Hutch Is Now Vodafone

I was expecting bigbang yesterday during the brand change. it was a big flop show. I dun know what happen to these telecom operators they are increasing the prices everyday and don't spend even a single paisa :(

They wont spend single paisa for the consumers benefits.

They will just spend money on ADVERTISEMENTS thats it.

They are all same.

Infact multinationals will spoil what Indian companies like Reliance, BSNL and Bharti has created. Bharti ofcourse are not torch bearer of revolition like Reliance and BSNL are. Vodaphone will definately not create competition but they will be interested in making cartel against reliance, tata and BSNL along with bharti. SO that they can influence TRAI BABUS for their benefit.

Another important change we can visualize would be the inclusion of Plan period locked - free handset options ... maybe like 3 years on the network !

thats a scoop ... wait for that ... probably by DEC they will have brought out their phase 1 of postpaid plans !!

I found amusing some of the visualisations here..Guys I really think nothing earth shattering is going to happen..The rebranding was one opportunity to make a mark by unveiling the so called visualisations..But look what they have done..Ads and nothign else..And I agree that Hutch/Vodafone together with Idea will create a cartel and try to influence Trai and DoT..Look how all of them increased call rates and sms rates last month..shameless telcos..

vodafone should have hit the nail on the head by introducing the best plans, schemes and all works..

but seems its arun sarins mind at work and not ashim's

i guess the news that i had heard.. vodafone did not achieve spectacular..infact not even decent results under arun sarin's leadership, in fact it had to retract from some markets where arun sarin had put in his best foot forward and so on and on. in the last so many years he was with vodafone

this is only the saving grace that he had got hutch in the worlds fastest and yet to be fully exploited market...

my bets next is that six months down the line he will shift to some other corporate while taking the biggest incentives/ bonus ever heard of..

Well they bought HUTCH very over priced.

So now no freebies.

No Mr Sarin, we are indian and you dont know how we think as u just came from UK :D

you screaming for spectrum so that we think its not ur fault but government is lame.

Well we are not asking freebies, give us 3G and real time connectivity.

WCDMA or HSDPA is not your game. but unlimited pushmails and Egprs surfing in 500/- :P can get you huge customer base.

What say guys??

Just a small technical question. When Hutch is being rebranded as Vodafone, the operator id visible on the phones should have been changed to Vodafone while retaining cell-ids as it is. But in UPE, Vodafone has replaced all the cell-ids to Vodafone and the operator id is displayed as Hutch only. Is it is temporary arrangement and withing few days the operator id's visible on phone will be changed to Vodafone and cell-ids will restored to BTS location names.

It will be GSM round of classics only. Reliance failed miserably in keeping customers locked to their network for 3 years. THis is not US, here people are smarter. Even in UK vodaphone is not able to keep customers for 3 years on network due to locked handsets. Also in UK, their termination charges are not so high. My frnd bought couple of handsets fr UK recently for about 25-40% less than India price paying all termination charges.

In UK they don't have a 3 year plan anyway ... it is either a 12 month contract or an 18 month contract ..

24 months is only for business customers ! and well they really don't need to worry cosz in GBP they do recover the cost of the handset in a real short period.

and well the termination charge is the remaining months line rental ... or if someone is relocating to a country where vodafone does not have operations - then u pay a minimal amount - but this condition comes only after u've completed a minimum of 06 months on the contract on a 12 month contract or 9 months on an 18 month contract ...

know the UK telecom market like the back of my palm mate ... I have a report to make every fortnight :)

I dont know about period of contract. SInce Indian call charges are lowest in the world no operator can afford to sell handsets for cheaper and Indian consumer is smart enough not to commit to anyservice provider for longer. I am sure multinationals will have tough time understanding and penetrating Indian market.

Only indian companies can tackle Indian customers better.

Vodafone has introduced a magicbox (including a handset and a 6 months validity connection carrying a talk time for 50 INR).The handset will carry a 2 year replace warranty.But if you remove the SIM and put any other SIM in that handset the warranty breaks.

But does the handset still work?

If yes, then I would use it for first 6 months, then put another SIM and won't care about warranty.

yes the magic box phone works on any GSM sim card, i.e it is not locked for vodafone the phone looks like a refined version of classic, the freebies inside are useless and not exciting

Yes my dear friends, the handsets offered by Vodafone in their MAGICBOX are not worth their price. This Magic Box scheme from Vodafone will not be successful throughout India in my point of view.

Its nothing new in the Corporate world. Only in India, CEOs and CMDs stick to their cos for life. Abroad, they are professionally managed and hence people quit after some time to another corporate. Anyway, Arun Sarin had been there for five full years.
