Nokia Launches 8 GB N81 and N95 in India

Source - http://www.tech2.com/india/news/mobile-pho...n-india/21625/0

World's top mobile handset maker Nokia on Tuesday introduced two new models in the N-series range, aiming to strengthen its position in the $15 billion mobile entertainment market in India.

The new phones, N81 and N95 (8GB), have been priced at Rs 26,249 and Rs 35,059 respectively.

"Mobile entertainment is a key growth driver for the Value Added Services (VAS) segment. Currently, it accounts for 15 billion dollars of the $63 billion Indian VAS market and constitutes 37 per cent of the $28 billion non-SMS mobile data revenue," Nokia India Business Director (Multimedia) Vineet Taneja said here.

N95 is equipped with Assisted-Global Positioning System that would help consumers to locate their destinations.

Mobile music (ringtones, ringback tones and full track) market has been growing in the country. It has been a major contributor to the growth of the non-voice mobile services revenue, accounting for $227 million in 2006 and expected to reach $476 million this year, the company said

Nokia N95 8GB Updated

Nothing substantial in terms of revolutionary feature additions, but the change log does throw in some surprises

93049_matter.jpg

After the recent release of firmware version 30 for the N95-Classic, the N95 8GB too received an update.

While nothing substantial in terms of revolutionary feature additions, the change log does throw in some surprises including support for flash videos. This essentially means that you can now play .flv files using the default Real player.

Here is the list of new additions with this update.

Nokia Maps updated to 2.0

Full N-Gage client added

Nokia Search 4.0 now with Google plug-in

Share online 3.0

Enablers for Comes With Music

Download! application updated (v 3.1.50)

Upgrade to Music Player, with new visualizations

Update for Flash Lite 3

New baseline for VoIP

If you are an N95 user, use the Nokia Software Updater to get the latest version. A word of caution here. Make sure you backup all your files prior to the update and yes, it's advisable to use a trustworthy (and a reasonably fast) connection. The procedure does involve a 110 MB file download initially and you cannot interrupt the process once started unless you wish a visit to the nearest service centre!
