so for other manufactures it cost them more. i personally feel no other company is capable of launching CDMA symbian handsets due to lack of R&D. since nokia invested huge in CDMA S60 phones and wasted all thier money by exiting market. only possible if Qualcomm provide them royalty waiver, which is again not possible, cause of BROADCOM patent fight with them, all in all dont expect S60 CDMA device in near future. Last ray of hope is just alive now nokia by outsourcing thier chip suppliers, so they wont be paying royalty to qualcoomm. finger are crossed. but trust me actual advancement of S60 will be discovered only after owning it u knw i m about to buy a new mobile..i dropped da plan of buyin MotoRokr Z3,K550i,Nk 6300..jus becuz of their OS..al thes phones r java based except da Motorokr wich runs on linux..i was wonderin why not buy a s60 supportd handset.. accha can u tel me at wat lowest price u can get a s60 supported handset n wich one?? Regards.. There are load of choices in NOKIA for S60, i personally like 6630 its most powerfull handset by nokia IMHO, but i doubt u get new now. Try to find it u will get second in 4k something. if ur budget is more go for N73 or N95. Edited August 17, 2007 by Shaikhsadik

KumaarShah 143 Report post Posted August 18, 2007 My personal opinion about N72 is not very good, the display is not as bright as our 6265, 6275 or even 6235. It is dull. Maybe the handset I saw was defective or what I dont know. Other users having N72 may comment on the display. Even the cam is not as good as my 6265's. I would strongly suggest you to check the piece thoroughly before buying.

docsinghal 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2007 Guys i bought the Nokia N95 and have moved to Airlte...i agree that Reliace is really good for data speeds and tarriffs are still attractive....but trust me i realised that we reliance users have actually been living in ous own shells. S60 phones really rock and i would recomment N95 to anyone who can afford it....rightly said its not one thing...its many. Moreover nokia is lauching an upgraded version with more RAm and 8Gb of internal memory in the US so its likely that the prices of the existing N95 will fall soon.
