First try to reboot ur mobile

in some cases it solves the problem

second i'll give u advice to install RConnect software for Linux, available on Reliance website

during installation when it asks the port address

give exactly following:

/dev/ttyS0

i think it will detect ur mobile

well frens.. i am getting a different kinda error when i use the rconnect software downloaded from the net from the reliance site.

Hi,

I have recently loaded Fedora Core 1 (kernel 2.4.22) on my brand new HP d220M PC. Faced exactly the same problem while trying to install the r-connect-cmdline-1.0 dowloaded from Reliance site. The system was connected via the serial port (COM1) and the same phone (LG FWP 340e) / cable works fine with my Windows 2000 machines. The system simply failed to detect the modem!

What I am not sure is whether I need to wait for upgrades (since this was a Beta version) from Reliance, or will have to upgrade to kernel 2.6.x

As this machine is going to be used as a home PC, R-Connect is the only way to get it online.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi,

Thought it worthwhile to report for the benefit of all those struggling to make R-Connect work with Linux!

As I had reported earlier, the version 1.0 (beta) was not of much help. But the good news is it is irrelevant.

Go through the article (http://axion.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html) which gives step by step guidance of how to connect to your ISP (Reliance in this case) from a Linux box using pppd and chat.

I managed to make it work (after some tweaking here & there) with Fedora-Core-1 (kernel 2.4.22) and, btw, there is no problem with the linux driver as reported somewhere else.

I used a regular serial cable (not USB), but I guess it will also work with USB port as well.

If you would like to know about the details, please send me a Personal mail, based on the response I will put the relevant details on this site!

Good luck...

I'm getting the same problem as fghosh - only his suggested howto to solve the problem I can't figure out.

I have no problem surfing in windows, but the r-connect software refuses to detect the modem at dev/ttyS0, which is where it is. (COM1) - windows can vouch for that.

I have the LG wireless phone I forget the model no. now - anyway, t is not a mobile, and the cable provided is a serial cable.

I'm using Mandrake 9.0, kernel 2.4.something-mdk

Please help - I hate using windows and it is also virus ridden - can't get work done.

Check that the baudrate is same for both phone and in your connect script!

I wonder Reliance has removed the link to d/l R-connect drivers for linux from its website?

The link was:

http://www.relianceinfo.com/Infocomm/html/...x_rconnect.html

But now it gives error:

"The requested URL /Infocomm/html/rservices/rservices_linux_rconnect.html was not found on this server."

Hi Guys,

-------------

SOLUTION FOR CONNECTING LG RD 2030 IN LINUX (SERIAL CABLE)

----------------

first of all my english is weak.. so realize me

you can easily setup ur rim phone in linux by using reliance linux drivers.

ver 0.5.

currently rim website provide the new linux driver ver1.0

which r working properly in linux 8.3 only.

other version of linux requires the drivers of vers\ 0.5

which r removed from rim website.

i hardly find that old driver from the net

the site is www.driverguide.com

from that site u can find lg2030 drivers for linux ver 0.5

just download it. & follow the instructions contained in the zip file..
