I wanted to create a website in this website i don't want to give the login and password to the users. in place of that i want to use digital signature. which means that digital signature will be installed on the PC of the users and user can access the website only from his/her PC. Why would u wanna upload pages in internet which u want to give access to select people. Besides You can create a VPN & keep the site within that VPN. manishag 17 Report post Posted October 6, 2007 hosting own vpn sever is going to be very costly. so for VPN i'll like to host it externally. But I haven't find any hosting provider which could give me VPN server. Also the end users who will browse the web are not user freindly with the PC. I have to allow access to approximately 500 peoples at the same time. And I have to transfer the data from client to server site so for VPN i'll be required more dedicated bandwidth. that's why i am searching a solution where I can host the website externally and client will get authentication through the signature. manishag 17 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 thanks peter I will check this out. but the solution I am talking about I have seen few day before on some of Indian Govt Site. but I am not able to recall that site. And the type of usage that I am planning is not possible through my own VPN server as running cost and the infrastructure cost will be very very high. where as if the solution That I have seen (Digital Signature) will work then the costing will be much much cheaper and easily scalable. copperco2 24 Report post Posted October 17, 2007 (edited) i believe it is possible, but requires encrypted connection, dedicated IP and more.. seconly if the machine changes then again everything has to be set up again.. or if the IP changes then it wont recognise the user.. it costly, so the best way is to get a security certificae for your website and go for email and password verification... the particular thing where yu have to enter the number/ alphabates should aslo be incorporated...
